Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 2070: Chapter 2072: Curiosity Killed the Cat

To bring Xiao Cheng home to the Cheng family, although knowing she is their own bloodline, since Xiao Cheng has been registered as an orphan at the orphanage, the process to take her home still requires formal procedures. One can’t just casually take her away.

But in Guangcheng, what sort of establishment is the Cheng family? They have connections and wealth. Such a procedure is nothing but a simple formality for them.

Therefore, when Cheng Yaozu and Cheng Su went to bring her home, they simply took a team of lawyers along. The procedures would be handled by them, while Cheng Yaozu and Cheng Su would only need to bring the child home.

With both a paternity test report and Cheng Su as the foster parent, plus the Cheng family’s status as a prestigious and affluent family, the orphanage wouldn’t make things difficult for them to take the child home.

Once the bloodline connection was explained, even the director felt the wonder of fate and sighed at its marvel.

”...Before, no one ever wanted to adopt her. It was always because of this or that, and it always fell through. As it turns out, everything was decided by God, awaiting your arrival—the true family. Thank the Lord.” The director drew a cross on his chest, his face full of comfort and gratitude.

Cheng Su said, ”Perhaps this is Heaven’s arrangement.”

”Indeed!” the director replied. ”Having kinship naturally trumps adoption. I’m sure you will love her even more.”

Cheng Su looked at Little Cheng Su sitting obediently on the small chair, waiting. She would grow up in a family full of love, no longer like in a past life when everything relied upon herself, forging herself into an unyielding iron person.

”Director, thank you,” Cheng Su suddenly said, holding the director’s hand.

The director smiled gently, patting her hand, ”Why thank me? This is all God’s plan.”

Cheng Su didn’t elaborate. Only she knew in her heart why she was thankful.

Thankful for the director’s persistent loving care through two lifetimes, always protecting Cheng Su, thankful for helping achieve their union.

Just then, the legal team approached, needing the director to sign and complete the formalities. The director went over and instructed others to help pack Little Cheng Su’s belongings.

Cheng Yaozu came over, sitting next to Cheng Su, also looking at the child some distance away and said, ”When I visited with you to see her before, I felt she looked familiar—it turns out she resembles Auntie. Really strange.”

”What do you want to say?”

”Nothing!” Cheng Yaozu glanced at her and said, ”Don’t you want to talk about why you’re adopting this child?”

”Fate,” Cheng Su replied.

Cheng Yaozu raised his eyebrows, clearly somewhat dissatisfied with this answer.

He’s not a child; such a simple answer is not convincing. Moreover, he knew how much Cheng Su valued Xiao Cheng. Just to find out more about her visitor, she had gone to great lengths.

Could this child be Cheng Su’s birth child, and she just doesn’t know, like she has amnesia?

Cheng Yaozu suddenly imagined such a melodramatic plot in his head, but quickly shook it off. Regarding Cheng Su, ever since the old master decided to recognize her as a goddaughter, a thorough check was done, confirming her background was clear, she only gave birth to Qi Xiaoqi.

But still, it arouses curiosity—why would Cheng Su foster this child, even naming her similarly and paying so much attention to the people around her? It’s too mysterious!

Without an answer, Cheng Yaozu felt a relentless itch of curiosity.

Watching Cheng Yaozu sit restlessly, feeling uneasy all over, Cheng Su couldn’t help but laugh.

Cheng Yaozu caught her laughter, saying, ”Dear sister, just tell me what’s going on? I promise to keep it secret.”

”Curiosity kills the cat. Besides, you wouldn’t believe me!” Cheng Su shook her head.
