Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 553: Chapter 553 The Signal Isn’t Very Good Here

Barely turning his head, Lotcar looked toward the rear, his sensitive ears had already caught the pursuing elves among the branches.

”No worries, let them follow freely.”

Sitting on Lotcar’s back, Yang Yu yawned, planning to wait by the stump at the outskirts of the Elf Forest.

While gaining Experience, he casually rescued the elves who had been captured, which might nonetheless improve their opinion of him as a human.

Earn some goodwill with the elves; in case he ever needed to visit the Elf Forest again, the elves might treat him more politely.

Flipping through the System, Yang Yu positioned the necessary items in conspicuous places; before long, a communication request from Bai Jin appeared on the panel.

It wasn’t the scheduled time for contact. Could it be that they had encountered some trouble?

Taking out the Crystal Ball and establishing contact, Bai Jin’s slightly anxious face appeared. Before Yang Yu could ask, Iyas hastily leaned over next to Bai Jin,

”Yang Yu, something terrible has happened. The elves on guard duty reported seeing large swathes of black smoke in the distance, suggesting a human incursion into the Elf Forest. I have a bad feeling about this.”

Yang Yu asked, ”How far is the black smoke from you?”

”I don’t know.” Iyas shook her head. ”If we could stand atop the Queen’s Palace, we would certainly have a clear view of the vicinity.

The Queen has already dispatched the Personal Guard to check out the situation in the distance.

What I’m most worried about now are the hunting squads near the periphery. If humans really have invaded the Elf Forest, those elves organized into small hunting squads will surely be the first targets.

Yang Yu, I have an unfair request.

You are closer to them, please go and warn them to be more cautious.”

”I have already talked to them. Lotcar has also detected the scents of other humans. I thought for a while and to avoid the situation from developing unfavorably for us, I took some actions and am now on my way back,” Yang Yu said calmly, ”You all need to be extra cautious, don’t put yourselves in danger. The Elf Clan has many powerful individuals, as long as you don’t go out, you should be safe...”

Before he finished speaking, the image in the Crystal Ball in front of Yang Yu distorted, and the colors representing Bai Jin and Iyas merged into a mess.

”Uh oh? Is the signal not very good here?”

Up to now, Yang Yu still didn’t know the principle behind using the Crystal Ball for communication; he could only tap the Crystal Ball lightly as one would an old TV.

After tapping it several times, the twisted colors inside spread out again, forming Bai Jin’s image.

Just as Yang Yu was about to ask the reason, Bai Jin suddenly moved closer to the Crystal Ball,

”Yang Yu, it’s really bad this time.

The magic power around us is acting strangely, decreasing significantly, just like it was near Gordon.

It’s possible that someone is preparing Super Large Magic.

Since elves hardly use magic, the ones using magic must be...”

Before she could finish her sentence, the magic power surrounding Bai Jin seemed to be draining away, gathering into a certain spot in the sky, causing the communication with Yang Yu to be cut off again.

Bai Jin didn’t use her own magic power to reestablish contact with Yang Yu; instead, she could distinctly sense a destructive aura brewing.

”Iyas, Luoyu City should have a Barrier. Hurry and evacuate the people; tell them all to move toward the center of Luoyu City.”

”Understood.”

Without further ado, Iyas leaped out of the window.

Many elves anxiously peered into the woods from the edge of the village, oblivious to the looming danger.

Iyas earnestly advised the elves loitering in the streets to quickly head to the Luoyu City Center for refuge.

But only a handful of elves heeded Iyas’ advice and made their way to the Luoyu City Center.

”Too slow....”

After putting away the Crystal Ball, Bai Jin looked around at the leisurely crowd, her brows furrowed. She had no idea how many elves might perish when that powerful spell was unleashed.

After a moment of contemplation, Bai Jin took a deep breath and conjured a Fireball Technique in her hand.

Thanks to her practice in the desert on how to use Magic when surrounded by sparse Magic Power, Bai Jin was now able to successfully cast the spell, pouring more Magic Techniques into the fireball.

Magic is a form of programming that relies on one’s own consciousness to direct Magic Power with specific patterns, achieving various effects.

To use Magic quickly or develop one’s own unique Magic, one must know countless rules of basic Magic operation.

During her stay in Luoyu City, Bai Jin never ceased her studies.

Although she hadn’t acquired new Skills, she diligently absorbed the knowledge she had gleaned from the All Things Library.

That knowledge might not have immediate use, but it could pave the way for the future, allowing her to move beyond just being a Curse Mage.

This versatility would allow Bai Jin to continue staying by his side.

Now, it was the first time Bai Jin was attempting to combine theory with practice. She wove a certain Magic Technique into the blazing fireball, instantly unlocking its constraints and causing it to expand several times.

Many powerful forms of Magic were modifications of basic, smaller spells.

The Magic Technique Bai Jin incorporated was one such form that amplified power.

As long as it was compatible with the basic Magic, Bai Jin could control the magnitude of the spell through this Magic Technique.

Of course, forcibly enlarging a spell’s power carried certain risks.

The commonly used Magic in this world was the product of countless optimizations. Releasing a spell’s power forcefully was more time-consuming and labor-intensive, and improper control could trigger various instabilities.

It was akin to forcefully pouring a ladle of water into a boiling oil pan, causing numerous oil splatters. Forcibly infusing a different Magic Technique into existing ones could similarly cause numerous Magic Powers to splatter.

And the splattered Magic Power would release its stored energy in the most straightforward and forceful way.

Bai Jin intended to exploit this fact, not merely magnifying the fireball, but creating a cluster of Magic Power capable of inducing a massive explosion and producing a loud noise.

Bai Jin hurled the spell towards a house that elves had just exited.

The ferocious flames whipped up a storm on the makeshift house, and the deafening noise instantly drew the worried elves’ attention away from the forest and back to the house.

They only saw an unknown spell instantly obliterate a house into debris.

”If you don’t want to die, go to Luoyu City!”

Seizing the opportunity, Iyas leapt onto the nearest tall building and yelled out.

Realizing that danger was not far away, the elves who had been gazing at the forest rushed towards Luoyu City.

Standing by the window, Bai Jin activated ”Lightweight”, reducing her own weight to feel as light as a feather fluttering to the ground, blending into the stream of elves.

Elf Queen Ailena also noticed the unusual activity in the temporary village, but her attention was not fixed on the elves who flooded into Luoyu City like a tide.
