The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 98: Chapter 98: Robbing a Bank is Not as Fast as Robbing You_1

Nathalie Quinlan’s injury seemed to cause very little commotion; she had just returned from the hospital when she received a call from Lowie Wilmar.

”Hello.” Nathalie had just changed into fresh clothes and hastily taken a shower; her hair was still dripping wet over her shoulders. She had reapplied a splint to her right hand, making many tasks less convenient than before.

So, she simply turned on the speakerphone and placed her phone aside, while opening her laptop.

Wanting to check if there was any news about rare materials from the Red Alliance.

”You hurt your hand? Who did this? Was it those people from the Quinlan family again? Damn it, that bunch of idiots never quits, do they? Relying on the fact that you’ve lived with their family for years, they’re pushing their luck, aren’t they!”

The background noise on the phone was loud, indicating that he was outside; Lowie’s voice was filled with anger.

Nathalie could almost visualize him in front of her, kicking a trash bin in a fit of rage.

Switching to her other hand, she turned down the volume of her phone to avoid being overheard by outsiders.

She spoke slowly, ”It’s not confirmed that Ghania did it. I don’t think she’s that stupid.”

She understood people like Ghania, raised in pampering and craving attention, jealous of anyone doing well, but not the type to act without thinking.

”Ghania is more into putting on airs. Asking her to directly push a steel pipe down the stairs to hit someone—she wouldn’t do it.”

”Then who could it be?” Lowie paused for a moment before clicking his tongue, ”Nathalie, I didn’t expect you to be so disliked. One after another, they’re either trying to disgust you or going after your life. Did you stir up a hornet’s nest or something?”

”Maybe I kicked over a trash can.”

Although Nathalie said this with a smirk, her eyes were on the message from @ilovebeingskinny—sun, the other party had replied, claiming there was not enough money.

”Damn!” She couldn’t help but feel her forehead throb as she cursed out loud.

Lowie was on the other end, clamoring, ”What happened? What’s going on?”

Nathalie didn’t have time to pay attention to him, her gaze fixed on the computer screen, unable to vent her frustration.

The price had gone up.

Ha!

She indeed seemed to have kicked over a trash can—lately, even the trash was getting crafty!

Nathalie laughed out of frustration, replying to the message online—[sun: Why doesn’t he just rob a bank?]

The laptop screen quickly lit up with a new message.

It was @ilovebeingskinny replying to her.

[@ilovebeingskinny: Boss, aren’t you joking? Robbing a bank wouldn’t bring in money as fast as robbing you.]

A twitch formed at the corner of Nathalie’s mouth, momentarily unsure how to respond.

Indeed, which bank could hand out nine figures just like that?

But rare materials were tightly controlled by every country; even though channels existed on the black market, sellers were incredibly secretive. To buy, one had to follow their rules!

Uncle Cagwin’s spine needed rare materials, and so did the little guy’s leg.

After brief consideration, Nathalie replied to the message, instructing him to continue making contact, to raise the offer once more; if the other party still wouldn’t budge, they should try a different approach—not to mention money but to let the other party set the terms.

After sending the message, Nathalie quickly logged off.

Just like with her phone, once she exited the conversation, the chat software automatically disappeared from the computer.

On the other end of the phone, Lowie continued to chirp, asking what happened, why she had stopped talking.

Nathalie placed her laptop back in her backpack and only then responded to him, ”Nothing’s up, just replied to a message. I’ll take care of the school matters, you don’t need to worry about it. Have you gone to Beijing?”

She knew that Lowie would travel to Beijing every now and then for reasons unknown to her, and frankly, she wasn’t concerned.
