Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 2054: Chapter 2056: Betting a Lifetime

After the clouds and rain cleared, the two embraced on the bed, panting heavily. Qi Taiguo kissed her forehead and turned to look at her.

”Ouch, my hand hurts,” Cheng Su cried out in pain.

Qi Taiguo quickly moved aside and asked, ”Are you okay?”

”I just pressed on the injured spot,” Cheng Su said, pouting.

Qi Taiguo checked and then moved back to her face, feeling guilty. He said, ”This time, I’ve made you suffer, I’m sorry.” As he spoke, he carefully placed his hand on her face without touching her wound, afraid of causing an infection.

Cheng Su teased him, ”This time I’ve scraped my face, I don’t even know if it’ll leave a scar after it scabs over. I’m telling you now, even if I’m disfigured, you’re not allowed to despise me!”

Qi Taiguo’s sadness dissipated a bit, and he said in a slightly annoyed tone, ”Nonsense, not just a little scar, but even if there’s a big scar, I wouldn’t despise you!”

Cheng Su raised an eyebrow and said, ”That’s hard to say. Men often judge by appearance, and they tire of the old when faced with the new even more. You’re saying this now because I’m still young. But when I’m old and no longer beautiful, it might be hard to say!”

”If you’re going to say that, then I won’t argue. How about we place a bet?” Qi Taiguo laughed.

”What’s the bet?” Cheng Su was intrigued.

”Let’s bet on whether I’ll tire of the old in favor of the new and despise you when you’re old and no longer beautiful. We’ll use our lifetime to bet and let time be the witness!” Qi Taiguo said.

Cheng Su heard this and her heart fluttered as she looked at him.

A lifetime, isn’t this a different kind of confession?

”What if you lose?” Cheng Su asked.

Qi Taiguo deliberately thought for a moment and said, ”If I lose, my punishment will be spending my entire life with you, getting wrapped up in it until it suffocates me, how does that sound?”

Cheng Su laughed and said, ”You mean to say that’s revenge? Keeping you by the side of an ugly woman for eternity?”

Qi Taiguo nodded quickly and then shook his head, saying, ”How could you be an ugly woman? You’ll forever be the most beautiful person in my heart.”

”Sweet talker,” Cheng Su teased him with a glance and said, ”If you lose, I won’t punish you, nor will I cling to you. We’ll happily sign the divorce papers, but remember, you’ll leave with nothing, I’ll take our son, and then you can spend your life with your new love!”

She was not the kind of person who would talk about forgiveness if her husband had someone else. If that were the case, she would only divorce.

”You’re so ruthless,” Qi Taiguo feigned sorrow.

Cheng Su nudged him and lay on the bed, looking at the ceiling as the sunlight streamed through the window, casting light on the wall. The room was quiet, with a feeling of tranquility and timelessness.

”What are you thinking?” Qi Taiguo watched her as she fell silent and couldn’t help but ask.

Cheng Su glanced at him and said, ”I’m thinking that if this is the lifetime, then it’s not so bad.”

Qi Taiguo slipped his arm under her neck for her to rest on and kissed her, saying, ”But I don’t think it’s enough.”

”Why?”

”Because such a lifetime is too short!” Qi Taiguo said, ”We’ve only been married for six years, and that’s too short, not enough.”

They had only married in ’85, and now it had only been a few years. Such a short time is indeed not a lifetime yet.

”I want many more years with you, maybe even decades more,” Qi Taiguo calculated with his fingers and said, ”At least fifty years. We have to hold hands for at least fifty years to make it right!”

”Fifty years, huh!” Cheng Su laughed, ”Then you’ll truly be an old man, and I’ll only be seventy, younger than you.”

Qi Taiguo’s face darkened, ”Don’t worry, starting today, I’ll work hard to exercise and strive to keep up with you.” As he spoke, he rolled over, pressing down on her, ”First, let’s replenish the yin and yang!”

”...”

Laughter and playful sounds filled the room. So, they agreed to meet again in fifty years.
