Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 2073: Chapter 2075: Digging Deeper

The Cheng family had never seen Old Master Cheng so delighted; it was true joy, evident in the way he looked at little Cheng Su, filled with light, affection, and excitement.

Even though the family repeatedly urged him to return to his room to rest, Old Master Cheng flatly refused, saying, ”Seeing this child has cured my illness; why should I lie down anymore? When my time comes, I’ll have plenty of time to lie down.”

Listening to these ominous words, everyone couldn’t help but laugh.

”Today is a good day, we should be happy. How can you say such things, Master?” Sister-in-law Cheng chuckled.

”Okay, no saying unhappy things.” Old Master Cheng gestured to little Cheng Su: ”Come over to grandpa.”

Little Cheng Su clung to Cheng Su, reluctant to leave. Even when Old Master Cheng called her, she pursed her lips, hesitating to go over.

Cheng Su whispered something in her ear, and only then did she walk over.

”What a good child!” Old Master Cheng held little Cheng Su’s tiny hand, his eyes greedily examining her little face, scrutinizing it again and again, saying, ”She’s truly similar, very much like your aunt when she was young.”

Everyone exchanged glances but said nothing, because none of them had seen her, nor knew the extent of the resemblance.

Old Master Cheng asked little Cheng Su a few questions, which she answered obediently. Then she glanced at Cheng Su, who smiled encouragingly, and said, ”Aunt Su said grandpa is ill and should take medicine and sleep; that’s the way to get better. Grandpa needs to listen!”

Cheng Yaozong and the others listened in surprise, glancing at Cheng Su; it was obvious she had just taught her.

Old Master Cheng felt reassured, nodding at Cheng Su first, then looked at the little one, seeing her cautious expression, realizing that she was sent to the orphanage at one year old. Growing up in an orphanage these years made his heart ache.

Who were her parents, and what happened that led her to be sent to the orphanage?

Was she abandoned or without any remaining relatives that she ended up in that place? Does this mean her family is all gone?

Considering this possibility, the pity in Old Master Cheng’s eyes deepened.

Poor child, if not for a stroke of fate crossing paths, she would have grown up in an orphanage?

”Xiao Qi, go play in the side hall with your little sister,” Old Master Cheng said, looking at Qi Xiaoqi. ℯ𝔴ℯ

Without a second thought, Qi Xiaoqi jumped off the sofa, took little Cheng Su’s hand, and went to the side hall, not forgetting to introduce himself.

The adults had to talk, so he, a child, could only play with other children.

Old Master Cheng, watching the two kids, withdrew his gaze, and then looked at Cheng Yaozu and the others, saying, ”This child definitely carries your aunt’s bloodline; we just need to find out if she has any other relatives. Follow this lead and investigate further.”

”Okay,” Cheng Yaozong was the first to agree, then asked, ”Dad, should we do another paternity test?”

Old Master Cheng glared: ”Don’t you believe me or what? I personally pulled her hair for the test with mine. I’m closest to her in terms of bloodline, right?”

Cheng Yaozong was embarrassed.

”She has the face of your aunt; no need for another test; it must be true,” Old Master Cheng said confidently, then added, ”Even if not, with our Cheng family status and standing, can’t we raise this child?” ℴ

”Dad, Yaozong is just being cautious,” Second Sister-in-law Cheng glanced at her husband, saying with a smile.

”I know what you all are thinking; the test will give us this result. If you want to know her origins, then investigate further. That will make everything clear,” Said Old Master Cheng, even if Suxin and her child are no longer in this world, it must be thoroughly checked.
