Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 598: Chapter 598 Goddess Sect Saintess

Within the borders of the Luo Ze Empire, in the bitterly cold north, heavy snow had already prematurely arrived, dyeing many scenes a pristine white.

In the northeast of the Luo Ze Empire Capital, there lay a special city.

A dazzling pale golden light shield seemed to completely isolate the city from the outside world, starting from the moat and enveloping the entire city within.

Floating snowflakes landed on the light shield, were absorbed by it, and turned into droplets of water, merging into the city’s moat.

Passing through the barrier, an unusual warmth dispelled the cold, and various beautiful flowers bloomed in abundance.

Travelers in thick clothing found themselves encumbered upon arriving here, and soon they shed their garments, joining the pedestrians in radiating joyous smiles.

In the center of the city stood an incredibly large church, its size rivaling, even surpassing, the Imperial Palace where the royal family of the Luo Ze Empire resided.

The church, made of gold and white, featured in front a lifelike goddess statue with palms joined, gazing upwards at a 45-degree angle, and spreading pristine white wings with two angels, one on each side, half-turned and bowing in prayer to the goddess.

From the front, the church roughly resembled a spaceship pointing towards the sky.

At the pinnacle was flawless gold, topped with a cross—or rather, a white cross star surrounded by numerous halos.

In the middle front of the church, there was a giant clock embedded, with peculiar golden hands on a pure white dial pointing at golden numerals, emitting a strange glow. Even against the light, where the contrast between gold and white was low, believers afar could still clearly see the time on the dial.

The lower half of the church naturally housed archways for entry, with a huge arch underneath the clock, incredibly pristine, and a smaller door on each side corresponding to the two angels praying to the goddess.

This was the Holy City Helogig, and this church was the Spiel Cathedral of the Goddess Sect.

In days past, this place was bustling with carriages and horses, with believers continuously flocking to the Spiel Cathedral for pilgrimages.

Today, it was very quiet, all the believers gathered around the cathedral, yet not approaching closely.

They were dressed in clean clothes, scrubbed from head to toe, not a corner left untouched.

By this time, they had fasted for an entire month, a devout ritual, all to jointly witness a single event.

At this moment, inside the cathedral, a mature woman was praying to another goddess statue within.

She was dressed in a white gown befitting the Goddess Sect, wearing a veil held down by a necklace resembling water droplets, which fell to the purplish-blue fringe in front of her forehead.

“Saintess, the final rites have been completed. Please, Saintess, board the carriage for the world pilgrimage.”

“I understand. I will be there shortly.”

Receiving the response, the believers slowly retreated, leaving only the Saintess alone.

This marked the final scene of a series of intricate rituals, as Goddess Sect Saintess Feng Yu·Herarola Ajier slowly opened her eyes, looking up at the towering goddess statue before her, as if she could hear the statue whispering to her.

It was a tradition in the Goddess Sect that when a Saintess’ tenure reached twenty years, she would embark on a pilgrimage to visit various Goddess Sect cathedrals around the world, offering solace to the people.

When she returned to Holy City Helogig, she would relinquish the power granted to her by the goddess and the authority given to her by the church, passing them to the next generation Saintess.

Put simply, the Goddess Sect preferred young girls as Saintesses, and Feng Yu was already too old.

Although the next candidate for Saintess was not yet present, the Saintess’ tour required time, during which they would do their utmost to find her.

If no suitable candidate was found, they would select a new one before the Saintess’ return.

Slowly standing up, Feng Yu also knew her time as the Saintess was running out. At this moment, the power of the Holy Light within her had reached its peak.

If she failed to transfer this power to her successor after returning from her pilgrimage, the Holy Light within her would gradually weaken with the goddess’s blessing, leading to irreversible loss.

Feng Yu dearly wished to use this power to help those in need one more time, but time waits for no one. Thus, she could only sprinkle as much of her Holy Light along her journey as possible, blessing everyone.

Treading on the red carpet, crossing the wide hall, Saintess Feng Yu, escorted by a priest of the Goddess Sect, boarded a pristine carriage pulled by a unicorn.

The assembled believers of the Goddess Sect knelt in unison before the Saintess.

In the days when the goddess was absent, the Saintess was the spokesperson of the goddess; faithful prayers when the Saintess left the residence of the goddess, would fulfill their wishes.

Such had been the custom since ancient times.

One by one, the believers knelt before the carriage, watching the Saintess leave Helogig until she had completely departed the city, never ceasing their prayers.

This was an opportunity that came only once in more than two decades; they would maintain this status until dark night fell, hoping even slightly that the goddess would hear their true wishes.

In a hidden dark corner of Holy City Helogig, a man wrapped in bandages witnessed all this,

“There’s no surprise, left on time.

Foolish Goddess Sect, spending so much time on meaningless prayers instead of working; only work can create a truly happy life.

Well, let them see that the Saintess of the Goddess Sect is no different from ordinary mortals. Let me break their pitiful fantasy of getting something for nothing.

But not now, I need to deliver that item to Generous Gao Fang first, then, the matter of the Abyss Gate and Tu Jing’s death can proceed.”

Having finished speaking, the shadow, holding nothing, completely vanished into the darkness of the street, leaving behind a sneer at the Goddess Sect.

At this moment,

In a certain forest, a blond man wearing a crimson cape, accompanied by a girl with orange hair and a Hapi girl with feathered arms, was hunting demons.

A giant lizard monster charged at the blond man, who simply stood in place, took a deep breath, and then swung his sword forward, easily slicing the huge lizard monster in half.

The girl with orange hair clapped her hands and approached the blond man cheerfully, making somewhat flirtatious gestures.

“Truly, Lord Vorquis is worthy of praise, to fell such a powerful demon with a single strike.”

The Hapi girl with blue wings, lifting her wings to cover the ugly shackle marks on her neck, cautiously approached Vorquis.

Before she could speak to comfort Vorquis, she noticed his usually composed smile had turned incredibly stern.

On Vorquis’ system interface, a task identical to Yang Yu’s popped up.
