The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 66: Chapter 66: It Seems There Is a Hidden Ailment in the Leg_1

Oh my god, Alfred Garland saw the little devil’s shy and awkward demeanor, as if witnessing a fierce tiger acting coy, and he almost wished to gouge his own eyes out!

The young master is never this well-behaved in front of Mr. Yancey, what charm does Ms. Quinlan possess?

Nathalie Quinlan pursed her lips, realizing he was greeting her, and twisted her brow with a bit of a headache, unsure how to respond.

She had no idea how to interact with children, especially those around 5 or 6 years old. She fell silent for a few seconds, and, before the little boy’s eyes grew dim, she sighed, walked over, took out a bottle of breath mints from her bag, and popped a small candy into his hand.

”Nathalie.”

Edric Yancey’s palm suddenly held a piece of candy, his eyes lighting up once more, so delighted he nearly jumped for joy, yet, mindful of his image, he restrained himself.

Torn between not wanting to eat the candy and fearing that Nathalie would misinterpret his refusal as dislike, he hesitated for a moment, reluctantly fed the small candy into his mouth with his long lashes drooping.

Mmm, it’s so sweet!

He closed his eyes contentedly, his action somewhat resembling how Nathalie sometimes looked when she ate candy.

Amadeus Yancey, seeing him reveal his childlike side for once, felt even tough guys soften, and asked him, ”Is the candy tasty?”

”Delicious!”

Edric nodded his head like a pecking chick, extremely pleased, all the while keeping his eyes firmly on Nathalie, fearful she might run away.

Nathalie saw that his gaze followed her wherever she went, seemingly very dependent on her, and although she didn’t understand why he trusted her so much, she still pursed her lips and noticed the fruit placed beside the bed.

She walked over, picked up a pear, and then asked Alfred where the fruit knife was.

In no time, she had peeled a pear. Instead of cutting it into small pieces, she handed over the whole peeled pear and asked with lowered eyes, ”Do you want some?”

The same little brat who had been picky and rude about the pear Ghania Quinlan had peeled for him was now like a changed person – completely uncritical and adorably munching on the large pear Nathalie had peeled for him.

Amadeus knew all too well how difficult he was to deal with. At the Yancey family mansion in Beijing, the little ancestor would only eat fruit that was peeled and cut by others, and only when he was in a good mood.

Watching him behave obediently in front of Nathalie, Amadeus chuckled without disturbing the peaceful and beautiful scene as he watched them chat in a haphazard fashion.

”Sister, the candy you gave me earlier was really sweet, was it orange candy?”

”No, it wasn’t.”

”Then, was it apple candy?”

Nathalie noticed that whenever he talked to her, he would occasionally cover his left leg with his hand as if there was some imperfection there, and she discreetly offered him another small candy.

”Here you go.”

Edric cupped the white candy as if it were a precious treasure, his smile so broad that his teeth were barely visible.

Nathalie, beautiful and cool, said, ”If you like it, I’ll bring you more next time.”

Edric’s eyes shone brighter, and he nodded eagerly, both well-behaved and cutely soft, ”Mhm.”

Amadeus looked on at the candy she took out, feeling a sense of déjà vu, yet couldn’t recall where he had seen it before.

At the Quinlan family home, Emilia Sullivan watched as Ghania Quinlan left with high spirits and returned with a pale face, her heart aching as she pulled her aside and had a servant bring soup and took her temperature, fearing that her old ailments were flaring up again.

”What’s the matter, Ghania? Did it not go smoothly? Does Zayn Fisher’s nephew not like you?”

Ghania Quinlan, tugging at her dress corner, spoke in irritation about Edric Yancey, ”I have never seen such a child! No matter how I tried to please him, he never gave me a friendly face.”

Seeing her dislike for Edric Yancey, Emilia also showed displeasure and dismissively said, ”Alright, don’t be angry. He’s just a kid after all. I heard he is being brought up by the mother’s side and doesn’t live with Richardo Fisher. No matter how much he dislikes you, it won’t affect your future.”

”I hope so.”

Ghania thought of how confident she had been about winning over that child today, and the child’s attitude towards her made her feel unbearably aggrieved.

Especially since on the way back, Mrs. Fisher’s cold demeanor had left her frustrated and confused.

At that moment, Ghania lifted her head as if recalling something, then said, ”By the way, Mom, has Dad come back yet?”
