The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 99: Chapter 99: Traced to Jane Bailey’s Head_1

But every time he returned to Beijing, the background noise during phone calls seemed noisy.

As expected, right after she asked, she heard the man’s evasive voice, ”Hmm, there’s a bit of an issue.”

”Do you really not want me to come forward and help you settle it?”

He knew Nathalie Quinlan was formidable. Although he wasn’t clear on how much of Pinecone Group’s shares were hers, Nathalie’s stake in the Pinecone Group was definitely not small!

But after all, she had only just recognized her family, and it wasn’t appropriate for her to come forward with many matters.

Nathalie’s porcelain-white profile was stunning and striking as she said lightly, ”It’s just a minor issue, no need. At most it’ll take three days to find out.”

She deftly changed the topic.

”When are you coming back?”

”Why, missing Dad?” Lowie Wilmar never passed up the opportunity for an advantage.

Nathalie was used to his sarcasm, and wanted to put her hand in her pocket but remembered the splint on her arm, so she walked back to the desk, picked up her backpack, and found the bottle of chewing gum, popping a little sweet ball in her mouth, ”I’ll treat you to Hot Pot when you get back.”

”Just for that, I’m taking an airplane back tomorrow!”

Nathalie thought the school would take at least two or three days to investigate.

But the results came faster than she expected.

The next day, the investigation led to Jane Bailey.

Jane was really foolish, not even thinking about the school’s omnipresent surveillance cameras when she went to the top floor to tamper with things. She believed that choosing a time when everyone was at morning exercise and the hallways were empty to slip up to the top floor would allow her to wait for the ’prey’ to go behind the teaching building as planned.

Then, she could cut the rope binding the steel pipe and create an accident where the steel pipe rolled down and hit someone.

What she didn’t anticipate was that her every move was caught clearly on surveillance.

The principal called her into the office that same day. At first, she vehemently denied everything, crying and making a scene to prove her innocence and even accusing the school of slandering an innocent student in order to protect privileged families.

But when the security office laid the evidence before her, she immediately admitted to her actions.

It was the first time such an atrocious incident had occurred in the hundred-year history of No. 1 Middle School, and the school immediately called her parents.

Because this matter was more than just a minor scuffle between students, Jane’s actions also involved intentional injury and even attempted murder.

Once her parents arrived, the school made a phone call to the police.

The Police drove to the school and took her away.

Because Jane was caught during class time, many people saw the police enter the school and take someone away.

Coupled with the fact that many had already crowded into the infirmary the day before to watch, they knew about the two girls from Class A who almost got killed by the falling steel pipe from the top floor of the teaching building.

The incident caused a huge stir in no time.

Many students’ parents, upon hearing about the incident, clamored for the school to investigate thoroughly, demanding the expulsion of such harmful individuals to ensure the safety of their children at school.

Jane quickly became an object of scorn at No. 1 Middle School.

Even her previously close classmates were now viewed with suspicion by everyone.

Especially Ghania Quinlan, who had been in the limelight recently due to the Tsinghua University professor incident, almost becoming an idol for the people at No. 1 Middle School.

Because of her good relationship with Jane, and because many people had seen her speaking to the ’criminal’ at the infirmary, whispers began to circulate in the school that she was involved as well.

Ghania Quinlan was in an awkward situation, forced to keep a low profile, and had to ask for a few days off from the new head teacher, using the pretext of preparing for her piano exams.
