The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 61: Chapter 61: The Little Ancestor from Beijing_1

South Garden Section A, 8th floor hospitalization area, where every level exclusively houses private wards, all equipped with air conditioners, TVs, and even an individual fridge and a small private reception room.

Ghania Quinlan’s palms were sweating with nerves at that moment; she had hurried home right after school let out, changed her clothes promptly, meticulously applied makeup, and then followed Zayn Fisher to the hospital to visit a relative rumored to be of very high status from Beijing.

Although the Quinlan family was wealthy, they still couldn’t squeeze into the upper echelons of McKinney society, let alone touch the fringes of Beijing.

So when she heard Zayn say that the person they were visiting was young but the darling of the entire Fisher family, someone even Mrs. Fisher would coddle, a little ancestor they couldn’t afford to offend, she felt extremely nervous the whole way there.

Even Zayn had noticed it.

Right before they entered the ward, he considerately squeezed her shoulder, reassuring her in a gentle voice, ”Don’t worry, you’ve prepared so many toys for Edric, you’re so kind, he will like you.”

”Besides, I’m here with you, what’s there to fear?”

With her delicate beauty and fair skin, Ghania felt slightly reassured by his words, demurely lowering her eyelids and holding his arm while she whispered softly, ”I’m afraid I might mess up and embarrass you.”

Zayn loved her utterly dependent demeanor, something Nathalie Quinlan could never achieve. He tilted his head and gently hooked the girl’s nose with his finger, giving a slight smile, brimming with masculine confidence, ”Silly girl. Don’t I have your back? My mom and brother are there, let’s go in.”

”Okay.”

Every time Ghania thought about meeting Mrs. Fisher again, she recalled the embarrassing scene in the school administrative office from earlier that day, which made her feel panicky inside.

The smile on her face was somewhat forced as she held onto Zayn’s arm, together they opened the door to the ward.

...

In the ward, a little boy around 5 years of age sat on the hospital bed, his beautiful features as though meticulously crafted, looking adorably pristine and snowy.

Only his eyes held a heavy malice.

Mrs. Fisher was enthusiastically bustling around him.

”Mom, bro. I’ve brought Ghania over. Is Edric okay?” Zayn greeted the people in the room.

Both Mrs. Fisher and Richardo Fisher turned their heads, with Mrs. Fisher responding with a noncommittal ’hmm,’ showing no further interest in Ghania.

Obviously still holding a grudge over that morning’s incident at No. 1 Middle School.

Ghania felt awkward and even more aggrieved inside; it wasn’t her fault, after all. Who would have known that Nathalie Quinlan was acting heroically, and Mrs. Fisher hadn’t told them her relative was a spoiled rich kid running riot in the streets.

Luckily, Zayn whispered to her, helping to ease the situation, ”Ghania, didn’t you buy pears for Edric? Why don’t you peel one for him?”

Eager for a chance to prove herself, Ghania nodded hurriedly: ”I will do it right now.”

In no time, she had peeled the pear, thoughtfully leaving some skin on, using it to create a cute little bunny-shaped pear piece, confidently presenting it.

”Aunt, I peeled some fruit for Edric.”

Mrs. Fisher, who usually looked down on her, was now unable to calm the child herself; seeing Ghania come over with the fruit, and finding the shapes quite nice, she made room and, for once, looked her straight in the eye: ”Try and see if Edric will eat?”

It was just a matter of coaxing a little child, thought Ghania, filled with confidence as she approached the hospital bed, greeting the boy warmly and gently: ”You’re Edric, right? Hello. I’m a friend of your Uncle Zayn.”

”...” No response.

Unfazed, Ghania took a bunny-shaped piece of pear on a toothpick and offered it. ”Are you hungry, Edric? Would you like a piece of pear? Look, this pear looks just like a little bunny, isn’t it cute? It’s inviting Edric to play with them.”

Edric Yancey finally looked at her, his obsidian-like eyes reflecting her image, her heart raced, and the corners of her mouth involuntarily lifted, believing she had succeeded.

But then.

”Are you retarded?”
