Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 163: Chapter 85: Strong Relationships, Harvest Summary_2

Three people in exhibition hall staff uniforms were lying on the ground nearby.

One was unconscious, while the other two were already dead.

The cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

Next to the unconscious person was a bloody hammer on the ground.

It seemed the situation was quite apparent.

One of the exhibition hall employees was Luder Zuo Jing, who, during Shen Yi’s actions, suddenly attacked and killed two ordinary employees using stealth and weapons.

After murdering them, he didn’t leave but was sabotaging equipment when he fell unconscious due to a Mind Pulse.

The blood on the unconscious person’s hands and face could support this guess.

Then, Chen Ming had nothing more to say and sent the unconscious Zuo Jing to meet his maker with one shot.

Subsequently, he used tools from his portable toolkit to dismantle the scrapped equipment.

After confirming all storage devices were destroyed and beyond any possibility of technical repair,

Chen Ming tried to restore the scene and put away his tools.

Glancing at the fresh corpse on the ground, he suddenly realized something. The Zuo Jing who just self-destructed wasn’t rendered unconscious by the Mind Pulse, but the one responsible for cutting off surveillance was.

This indicated that Zuo Jing surely had a way to block the Mind Pulse like Old Wu did, but he didn’t provide it to this Zuo Jing.

This method then must be...

Chen Ming raised his head suddenly and said to Old Wu, whose hands were not very clean and was near the cabinet by the monitoring room, ”Old Wu, do you know why those few Zuo Jings weren’t knocked unconscious just now?”

”Hey, you really asked the right person.”

Old Wu said, quickly taking a picture of a document with his terminal and then stuffing it back.

Turning around, he said to Chen Ming, ”I heard, I heard, there’s something called a Mind Silence Device.”

”It can be implanted in the human brain, making one immune to any direct mental attacks or Spiritual Energy, including the Mind Pulse, but the implanted person will also lose the ability to control Spiritual Energy forever.”

”Those few Zuo Jings might have had this thing implanted in their brains, but their bodies were blown up, making it impossible to verify, so it’s just a guess. Can’t say for sure.”

Chen Ming nodded slightly and said, ”What about you? Did you rely on this device? If it’s inconvenient to say, you don’t have to.”

Old Wu did not hide anything from Chen Ming, saying, ”Old Wu helped me with this. I don’t know exactly what he did, but such Mind Pulses have almost no effect on me, and also on Old Lu.”

Chen Ming suddenly recalled what the boss had said before, that he had helped Chen Ming cover his Spiritual Energy Fluctuation. This should be achieved with a similar Spiritual Ability.

”I understand.”

Currently, known effects of the boss’s Spiritual Energy include understanding people’s personalities, protection against Mind Pulses, and at most, covering one Spiritual Energy Fluctuation.

Although these three seem unrelated, Chen Ming decided to remember them for now. Perhaps in the future, he could analyze and figure out just what the boss’s specific Spiritual Ability is.

Just as Chen Ming was about to return to the exhibition hall to wait for the police force outside to come in, Old Wu suddenly picked up his terminal, saying, ”Old Wu sent me a message.”

He tapped a couple of times on the terminal, playing out the voice message sent by the boss.

”Old Wu, I’ve talked you through it. You guys just head out. Someone will find you later; just follow his arrangements and act promptly.”

The boss suddenly paused, then continued, ”I have to say, Xiao Mu indeed has qualities that others don’t have. Truly interesting.”

Chen Ming looked at Old Wu with some confusion and asked, ”What qualities?”

Old Wu showed the same expression he had when he told Chen Ming the boss had a dark sense of humor: ”Heh, you guess.”

”Tch.”

Chen Ming glared at Old Wu, but Old Wu acted as if he hadn’t seen it, whistling as he walked outside.

Chen Ming had no choice but to follow him to the main entrance of the exhibition hall.

Before leaving, Old Wu hid in the shadows beside the exhibition hall’s main door and waved to the outside.

After confirming that the ordinary guards surrounding the exhibition hall outside saw him, he raised his hands high and walked out.

Chen Ming did the same and walked out of the exhibition hall behind him.

As Chen Ming and Old Wu approached the line of guards,

several guards immediately jumped over the barricade and rushed forward, intending to restrain them.

But then, someone suddenly said to the guards rushing forward, ”Stop, don’t move them.”

A man, estimated to be in his early fifties, wearing a security uniform and extremely robust, also jumped over the barricade and came in front of Chen Ming and Old Wu.

Chen Ming noticed that the surrounding guards looked at him with respect, and his epaulets were different from those of the other guards, suggesting he was their superior.

The superior of the guards showed a friendly expression and said, ”Are you two friends of Mr. Wu?”

”Yes.”

He gestured invitingly, saying, ”Please come with me.”

Chen Ming and Old Wu followed him into a police car and directly left the exhibition hall area, heading straight to the police headquarters next to the government building.

He arranged a resting room for the two of them and left in a hurry.

It seemed he had many things to deal with after the simultaneous terror attacks on the Space Elevator and the exhibition hall today.

Chen Ming didn’t wait long in the resting room before someone brought over two already-completed statements.
