Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 585: Chapter 585 Decisive Action

Yang Yu tried to use his silver tongue to badger Wan Huawen into changing his opponent, but Wan Huawen was adamant about having Yang Yu compete against his son.

After the negotiation failed, Yang Yu had no choice but to take up his shield and sword for the battle.

Upon seeing Wan Huawen, Wan Ze stopped walking; he stood still as if waiting for Wan Huawen’s attack and occasionally took swigs of liquor.

Yang Yu did not immediately approach Wan Ze, but instead, he planted his sword in front of him and activated his skill.

The quantity and strength of the thorns produced by “Thorny Binding” depended on how long Yang Yu had been channeling magic power into the ground.

Since Wan Ze showed no signs of attacking, Yang Yu naturally aimed to maximize the effect of this skill, perhaps creating a slim chance of victory.

Sensing that he could no longer increase the life force near his sword blade, Yang Yu spurred this life force to encircle Wan Ze,

“Thorny Binding!”

With Yang Yu’s command, the ground around Wan Ze suddenly burst open, and countless purple thorns surged up, engulfing Wan Ze, who did not dodge but stood there, allowing the tons of thorns to engulf him.

“What kind of attack is this? I’ve never seen it before. It’s about time something new happened.”

Feeling groggy, Wan Ze tried to pour liquor into his mouth but realized his arms were bound by thorns; it was quite difficult to break free without exerting force.

While Wan Ze struggled with the thorns, Yang Yu pulled out his sword, a black shadow following his lunge into the sword blade, and in an instant, Yang Yu appeared in front of Wan Ze, swinging his sword toward Wan Ze’s chest.

The scenery before his eyes wobbled, but Wan Ze, using his agile ears, caught the sound of the incoming attack.

Perceiving the direction of Yang Yu’s attack, Wan Ze pulled out his hidden hand and grabbed onto Yang Yu’s sword blade.

The blade caught, Yang Yu instantly released his grip and drew a second sword from the system to continue the assault.

Intending to surprise his opponent and gain the upper hand, to Yang Yu’s surprise, Wan Ze lifted his leg and stepped onto Yang Yu’s sword,

“Dual Swordsmanship? One, two, three, four, four arms, I’ve never seen such a race before.”

Wan Ze pushed down hard with his foot, and to prevent being flipped over, Yang Yu let go of the sword hilt and took two steps forward, aiming a straight punch at Wan Ze’s abdomen.

His ears capturing Yang Yu’s movements again, Wan Ze released his left hand, allowing Yang Yu’s first sword to fall freely, then stepped to his left with his left foot, and a crimson glow surged from his body, forming a sturdy protective shield.

Yang Yu’s punch hit this shield like hitting a steel plate over fifty meters thick, and it was fortunate he retracted his fist quickly to avoid completely shattering it.

Yang Yu recognized this skill, named “Blood-colored Protection,” which created a temporary shield that repelled all attacks.

This skill had once appeared on Yang Yu’s list of skills to learn.

However, this skill had a noticeable flaw, and after weighing the pros and cons, Yang Yu ultimately chose to forego learning this skill.

Though it appeared as a complete hemisphere, the area capable of repelling damage only extended from the user’s shoulders to hips.

Jumping back a few steps, Yang Yu avoided the spreading protective shield and caught the first sword that was knocked into the air. Then, as fast as “Thunderbolt,” he crouched down, moved out of the Skill’s effective range, and prevented being knocked back himself.

Entering the shield again, Yang Yu stood up and rushed towards Wan Ze, his sword blade swinging mercilessly.

Yang Yu knew his attacks were weak. Facing Wan Ze, whose defensive power exceeded a thousand, he would hardly cause any damage. However, as long as his sword could sting Wan Ze’s nerves, it would bring him to his senses and lead to victory.

Swinging the wine gourd in his right hand, Wan Ze easily dissolved Yang Yu’s attack and shook it off, striking back at Yang Yu.

His claws flashed a blood-red color, and with a forceful throw forward, five red beams slanted towards Yang Yu.

Yang Yu opened his Shield “Interception,” and the Illusion Shield momentarily appeared in front of him, blocking the blood-red beams. The next instant, Yang Yu saw Wan Ze vanish completely from in front of him in a “whoosh.”

Realizing something was amiss, Yang Yu moved his eyes rapidly, breaking every second into sixty frames, slowing down the time in his vision.

Finally, at the moment Wan Ze struck, Yang Yu caught sight of him. Trying hard to dodge, Yang Yu still felt the fast shadow brush past him.

A trail of blood trickled down from Yang Yu’s cheek, accompanied by a few stray hairs fluttering in the air.

Before Yang Yu could ponder what Skill Wan Ze had just used, Wan Ze’s foot traced a semicircle on the ground, pushed off forcefully, and attacked Yang Yu’s back.

Turning around, Yang Yu raised his Shield, but before he could use “Shield Counter,” Wan Ze’s fist thundered onto the Shield. Yang Yu’s arm went numb from the impact, almost feeling as though the shield itself had dented inward, and he was thrust several meters backwards.

“You’re quite capable. Had you been an ordinary person, that last hit would have been the end. You do have some ability.”

Lifting the wine gourd, Wan Ze gulped down the wine, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. In the blink of an eye, he launched another attack.

“How about this move?”

Wan Ze’s speed suddenly increased, and he arrived at Yang Yu’s side with a simple whip kick. Yang Yu took a deep breath, braced the numbness in his hand, activated “Shield Block,” and simultaneously used “Climbing” to firmly adhere to the ground.

Shield met fist.

“Shield Block” completely withstood Wan Ze’s attack, but the ground Yang Yu was attached to abruptly lifted, sending him flying backward.

Releasing the “Climbing” adhesion, storing his sword, Yang Yu tumbled across the grass and quickly stopped to observe Wan Ze’s movements. Wan Ze, in the span of that time, leaped above Yang Yu and aimed a flying kick at him.

Wan Ze moved so swiftly that Yang Yu couldn’t dodge. He lowered his center of gravity and activated “Copper Wall Iron Curtain” and “Steel Body,” increasing his resistance, boosting his Blood Volume, and reducing damage, choosing to withstand the attack.

A strong pressure descended from above, shaking Yang Yu’s waist, as the ground supporting him, centered around him, cracked and spread out.

Seeing the flying kick didn’t settle the fight, Wan Ze pushed off the shield, leaping back into mid-air.

Whether it was a miscalculation or sheer confidence, Wan Ze stayed airborne for a long time, exposing the only flaw in his movements.

If he did not counterattack now, he would never find another chance.

Without hesitation, Yang Yu used “Support Charge” to return to Lotcar’s side, abandoning the test.
