Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 590: Chapter 590: Can you smooth things over for me?

Swallowing his saliva, Yang Yu furrowed his brows and then, mustering his courage, he raised his voice,

“I am a Messenger Soldier of Wansheng Country, delivering letters to the Plant Clan by the decree of Her Majesty Qian Xialan and Ming Dalak. I do not know who you are, but please do not hinder me; doing so would mean opposing the entire Wansheng Country…”

The more he spoke, the quieter Yang Yu’s voice became.

The extremely timid demeanor was an act.

Suddenly, a voice came from behind Yang Yu, “Truly diligent. I do not dislike hardworking people.”

Following the sound, Yang Yu saw a tall, thin man standing on the previously empty ground, seemingly out of nowhere.

Wrapped in bandages and wearing clothes that did not match the season, with dark circles under his eyes, the man looked very spirited.

Yang Yu’s interface showed no information about the man, but he immediately bowed deeply toward him.

“Sir, I acknowledge the gap in our power; this is the highest courtesy I can offer since I represent the Queen. Please spare me.”

Seeing Yang Yu’s sincere attitude, Zero Technique had no intention of troubling him, but took out several sheets of paper and faced Yang Yu with them,

“I’m sorry I scared you. I have something to ask you. I don’t really want to interrupt your duties, but it’s inevitable. I only need a few minutes.

Have you seen any of these people recently?”

Looking at the papers that Zero Technique flipped through, featuring images of him, Bai Jin, and the group of Tu Jing that they had defeated, Yang Yu knew he was indeed confronting a member of the Curse Sect investigating Tu Jing’s disappearance.

Yang Yu took a deep breath and blatantly lied with his eyes wide open,

“Sir, the people in your drawings seem familiar, but I truly don’t recall where I’ve seen them. How about this—so long as you’re willing to let me go, I’m willing to take these drawings back and help with your investigation.”

“No need,” Zero Technique put away the pictures. “You will surely have other duties upon returning; this is my task, so no need to trouble yourself. Once you’ve completed your duties, just return the way you came. Do not enter our search area again. You can go now.”

“I understand. Thank you, Sir.”

Yang Yu gently patted Lotcar’s back as Lotcar tried to step forward again, finding his feet now moved normally. However, Lotcar did not sprint away instantly but instead turned back to express his gratitude before once again moving his powerful legs quickly through the Life Forest.

To prevent an attack from the mysterious man, Yang Yu kept watch around him, but when he looked again toward where the man had been, it was as if he had never existed, disappearing without a trace.

Such a spectral enemy was something Yang Yu had never encountered before.

The Binding Magic that had restrained Lotcar alone indicated the great disparity in their power.

If the man had truly harbored murderous intentions, Yang Yu might not have lived even a minute longer.

Was it too soon to have stepped onto this stage known as the world? No, it was on this stage called the world that one could quickly gather more Racial Essence and continue to grow stronger.

“For some reason, the Curse Sect has aligned with the Main War Faction of this country. They probably won’t harm a mere messenger like me.”

Confirming that Zero Technique wasn’t following him, Yang Yu did not relax; he and Lotcar sped on their way.

After showing the credentials given by Qian Xialan to the Plant Clan’s guards, Yang Yu and his group finally arrived at the village of the Plant Clan.

The winter stores of the Plant Clan had just ended, and every household’s storeroom was filled with abundant food. Some people were leisurely chatting in the streets, others were sweeping the last few leaves in the village, and some were already tidying up the land, preparing to plant seeds after the snow killed the pests.

Upon arriving at the village entrance, Yang Yu saw a familiar figure—Zuixiang. Pu Tao.

Zuixiang. Pu Tao also noticed Yang Yu and his group, felt vaguely familiar, and suddenly, as if recalling something, exclaimed,

“Ah! Isn’t this the Silver Wolf who came to our village last time? What are you doing here? Where is the man you were with? I’ve been training hard for a month, and this time I will definitely beat him!”

Lotcar and Yang Yu exchanged glances and spoke, “You’ve mistaken us for someone else; we Silver Wolves look very similar, so it’s no wonder you can’t tell us apart.

We are soldiers of the royal family of this country, and we have come here to speak with the council of the Plant Clan.

Young man, could you guide us?”

Yang Yu took out the certification issued by Qian Xialan, and Zuixiang. Pu Tao narrowed his eyes, leaned in to look closely but didn’t quite understand, although Wansheng Country had previously sent envoys seeking to align with them.

There had been several occurrences of this, and it had only recently quieted down.

Therefore, Zuixiang. Pu Tao wouldn’t be surprised by another envoy visiting.

“Don’t worry, we haven’t come to persuade you to join the war. If you’d prefer us not to enter, we’ll wait outside.

But please make sure Lord Jiucai and Lord Mei Gui of the Plant Clan come to see us, tell them that Wansheng Country wishes to discuss the potions held by the Plant Clan.

Please make sure this letter reaches their hands.”

Zuixiang. Pu Tao pouted, “Hmm—” for a moment, then took the letter from Yang Yu’s hands, assuring,

“No problem, then please wait here for a while, there’s not much else to do at the entry of winter anyway. Since you are important guests, they should come to see you quite soon.”

After saying this, Zuixiang. Pu Tao walked towards the Tree Mother without looking back.

Just then, a small hand poked Yang Yu’s back. Yang Yu turned around and saw a young girl sitting on a pure white floral throne, hovering mid-air. It was none other than Lilith. Lily.

“Why tell such a clumsy lie?

Few can sense the Plant Clan aura on you, but us Upper Species can perceive it quite easily. Even without sending the letter, others were bound to hurry here.

After all, the demons near the village have been completely cleared, and everyone is quite idle.”

Facing Lilith. Lily, Yang Yu gave a wry smile,

“I was never supposed to take on this task alone. It’s just that Wansheng Country really could not spare anyone else, so they had to send me, who knows the way, to visit the Plant Clan again.”

“Just consider it that. But do you understand your current situation?” Lilith. Lily lazily stretched, “Elder Quan Xiangguo has already informed us of some matters. If it’s true, your situation is indeed quite dangerous.”

“Is it dangerous? Indeed, that’s why I dressed up like this to be here, though it seems to be of no use,” Yang Yu said ruefully. “Before the truth comes to light, could you help me smooth things over?”
