The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1265: Chapter 1265: Sorry, your Nathalie does not accept

”Okay.” Caryn Zachmann finally let out a sigh of relief when Hendrik Zachmann agreed to take some time out.

She hung up the phone and opened the group messages.

In the short time she was on the phone, there were already 99+ new messages in the group.

Most were discussing the gathering later, while a small cluster of discordant voices brought up the news about the world software competition.

However, not many people were discussing it.

She casually scrolled through, and neither Sadam Vinson nor anyone else chimed in, as if no one saw her mention everyone in the group to gather.

Caryn Zachmann felt utterly embarrassed.

She found Amadeus Yancey’s WhatsApp, intending to privately send him a message to ask if he had time to come.

But then she remembered how even Govert Griffin had bluntly refused, not giving her any face, unwilling to join, and her heart sank halfway.

Caryn Zachmann hesitated repeatedly due to face, and ultimately did not send the message.

Meanwhile, after Caryn Zachmann hung up, Hendrik Zachmann picked up his car keys and said to the man sitting opposite him, ”Mr. Barness, do you have any plans later?”

”Huh?” Evron Barness was wearing a blue shirt today, sitting with his legs crossed, carefree, drinking coffee. Hearing this, he put the cup down and looked at him in bewilderment, ”What plans?”

”I’m asking if you have any plans tonight. Like having dinner with Mr. Yapiter or something?” Hendrik Zachmann slightly frowned, as if something was on his mind.

”Oh.” Evron Barness suddenly realized and said leisurely, ”My grandfather has already met his important friend and returned to Kingsbury yesterday. So, I have no plans. Once I’m done with my business in Beijing, I’ll head back to the Illegal Zone.”

Hendrik Zachmann was holding the car keys in one hand, and in the other, he was holding his phone, seemingly checking messages.

Evron Barness, not knowing what he was up to, curiously raised an eyebrow and asked, ”Why did you ask about my plans for tonight? Is there something going on?”

Hendrik Zachmann glanced at WhatsApp. The person with the blank avatar in his friend list was extremely quiet; they hadn’t replied to a single message.

The only message they had in common was the transfer refund information sent by WhatsApp itself.

That day, the 99999 he sent to Nathalie Quinlan, she never accepted it. The transfer bounced back to him after 24 hours since it wasn’t claimed.

Hendrik Zachmann never expected Nathalie Quinlan to not accept the red envelope he sent. He had thought about asking Stanley Zachmann to come forward to mediate the family’s tense relationships.

But when he recalled what Audrick Zachmann said that day, he felt too embarrassed to face this uncle who had been so kind to him since childhood.

”Hendrik?” Evron Barness noticed he was just staring blankly at his phone screen, not speaking, so he turned his head to call him.

Hendrik Zachmann snapped back to reality, looking bewildered at him, ”Huh? What’s up.”

Evron Barness wanted to laugh but held it in, replied with slight annoyance, ”You ask me what’s up, it’s me who should be asking you. You talked halfway and then sat there in a daze, so deeply lost in thought!”

”...”

The family’s dirty laundry shouldn’t be aired publicly.

Hendrik Zachmann put his phone down, kneading the brows that had been knit together for days, annoyed, ”It’s nothing. Right, what was I asking you about again.”

”Come on! It’s me asking you.” Evron Barness rolled his eyes, rather helplessly, ”I asked why you were asking about my evening plans, then you just sat there captivated by your phone, no clue what you were looking at.”

Hendrik Zachmann’s temples throbbed, irritation growing, then recalled he was the one asking Evron Barness.

He reluctantly gathered his thoughts, lifting his mature, handsome face slightly, ”Do you have time tonight? Caryn passed the preliminary review at Master Cadmus’s laboratory. She’s inviting friends to celebrate at the Serenity Clubhouse. I need to go over. What about you, do you have time? If so, join me.”
