The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1289: Chapter 1289: Still Protecting Caryn Zachmann Everywhere

Caryn was similarly stunned by the sudden slap, covering her face and taking quite a while to recover.

”Dad!” Hendrik reacted more strongly than her, shielding his sister behind him, his handsome face barely able to conceal his anger as he questioned the man, ”Dad, what are you doing!”

Leonardy was so furious that his face turned ashen, pointing at him, ”You still have the nerve to ask me what I’m doing, you tell me what I’m doing. Step aside! I’ll settle the score with her first and then with you!”

Hendrik didn’t move, his 1.8-meter frame standing like a mountain in front of him, his handsome face stern, ”You can take it out on me, but what did Caryn do wrong for you to hit her?”

”Ha!” Leonardy sneered seeing him refuse to step aside, ”You tell me what she did wrong. Ever since Nathalie got into Tsinghua University, she’s been unable to see your sister doing well and has been targeting Nathalie. Previously, when the family held a celebration banquet for your sister’s admission, not only did she not show up as a family member, but she also spread the word in the circle not to let others come. If it weren’t for Mr. Norton and the others, along with your grandfather’s friends attending, do you know how embarrassing it would have been that day?”

Hendrik hadn’t heard about the celebration banquet incident, so he instinctively turned his head, frowning and giving Caryn a look. When he saw Caryn’s messy hair and the slight swelling on her cheek from their father’s slap, he softened.

”...I believe Caryn didn’t do it intentionally.” Even Hendrik himself felt unsure saying it, his gaze weakly avoiding looking at his father.

Leonardy kept his face grim and sneered again as he continued, ”Alright, that wasn’t intentional. Then what about the school anniversary incident, how will she explain that?”

”She still hasn’t apologized to Nathalie in public for that! Do you think that just apologizing to Nathalie in private will make it all go away as if nothing happened?”

Caryn had recovered from the slap, but hearing her father’s words, she bit her lip, feeling utterly humiliated.

”School anniversary, school anniversary, always the school anniversary!”

They kept clinging to that school anniversary incident. Did they want her to kneel and apologize to Nathalie?

Hendrik also recalled how he had forced Caryn to apologize at the nursing home before; although she didn’t apologize, it was embarrassing enough in front of so many people. Now his father brought up the school anniversary again, and he couldn’t help but stand by Caryn’s side, defending her, ”...Dad, hasn’t this matter already passed? Let bygones be bygones; why do you keep bringing it up?”

Leonardy saw how he was still defending Caryn and, recalling his attitude towards Nathalie, felt an inexplicable chill, suddenly understanding why Mr. Zachmann had such a serious tone during their phone call. With such attitudes from the siblings, it was no wonder the old man felt disheartened!

He took a deep breath, lowering his hand, his expression still extremely grim, ”Fine, I won’t bring up past matters with you. But what’s going on this time? Why did your grandfather call me saying you siblings bullied Nathalie again?”

Bringing this up, Leonardy felt as if a stick was pounding in his head, causing pain all over his skull, ”She’s your sister, not your enemy! How many times have I told you, the Zachmann Family owes a debt of gratitude to Nathalie’s mother. The good life you all have today is partly due to her, and if you can’t repay her, at least don’t bully your sister. Why can’t you just behave?”

Taking another deep breath, he wore a cold face, his eyes turning harsh and serious, ”If you’re not willing to listen, then get out. I’ll act as if I never had you, don’t say you’re part of the Zachmann Family anymore!”

These words were not just harsh.
