Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 154: Chapter 83: Assault

After leaving the black market.

Chen Ming originally planned to find a hotel to stay in.

But as soon as Old Wu heard Chen Ming say this, he greeted him and ran off.

He seemed not to plan to find a proper place to stay tonight.

Chen Ming couldn’t stop him, nor did he have a reason to, so he didn’t bother looking for a hotel anymore.

He spent some time following the space elevator back to the space station of the colony to stay on his ship.

Along the way, he also received the two energy-charging high-air cannons already delivered to the temporary goods storage center on the space station side and sent them to the modified warrior ship, intending to install them after leaving the space station.

After taking care of this matter, Chen Ming didn’t wander around the space station aimlessly; he went straight back to the Iron Ore No.

He took out his terminal and started reviewing the information for the auction happening tomorrow.

Although there wasn’t too much detailed information, just looking at the brief introduction, he could roughly see the situation of the auction items.

Most items for sale at tomorrow’s auction were some experimental or test nature items that were not publicly sold before, either weapons or ship equipment.

They came from different manufacturers, and such auction items should be sold in conjunction with that new-style armor-piercing grade.

On the list, Chen Ming indeed found some things that made him drool.

As for the price, he could only say that participation mattered more.

If Chen Ming was willing to bleed a little, he should be able to bid on one or two auction items.

But he didn’t want to end up penniless, so he’d wait to see in person before deciding.

Chen Ming quickly noted down the auction list and turned off the auction website.

He didn’t rush to rest but went to check the engine room.

He came to the place beside the spiritual stone that had now turned into the delusion.

Although Chen Ming hadn’t dwelt too much on the somewhat familiar figure he saw during the day.

But now that it was nighttime and he was free, Chen Ming recalled and realized that the familiar figure he thought of seemed to resemble the person who was shot dead when he touched the delusion stone.

He felt it was necessary to get to the bottom of such things.

So Chen Ming directly opened his contact list and sent a communication request to his boss.

All colonies and space stations within the Empire had faster-than-light communication technology coverage, so contacting his boss wasn’t impossible.

The communication was soon connected, and Chen Ming said straightforwardly, ”Sorry to bother you, boss. There’s something I’d like to ask you.”

The boss’s tone was quite casual, ”I’m free every day; you’re not bothering me. What’s up?”

”My spiritual stone has changed.”

The boss’s voice gradually gained interest, asking, ”Change? What kind of change?”

”The patterns on my whispering stone have become more distorted, and the influence of the whispers has become stronger. When I touch it, I also see a hallucination of someone being shot dead.”

The boss’s tone suddenly carried a hint of curiosity, asking, ”What does that person look like?”

”A middle-aged man, with a mustache, quite fair-skinned and thin.”

”Oh, I thought it might be me or you.”

Chen Ming asked somewhat puzzled, ”What do you mean?”

”Just what I said.”

”Simply put, the situation you’ve encountered is a resonance that occurred between the spiritual stone and that dead pirate.”

”Resonance?”

”Yes, although you haven’t encountered many spiritual stones, you should be able to guess that spiritual stones, to some extent, correspond to human consciousness.”

”Human consciousness includes many things, like character, emotions, thoughts, desires, and so on.”

”Like my ’gentleness,’ corresponds to a gentle character, your ’whisper,’ corresponds to traits that can induce madness or irritability.”

”Though they appear different, both are actually very extreme, extremely gentle, extremely whispering, or rather irritable.”

”Do you understand what I’m saying?”

Chen Ming digested what the boss said and replied, ”Yes, spiritual stones correspond to extreme human consciousness; extreme gentleness is definitely not a good thing either.”

”Hmm, you can interpret it that way.”

”In summary, the spiritual stone itself represents extremity, and when extremely like entities appear beside a spiritual stone, similar effect spiritual stones will be impacted.”

”I believe that the pirate’s emotions of resentment or madness at the moment of death resonated with your whisper spiritual stone, causing changes in your whispering stone.”

”By the way, such situations only occur in the presence of spiritual energy; no matter how strong ordinary people’s emotions are, it won’t work.”

”Perhaps that pirate had some spiritual talent, or maybe he had been in contact with spiritual energy items, anyway, the extreme emotions upon his death impacted your stone, that’s roughly it.”

The boss paused for a moment, then continued, ”Actually, what I can’t quite understand is why the person you saw wasn’t you or me, but rather that middle-aged man you mentioned.”

”But that should be considered a good thing, which means you can try to act according to the hallucination you saw.”

Chen Ming asked in surprise, ”Act according to the hallucination? Why?”

”Hmm... how should I put it, the effect of your whisper spiritual stone is also changing, right?”

”Yes, the effect is strengthening.”

”If you can find that person and kill him, the hallucination will disappear, and the spiritual energy comprising the hallucination will become part of the spiritual stone itself.”

”This extreme consciousness resonance will be completely unified and fully integrated into the spiritual stone, further amplifying the intensity of the spiritual stone’s effect.”
