The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Amadeus Online Asking for Money_1

Edric Yancey hurried back, only to discover Nathalie Quinlan had left, and his eyes immediately dimmed, like a deflated ball, listless.

”Has sister left?”

Amadeus Yancey put down his stuff, took out his phone to check a message, his thin lips briefly touching as he said, ”She left, she sent a message saying she’s returning to school for classes.”

”Oh.”

Catching sight of his dispirited appearance, Amadeus Yancey’s thin lips curved, he tousled his hair and lazily said, ”If you’re good, I’ll take you to pick her up after school.”

”Really?” The little head that had just drooped suddenly shot up.

Amadeus Yancey was in a good mood, put his phone away, his eye sockets deep, he didn’t answer directly, ”Depends on your behavior.”

If he behaved well and was obedient, Amadeus would consider seeing.

Alfred Garland just happened to come in from outside, saw them talking without seeing Nathalie Quinlan, and asked in surprise, ”Amadeus, has Ms. Quinlan gone to school? I didn’t see her.”

”Yes.”

Alfred Garland breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, Ms. Quinlan wasn’t there; some things would be easier to say.

He leaned close to Amadeus Yancey’s ear and whispered, ”Amadeus, someone in the Black Market is offering a high price for rare materials.”

All the domestic resources in this sector were controlled by them. Though these items seemed insignificant, aerospace materials and advanced weapons required them, so controlling these was essentially controlling a lot.

Such power couldn’t be achieved without a certain level of status.

”Who wants them?” Amadeus Yancey’s pupils were deep, slightly dark, his thoughts impenetrable.

”People from the Red Alliance.”

Alfred Garland said with some bemusement, ”They usually don’t get involved in this stuff. Why are they suddenly buying it now? The price they’ve offered is very high, and besides money, they’ve said they’re willing to trade with information.”

The Red Alliance was both righteous and nefarious, holding plenty of secret messages in their hands, and had a certain reputation overseas.

”Amadeus, do we give it to them?”

Amadeus Yancey’s fingers rested on his arm, gently lifted, his hands well-formed, his skin creamy white like jade, the flesh evenly distributed without any superfluous fat, and fingers long with round, neatly trimmed nails.

After a while, he languidly half-closed his eyelids, ”Release a message, tell them to up the price.”

Alfred Garland: ...

You’re not short of money.

Although he thought as much, he nodded and agreed, ”Alright.”

Amadeus Yancey, from the corner of his eye, noticed the little one hurrying to behave, grabbing a small stool to sit and peel fruit for him, and suddenly asked, ”Have you found the doctor I asked you to look for?”

Filled with guilt upon this mention, Alfred Garland lowered his head, his tone weak, ”That genius doctor ’he’ is as elusive as a sighting of a dragon; simply can’t find the person. Amadeus, could it be that this person doesn’t exist at all? Otherwise, why can’t we find him no matter how much we search?”

”Medicine he’s made is still being sold in the Black Market; he can’t not exist, he’s just well-hidden.”

”Continue the search.”

Alfred Garland responded, and as if something struck him, he suddenly looked up, ”Amadeus, doesn’t Ms. Quinlan have medical skills? Why not have Ms. Quinlan check the young master?”

No sooner had he spoken than even he thought his suggestion was laughable. Nathalie Quinlan was accompanied by so many neurosurgeons that day, the successful surgery might just have been a fluke. The young master’s status was precious, treasured by Mr. Yancey like nothing else; if anything went wrong, who could bear the responsibility?

He silently smacked his lips, touched his nose bridge, ”Never mind, I’ll keep looking.”

...

After school, Nathalie Quinlan received an unsigned text message with just two words—[Add money.]

The corners of her eyes reddened with irritation, a touch of wild, untamed pride flared as she ’huh’ snorted with a mixture of anger and amusement.

She had shown nine figures, and they still wanted more money, talk about extortion!

Just as she put her phone back in her pocket, a black Bentley suddenly stopped in front of her, the car door opened, and a butler-like man got out and walked up to her, blocking Nathalie Quinlan’s path.
