Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 587: Chapter 587 Rules Between Adventure Groups

“I’m sorry, my uncle is a bit too old-fashioned about some things.”

After leaving the Blood Lion Clan’s residence and walking on the deserted street, Xin Mang frowned and crossed his arms in dissatisfaction,

“Anyone who saw your performance just now would think you’re qualified to join the Dojo.

But, my uncle has always felt that once something is said, it’s like spilled water that can’t be reclaimed. Once he said it, he naturally wouldn’t want to accept you into the Dojo.

It was just a simple conversation between us back then, but he…

Don’t be fooled by his appearance; he actually admires you a lot. Next time, when you go to see him, you should be able to pass his test easily. Don’t be shy, learn whatever skill you want!”

Saying this, Xin Mang looked at Yang Yu and swung his two fluffy tails,

“Your skills are really surprising. You’re still young and have great potential. I understand that you want to contribute to the country right now.

But the war won’t last forever. I can tell you’re not in this war for power or prestige. Deep down, you want to enjoy the freedom and pursue strength.

What do you think? If the war ends, would you like to join my adventure group, Baihua Binfen?

Don’t be fooled by my looks; I’m a Quasi-S Class adventurer, and you could definitely learn a lot from me.”

Faced with the olive branch Xin Mang threw, Yang Yu almost immediately declined,

“I also have my own adventure team; I only left them temporarily to heal my Woodification Disease. Thank you for the invitation, but I won’t leave them to join your adventure group.”

“That’s truly a pity.”

Despite being rejected, Xin Mang’s face showed no discontent. He stopped swirling his tails and drooped them, but quickly started shaking them again,

“You are already an adventurer and even have your own team. Naturally, you should aim for the peak of S-Class adventurers.

I hope that one day we can both be S-Class adventure groups, so we can join forces for warmth.”

“Join forces for warmth?”

In Yang Yu’s view, S-Class adventurers are independent adventure groups, so what Xin Mang meant by joining forces seemed a bit unclear.

Noticing the confusion on Yang Yu’s face, Xin Mang stopped walking,

“I thought with your strength, that your team would already be at A-Class and planning for the future…

Have you ever conquered the Underground Maze?”

Yang Yu truthfully answered, “I have.”

Xin Mang did not ask Yang Yu about his experiences in conquering the Underground Maze, but went straight to the point, “Then you should know the rule among adventurers, where you cannot kill a beast that another has set their eyes on in the Underground Maze.”

“I know that, but not being able to kill… that’s not absolute, right? As long as you leave their treasure untouched, helping them kill the beast should be okay.”

“That’s right. But are there really such kind-hearted adventurers? If there are, send me a dozen of them.”

Yang Yu laughed and suddenly realized what Xin Mang meant, asking, “Between S-Class adventure groups, are there some special rules as well?”

Xin Mang nodded and resumed walking,

“C-Class and D-Class, the lower-tier adventurers typically stay active near forests teeming with demons, only taking tasks from the union and seldom encountering the mightier maze creatures.

Adventurers above B-Class start consciously seeking out Underground Mazes to strategize and acquire treasures.

The Underground Mazes in our world are limited—there’s more wolves than meat.”

Some cunning adventurers engage in rule-breaking behaviors, and the scarcity of B and A Class adventurers is partly due to internal strife.

To acquire treasures within the Underground Maze, one must be prepared to be intercepted halfway.

The stronger the force, the fewer the interceptions.

The lower levels are chaotic, but the upper levels are orderly.

Only S-grade adventure groups have the strength to conquer large underground mazes.

Large mazes are also rare and extremely difficult to conquer, not something that can be easily accomplished.

Two completely different S-grade adventurers might indeed encounter each other.

Assuming that you know your own adventure group can conquer a treasure-filled underground maze, but then a stronger adventure group follows behind, what would you do?

Now suppose you are the latter adventure group, how would you act?”

Yang Yu thought for a moment and replied, “The Underground Maze holds countless treasures; no one would willingly leave.”

“Exactly. You’re very clever,” Xin Mang smiled back at Yang Yu, “Faced with the lure of treasures, no one would willingly walk away. What do you think would be the best strategy for both parties at such a time?”

Before Yang Yu could ponder thoroughly, Xin Mang revealed the answer.

“If both sides strike hard, it might benefit a third party.

Hence, a special rule was established among S-grade adventurers.

The later arriving adventure group gives the earlier group some time for the conquest, followed by a one-on-one duel between representatives from both groups.

The pure victories multiplied by the given time becomes the winner team’s conquest duration.

For example, if our adventure group follows yours, we grant you eight hours to conquer the Maze Guardian. If after eight hours you still haven’t won, and we win a three-to-two victory in the duel, we then get eight hours to attempt the conquest.

After eight hours, participants are switched.

Moreover, as per the rules, the later arriving adventurers must give at least two hours but no more than eight hours to the earlier adventurers for their attempt.”

Yang Yu scratched his head; he had never encountered other S-grade adventure groups while conquering underground mazes, nor did he frequently encounter other adventurers.

One maze had just appeared and was immediately conquered by Yang Yu; another was conquered by him before it even emerged from the ground; there was also a maze in a deserted desert, constantly hiding itself, yet it was conquered by Yang Yu.

With the appearance of the Hall of Wisdom, Lux’s various underground mazes have begun to take root.

According to the intelligence Yang Yu gathered from the All Things Library as he left, several unusually large underground mazes had been discovered.

According to Skagad in the Hall of Wisdom, after an underground maze is completed, it actively emits a special magic power to attract others to conquer it.

Apart from the super large mazes in remote corners, other underground mazes might already have been occupied by other S-grade adventurers intent on conquering them.

“It’s indeed a troublesome rule. But, it can be said to ensure the rights and interests of each adventure group. I thought they would cooperate in the conquest.”

“Such situations do exist. Under mutual agreement, two S-grade adventure groups will join arms and challenge the maze together. This only happens when the difference in their capabilities is minimal.

Often, each adventure group fights solely for their own interests.”

“That’s why you just mentioned banding together for warmth.”

“After all, the rules will change with the coalition of the adventure groups. We have two adventure groups; in a confrontation, it becomes one against two. The larger group can take advantage and bully the later arriving S-grade adventure group.”
