Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 2053: Chapter 2055: Hiring a Caregiver for You

When Mother Qi woke up, she immediately clung to Qi Taiguo, saying over and over that she was scared, that someone was coming to harm her, insisting that Qi Taiguo stay by her side and keep her company. As for Cheng Su, maybe because Qi Taiguo was there and had already lectured her, Mother Qi didn’t say anything about her being a jinx this time, but she still didn’t show her much of a pleasant face.

Old people can be petty. Even though Qi Taiguo made it clear that all of this had happened because of him, in Mother Qi’s eyes, with her pin?sized heart, she still felt she was the one taking the fall for someone else.

It was just that Cheng Su really did save her at a critical moment, so she held her tongue.

And even though the patient was sick, people still have bodily needs. Qi Taiguo might be Mother Qi’s own son, but the two of them aren’t exactly young anymore, and there’s still that thing about men and women keeping a proper distance. So going to the bathroom became an issue; to avoid awkwardness, Cheng Su was the only one who could go with her.

Cheng Su was embarrassed, and Mother Qi was embarrassed too, but there was no helping it. The problem was that Cheng Su just wasn’t someone who knew how to take care of people; just accompanying her to the bathroom was enough to make Mother Qi feel annoyed, saying she didn’t even know how to serve anyone properly.

”Mom, I really wasn’t born to make a living serving people, so yeah, I’m honestly not good at it!” Cheng Su said.

Mother Qi felt smug, thinking that with her son sitting there, the daughter?in?law could only swallow her pride. She was just about to ”teach” her a couple of things when that daughter?in?law spoke up again.

”But you’re right too, I’m not professional enough. How about this—I’ll hire you a caregiver. They’re properly trained and can stay with you at night as well. That way you’ll be more comfortable, and Taiguo and the others won’t have to stay up all night with you. Saves time and energy!” Cheng Su smiled faintly, watching Mother Qi’s dumbfounded expression, and added, ”As for the money, Mom, don’t worry about it. You’ve suffered, and we can definitely afford to pay for a caregiver.”

Mother Qi was stupefied.

Cheng Su looked over at Qi Taiguo, gave a little nod, and said, ”I’ll go get it done then.”

Qi Taiguo let out a sigh.

As soon as Cheng Su stepped out, Mother Qi grabbed her son’s hand and asked, ”She—she, has your wife been scared silly too?” That attitude of hers—what kind of attitude was that?

Calm on the surface, but distant and sarcastic—did Mother Qi really not hear it?

Qi Taiguo understood perfectly, but said nothing, only replied, ”Getting a caregiver is good too. They’ll be able to take much better care of you.”

Mother Qi stared blankly at Qi Taiguo, a chill rising in her chest.

She felt like she’d just lost something.

True to her word, Cheng Su acted right away. Soon, a caregiver in her fifties arrived in Mother Qi’s ward and started helping with all her eating, drinking, and bathroom needs.

Right now Mother Qi had only broken a little finger and been badly frightened. Her body was weak, but there really wasn’t much she couldn’t do on her own; having a caregiver was more than enough. So when Qi Jianguo came, Cheng Su half dragged, half coaxed the sleep?deprived Qi Taiguo away and let Qi Jianguo play the dutiful son for a change.

She figured, with a mother, everyone shares the responsibility. Taking turns to look after her is how it should be; Cheng Su didn’t see anything wrong with that at all.

It was Qi Taiguo who felt rather helpless about her little grudges.

But he still didn’t say anything. After all, ever since they got back, they’d gone straight into dealing with this big issue; he and Cheng Su hadn’t even had a single intimate moment yet. Now that things had settled down, it was the perfect time to work on their relationship a bit.

So, once they were home and Qi Taiguo had washed up, he practically pounced on Cheng Su, ”eager” as hell to drag her onto the bed.

The two of them, separated for so long that it felt better than a honeymoon, and having just been through a brush with death, were intensely hungry for each other. Even better, the house was empty, so they both thoroughly enjoyed themselves—bed?shaking passion, the whole nine yards.
