Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 600: Chapter 600: Is He Up to It?

“Old woman, just wait a moment,” we seem to have an unexpected visitor ahead of us. Don’t worry, I swear by the goddess’s name, we will ensure your safety.”

Having said that, Feng Yu instructed several Priests and Nuns to take care of the old woman and took a few steps forward on the road, her gaze fixed on the Knight approaching them.

The Knight shouldered a broad giant sword and wore silver-white Female Knight Armor adorned with beautiful jasmine patterns, which were dazzling under the sunlight. With every step she took, the dust she stirred dissipated around her silver-white armor, leaving not a speck of dust to settle.

The Priest in charge of combat moved to the front of the group, raised his hand, and the sharp Holy Light flashed within their grasp, shouting loudly at the Female Knight walking towards them:

“Who goes there! State your name! We are the Guardian Team escorting the Holy Maiden on her tour, please do not interfere!”

The Female Knight lifted her giant sword and, with both hands, forcefully planted the sword into the ground. The massive shockwave she released was like a sudden earthquake, nearly causing the Priests imbued with Holy Light to lose their footing.

Before the Priests could recover, the female Knight had already raised her voice and shouted:

“Listen well! My name is Moli, one of the Seven Great Disciples of the Curse Sect, Chaste Jasmine.”

Moli’s voice was deafening, as if it could be heard for miles around.

The surrounding Priests were utterly astonished. They knew that there was such a Sect in the world that cursed the goddess, presuming to summon Demons to reshape the world.

The actions of this Sect were unpredictable, but they had never had large-scale conflicts with the Goddess Sect.

Many of the upper echelons of the Goddess Sect considered them insignificant, reasoning that if they were truly here to cause trouble, they could be dealt with accordingly.

Little did the Goddess Sect expect that the Curse Sect would actually intercept the Holy Maiden’s carriage tour.

The Priests in the front line once again directed their leaping Holy Light at Moli, ready to use their Holy Light to completely eradicate any enemy who dared to act rashly.

“As always, Sister Moli has such a commanding presence.”

While the Priests were paying attention to every move of Chaste Moli, a petite girl with long curly hair had quietly taken a seat at the back of the last carriage.

With a blue checkered long robe draping over white lining, the girl took out four differently-colored pieces of Candy from a jar, indecisively pointing at the candies with her index finger,

“One, two, three, four. Which one should I eat today?”

After speaking, the girl tossed the four candies gently into the air, choosing a purple one and deftly returning the other three still airborne candies back into the jar.

“Today it’s decided to be you, but I can only eat it after successfully completing the Task; before that, I have to patiently endure.”

Immediately, a group of Priests directed their Holy Light toward the girl sitting in the last carriage, her closeness to Chaste Moli suggesting that her identity was clear.

Holding the candy in her hand, the girl flicked it high into the air like shooting glass beads,

“My name is Moderate Cocarlos, one of the Seven Great Disciples of the Curse Sect.

Before the confectionery falls, I’ll deal with you as a reward, then I can truly savor that piece of Candy.

For the sake of letting me taste the Candy I haven’t had in a long time, Holy Sister, could you please die for me?”

Cocarlos smiled and uttered these extremely terrifying words.

Before the Priests could react, suddenly another figure appeared at the side of their carriage without any warning; it was an ominous man wrapped in bandages,

“Gao Fang that guy has spouted a bunch of unimportant stuff again. It’s the perfect timing; let’s get this over with quickly and move on to the next job.”

After speaking, the figure practicing Zero Technique suddenly vanished.

“Escort the Holy Maiden to the carriage!”

Realizing the Attack was imminent, the Priests roared for the Holy Maiden to quickly board the carriage to avoid harm from the Curse Sect, then immediately used their Holy Light, erecting a protective shield to fend off the Attack from the sect disciple.

But just then, a number of Priests and Nuns exhibited signs of something amiss.

Some black entity, the nature of which was unknown, sprouted from various parts of their bodies as if it were a rabid dog gone mad, frenziedly tearing through the bodies of the priests and nuns, converting their flesh and blood for its own use.

The priests and nuns, possessed by the darkness, flailed awkwardly at the affixed spots, attempting to fling off the darkness pulsating upon their skin.

But the darkness, like a lit flame, only grew more intense with their efforts. Eventually, the blackness converging upon several priests and nuns coalesced into a black toad that swallowed nearby clergy whole, its rolling eyes ushering them into its belly.

At the side of that black monster, the old woman who had just been rescued was leaning on her cane with a calm demeanor,

“I remember you all wished to know my name. It’s fine to tell you.

My name is Kexiya.

Loving Kexiya.”

…

…

After roaming Baihua City for several days, Yang Yu had not found any decent Skills.

To reward those who had demonstrated outstanding contributions to the country or to curry favor with them, the nobles of Wansheng Country had nearly monopolized all high-level items, leaving only trivial trinkets on the market.

For some reason, Yang Yu even imagined he could hear a whisper in his ear, “If you want the good stuff, then enlist in the military and keep accumulating achievements!”

Perhaps this was the “gift” mentioned in the upgrade task?

He opened the task panel and saw the special urgent task hanging in the most conspicuous place, unchanged.

This task had come too suddenly; Yang Yu was completely unprepared.

He was currently in Wansheng Country, and according to what he knew, the Holy City of the Goddess Sect was located near the capital of the Luo Ze Empire, where the Holy Maiden of the Goddess Sect was likely to be.

Now the question was, what to do?

Without any wings, Yang Yu faced a series of difficulties in crossing the front lines between the two countries.

If he did not go to the rescue, Yang Yu didn’t know how the story of this world would unfold after this event.

He had encountered sudden plot twists like this in many RPGs before.

Failing to complete them would surely cause the storyline to progress in a worse direction.

After careful consideration, the Curse Sect choosing this moment to strike at the Holy Maiden of the Goddess Sect surely had some ulterior motive.

To ensure the assassination’s success, the Curse Sect would surely send some difficult-to-handle members. Leading a small team there was a surefire way to get killed.

With Yang Yu’s current abilities, he was not capable of undertaking this task.

From Yang Yu’s past experiences, to deal with this task, he would have to wait for the second playthrough or choose the simpler hero route.

At the moment, Yang Yu had no plan and could only watch and wait.

Speaking of which, the Hero should have also received a similar task; it remained to be seen whether he could prevent it.

Just as Yang Yu was contemplating this, the system prompt sounded beside his ear:

[Task failure. Holy Maiden without rescue has died. Do you wish to have this task removed?

1. Yes

2. No]
