The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Could it be that time of the month?_1

Jhovany Sullivan immediately hid the item in her hands behind her back, forcing a smile, ”Nathalie, Nathalie Quinlan, how come you’re back?”

Her reaction wasn’t that intense, so Nathalie didn’t pay much attention. She walked over, pulled out a chair, and sat down, ”Ms. Sullivan just said two sentences to me and let me come back.”

”Oh, oh, oh,” Jhovany nodded continuously, but she didn’t dare to look at her.

Nathalie slightly narrowed her eyes, but she didn’t continue to inquire. Instead, she acted as if she hadn’t noticed anything out of the ordinary and opened her book to play with her phone as usual.

From the corner of her eye, Nathalie saw Jhovany sigh with relief and sneakily take out the item she had hidden in her hand to take a quick glance. Her expression was complex, obviously very conflicted.

Did Nathalie see her hide what seemed to be a note?

A note?

She pondered with lowered eyelids, utterly baffled as to why Jhovany would hide a note so nervously, as if she didn’t want her to see it.

And clearly, the note she had hidden had been found on her seat.

Throughout the next two physics classes, Jhovany was distracted. Several times the teacher called on her to answer a question, and she had no idea what the teacher was talking about. Even Justin Wafford noticed something was off and chased after her when they were supposed to go for morning exercises, asking her what was wrong.

But Jhovany ran off without saying anything.

The more Nathalie observed, the more she felt something was amiss. She put away her phone and, under the surprised gazes of Justin and Freddy Cagwin, she put her hands in her pockets and walked out with the crowd.

”Nathalie, are you going down for morning exercises?” Justin asked as if he had seen a ghost.

Freddy was also puzzled. Nathalie didn’t like crowded places and had already asked Nancy Sullivan for permission to skip morning exercises. Usually, when they went down for exercises, she stayed in the classroom to play with her phone or rest. Why had she suddenly decided to go down today?

Nathalie didn’t mention Jhovany’s situation, she just replied to him, ”Just going to have a look.”

Scratching his head, Justin still couldn’t figure out what was going on, ”I’ve never seen you go down before. Seriously, I don’t understand you girls, each one of you is so weird.”

Freddy, who had been getting along well with Nathalie and Jhovany lately, patted Justin’s shoulder with the air of one who had mixed with society, very seriously suggesting, ”Maybe it’s that time of the month.”

Justin: ...

Dude, you’re awesome!

It was time for morning exercises, and nearly everyone from the high school division had gone to the field. It was extremely crowded and chaotic.

Following the girl in the strawberry dress, Nathalie noticed that she obviously hadn’t headed to the field but had quietly turned a corner and rushed to the back of the teaching building instead.

Jhovany Sullivan was the typical diligent student with good grades and obedient behavior. She wouldn’t skip morning exercises without a special reason.

It only took a moment’s hesitation before Nathalie decided to follow her.

During the morning exercises, music played in the air, and there was no one behind the teaching building. Nathalie saw Jhovany at the lawn at the back of the building, looking around strangely as if she was searching for someone.

It seemed like someone had asked her to come here, but that person hadn’t shown up.

As Nathalie was getting distracted, a muffled sound like something breaking came from the top floor. Instinctively she looked up, just in time to see discarded construction materials tumbling over the railing from the building’s roof.

The target was Jhovany Sullivan, who was still unaware of the danger!

Her pupils dilated as she shouted, ”Danger! Get out of the way!”

Her body moved faster than the sound of her voice and she dashed forward.

Jhovany, upon hearing the voice, didn’t react in time and stupidly looked at her, calling out in confusion, ”Nathalie?”

Then she instinctively looked up to see something hurtling toward her, turning pale with fright.

At the last critical moment, Nathalie embraced her and lunged forward, rolling over to push her to safety. At the same time, steel pipes from the top of the building grazed over her arm with a muffled crash—
