Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 561: Chapter 561 Just a Bit More Arrogant Than the First Time

Summoned by the Elf Queen, Yang Yu followed six members of the Queen’s Guard into Luoyu City.

Countless tents made of wood and branches, like blooming mushrooms, stood in every corner of Luoyu City, making the previously wide streets now crowded and impassable.

The displaced elves stood up one by one, directing their complaints and dissatisfaction at Yang Yu. With nothing else to do, they followed him and, just like two days before, gathered at the foot of the Elf Tree once again.

They wanted to see what Yang Yu, this human, had come to do by returning to this place.

This time, the Elf Queen did not choose to receive Yang Yu in the Palace, but instead walked to the wide white square under the protection of her Personal Guard.

She knew the consequences of summoning a human at this time, but she had no choice but to summon Yang Yu.

From the messenger, Ailena could guess that it was Yang Yu who had saved the Elf Hunting Team and, as a Queen, the bare minimum of etiquette and gratitude was a necessity.

After weighing her options, Ailena chose to meet Yang Yu on the white stone that had guarded the elves for generations.

When the Elf Queen appeared, all the elves spontaneously bowed their heads in respect. After receiving the Queen’s signals, they then raised their heads and looked toward Yang Yu, who was waiting at the edge of the square to enter.

Leaping down from Lotcar, Yang Yu walked to the Elf Queen with the Guard, mimicking the elves’ earlier gestures, and bowed to the Queen.

”Good afternoon, Queen.”

Sitting on the throne, Ailena stood up, lightly lifted her pure white gown, and returned the gesture to Yang Yu.

The Elf Queen returning a bow to a human was unheard of, and the elves immediately became chaotic. After the Queen’s Guard warned them with Holy Light, the elves stopped the commotion and all looked to the Queen, hoping she would explain.

Ailena did as they wished and provided the reason for her reciprocation,

”Mr. Yang Yu, I truly appreciate your rescuing so many elves.

But, may I ask you why you had humans disguise themselves as elves and stay in Luoyu City.

That day, I had already made our attitude towards your kind clear to you.

Why would you persist in your view and deceive me?”

The people present did not want to hear mere pleasantries. Ailena was well aware of this and went straight to the topic the elves were most concerned about.

If Yang Yu could provide a reasonable explanation, she was not opposed to letting Bai Jin and the others leave safely.

With a smile on his face, Yang Yu said, ”Before answering the Queen’s questions, may I ascertain the safety of my companions?”

Ailena did not know what Yang Yu was planning, but his request was deserving of respect, considering he had saved so many elves.

”Bring the young girl up.”

”But, Your Majesty...”

Several members of the Personal Guard believed that Yang Yu had no right to negotiate terms with the Queen and openly advised against it, but Ailena still heeded Yang Yu’s request.

”It’s fine, do as I say.”

”Yes.”

Despite their doubts, the Guard followed the Queen’s instructions and brought Bai Jin, who had been staying in the cell, before the crowd.

Accompanying her was Iyas, who had been vigilantly guarding by Bai Jin’s side, fearing some mishap might befall her during the time Yang Yu was absent.

When Yang Yu saw Iyas at that moment, Iyas patted her chest and let out a sigh of relief. However, Yang Yu’s next sentence immediately made Iyas’s heart leap to her throat.

”Other than being a bit thinner, there’s no problem! It must have been really tough on the Queen!”

It sounded like words of gratitude but were rife with taunt, clearly showing that Yang Yu was greatly dissatisfied with the actions of the Elf Queen.

”You wait a minute, you are currently facing the queen of the Elf Clan, the last time you saw the Queen you were so submissive, how come after not seeing her for a while, you dare to speak to the Queen with such an attitude, it’s simply disrespectful!”

Iyas kept blinking at Yang Yu, indicating that he should not try to aggravate any elves or their Queen.

But Yang Yu completely ignored the secret codes conveyed by Iyas’s eyes and put forward a new demand,

”Queen, I want to know everything that has happened in the past two days, and I’d also like to hear from my partner the reasons why things have developed this way.

I clearly said before that even if a lot of elves die, you must absolutely not expose your human identity and definitely not use magic!

After she contacted me, there were plenty of opportunities for her not to expose her identity. So why, in the end, did she still reveal it?

What was worth her revealing her identity for!”

The whole room fell silent, aware to some extent why Bai Jin used magic. Bai Jin simply wanted to bring the attention of various elves together, nothing more.

If Bai Jin did as Yang Yu said, would she still be okay here, able to witness this scene?

They despised humans and condemned many faults of humanity, but now, no matter what, they couldn’t apply this disdain and condemnation to Bai Jin, who had used magic in defiance of Yang Yu.

The expressions of many displaced elves changed.

Ailena calmly answered the reason for imprisoning Bai Jin:

”Two days ago, humans attacked Luoyu City, and she used magic in the city and lied to me, saying she was a Black-haired Elf, which is why I locked her up in prison.”

Upon receiving the explanation, Yang Yu immediately faced Bai Jin,

”Then what about Bai Jin? Can you explain everything to me in detail?”

Iyas blinked at Yang Yu again, hoping he would not overstep and converse with the Queen calmly and amicably, at least not as aggressively as he was now.

But not being aggressive was not an option.

Only by doing so could he maintain control of the conversation.

Once someone else took control, they would be led by the nose, and in the end, repeatedly die in a cycle of ”yes,” ”okay,” ”all right.”

Since the elves always thought of all humans as villains, he might as well act more arrogantly, leaning into their image of a villain.

That was Yang Yu’s strategy; for this, he was willing to take on all the blame and draw the elves’ hatred for Bai Jin upon himself.

Seeing that Yang Yu had returned safely and observing his expression, Bai Jin felt warmth in her heart. She knew what role Yang Yu hoped she would play at this moment.

”I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done this.”

Bai Jin’s hands trembled as she lifted them, tears streaming down profusely from her eyes as she cried, desperately apologizing to Yang Yu,

”I’m sorry for the trouble I’ve caused. I didn’t expect things to turn out like this.

I really couldn’t bear to see other elves die from an unknown magic.”
