Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 188: Chapter 91 Accidents Come Faster Than Tomorrow_3

The shuttle boat quickly approached the location of the Cow Herder.

It stopped directly on the flight deck where the Cow Herder’s aircraft were parked.

The director was the first to disembark, with bulky heavy power armor nearly obscuring the shuttle boat’s hatch.

As soon as Chen Ming disembarked, others immediately gathered around, escorting Chen Ming towards the interior of the ship.

From the flight deck to the nearby ship’s interior hatch, it was less than twenty meters.

However, on this short distance, Chen Ming suddenly felt a slight oddness near his temple.

It was like the feeling when a barber holds a blade close to his neck.

Chen Ming was aware that his perception of danger was very keen, so this sensation made him raise his arm immediately to shield his temple.

Just as he raised his arm, sparks exploded from his armoured gauntlet.

Chen Ming’s arm uncontrollably tilted to the side, clearly showing a flattened bullet embedded in the armor plate.

This bullet was similar to that fired from an Electromagnetic Spear sniper rifle.

The guards beside him immediately gathered to protect Chen Ming.

But the second shot, before anyone could react, hit Chen Ming’s temple.

Chen Ming’s head tilted like his arm.

However, he wasn’t harmed by this shot.

Partly due to the top-tier protection effect of pure White Cloud Steel armor plates, and partly because the multi-layer buffer structure installed during the armor’s transformation absorbed most of the bullet’s impact.

While Chen Ming struggled to maintain balance due to the bullet’s impact, his mind wasn’t on the bullet, but on his previous sensation.

The subtle feeling like someone placing a knife on his neck wasn’t sensed by his danger perception as a threat but sensed as an imminent attack.

Chen Ming knew clearly that his danger perception had previously been unable to detect attacks that posed no threat to him, but now it could.

Perhaps because he had always been perceiving danger, his danger perception capabilities evolved.

Just as he previously could only control a Frigate, but broke through limits when controlling a Refraction-class ship.

His spiritual energy seemingly has many effects not visible on the interface.

A flurry of thoughts instantly swirled in Chen Ming’s mind, yet he didn’t forget his current situation.

He immediately controlled his posture and hid behind the director, turning to look in the direction the bullet came from as if nothing had happened.

Chen Ming’s eyesight was decent; he could see a person pinned to the ground by a group of Patrol Team members in the corner of the dock.

Chen Ming had never seen him before, but the man looked at Chen Ming with eyes full of resentment.

Chen Ming ignored him and, under others’ protection, walked into the Cow Herder’s cabin.

As for that military personnel just now, he might have had a chance to escape from the Space Station, but now he’s lost all possibility of escaping.

Chen Ming is unlikely to see him again in this lifetime.

Though Chen Ming doesn’t care much about a dead man, or someone bound to die.

But the director did care, his helmet visor showing a face black as ink, and he quickly contacted his Guard Team previously sent to track the military squad.

”You let that one escape; now he’s run to the Patrol Team’s dock. You must explain to me how you let him pass?”

The squad leader’s voice came from the communication channel: ”We’re very sorry, Director, we received incorrect information earlier, and haven’t seen him for quite some time.”

The director frowned and said, ”Return to the administration; you’ll face punishment afterward.”

The squad leader was surprised that the director didn’t scold them as usual and immediately responded as if relieved, ”Yes!”

Then cut off the communication.

The squad leader didn’t understand the director’s change, but the director was very clear about what was happening.

From the time orders were given to bring Chen Ming from the Space Station, the Patrol Team dock had been fully sealed for twelve hours, with only the Patrol Team’s chief and deputy chief remaining access.

There are only two possibilities for someone to be let in: either the military personnel was hiding here twelve hours ago unnoticed, or there’s a traitor within the Patrol Team.

The director knew very well which was more likely.

Moreover, the Guard Team and Patrol Team cooperated earlier, sharing information.

This indicates the source of incorrect information was the Patrol Team.

Since the Patrol Team’s chief was standing by the dock, it explained what happened to the deputy chief responsible for tracking military personnel inside the Space Station.

”Where is the deputy chief?”

”Can’t be contacted.”

”Then he’s a traitor.”

The director immediately declared the result for the deputy chief, while contacting the administration.

”Cancel the deputy chief of the Patrol Team’s permissions on the Space Station; put up a wanted notice for him, and I’ll deal with him after handling more important matters.”

As the director was handling matters regarding the traitor.

Chen Ming had already entered the Cow Herder-class interior.

The factory manager and Old Wu didn’t follow him inside.

But their escorting Chen Ming this far made him feel grateful enough; the path from here on was his alone to tread.
