Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 2061: Chapter 2063: Mother Qi’s Fear

Because of Old Master Cheng’s illness, Cheng Su and Qi Taiguo had dinner with him before leaving, and they didn’t take Xiaoqi home. It was because Xiaoqi said there were sick people at home too. Cheng Su and the others were busy and had to take care of him, so it was better for him to stay here and keep Old Master Cheng company.

Lately, Qi Xiaoqi has truly considered Old Master Cheng as a dear elder.

Old Master Cheng and Sister-in-law Cheng felt quite gratified, thinking it wasn’t in vain to care for the child, Qi Xiaoqi!

In the end, it was Cheng Su and Qi Taiguo who went home, cooked, and brought food to the hospital.

The hospital atmosphere was quite subtle. Cheng Su didn’t understand and didn’t ask. She just called for the nurse to inquire about some care details.

”The doctor said that in a couple of days, you can be discharged. You can come back to the hospital for medication changes then,” said Qi Fenglian.

Qi Taiguo saw how weak Mother Qi still looked and said, ”How about staying for two more days? You could also get a thorough check-up. What do you think, Su?”

At this question, everyone looked at Cheng Su.

Cheng Su said, ”In my opinion, let’s do a full body check-up.”

Polite, yet somewhat distant — this feeling was more pronounced to Mother Qi.

She looked at Cheng Su, at the faint smile on her lips, which was particularly glaring, making her feel exceptionally uneasy.

She felt Cheng Su had changed.

Before, Cheng Su didn’t get along with her either, but it was more open and tangible. Now, it’s clear they still don’t get along.

But this time, Cheng Su made her feel so cold.

Yes, cold — like a distant snowy mountain, only to be viewed from afar, not to be approached, or else the cold would freeze you stiff.

Very strange, isn’t it?

Clearly, she’s smiling without impatience or dislike, yet she just feels cold.

Besides cold, Mother Qi also felt a little anxious and fearful.

Yes, it was fear.

Mother Qi didn’t realize this is how it manifests when a person’s heart grows distant.

Father Qi and the others understood and simultaneously sighed inwardly.

Deciding on the full body check-up, Qi Taiguo and Cheng Su ran around making payments, waiting for the check-up tomorrow.

At night, Father Qi sent Qi Taiguo and the others home, deciding to stay with Mother Qi himself.

”Dad, you’re of an age, you don’t need to keep watch. We’re all here, it’s not up to you,” Qi Taiguo was the first to object.

Cheng Su also said, ”Right, Dad, we’re young, we’re here. You’ve already traveled a long way from home, go back and rest.”

Compared to her distant attitude toward Mother Qi, Cheng Su was much warmer to Father Qi.

”No need, there’s a bed here too. You all go back, isn’t there a nurse? Your mother doesn’t need much care, it’s just sleep. Where can’t she sleep?” Father Qi insisted.

Qi Taiguo was speechless: ”Dad, you want us, as children and daughter-in-law, to have no face to see people? We’re several kids here, why do you need to keep watch?”

”I’m your mom’s old partner. Everyone says as you grow old, couples are companions, that’s the reasoning. Enough, stop persuading me. Come tomorrow to accompany your mom for the check-up!” Father Qi began to send them away.

The few tried to persuade in vain and reluctantly left him to it.

Once they were gone, Mother Qi said, ”You’re just putting yourself through trouble. Raising children to guard against aging isn’t just for times like this? Why compete to keep watch?”

”I’m afraid if you get muddled and unclear, you’ll end up offending everyone!” Father Qi replied feigning annoyance.

Mother Qi understood his meaning, and her face turned half-dark.
