Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 177: Chapter 88: Pursuit, Escape, Promise_4

”Is it the chairman?”

”Yes, the chairman can’t represent the entire board or the entire company, but at least he can guide the overall direction of the company.”

”With his help, as long as you can initiate a vote in the board with the advantage, the company will surely protect you.”

Chen Ming nodded and walked into the workspace.

”By the way, there’s your stuff.”

The factory manager picked up a box, with an identity data card placed on top.

”Someone just delivered this, security scanned it when it came in, no issues, it should be yours, right?”

”Yes.”

He put away the card with over fourteen million stored, held the box, and walked into the workspace.

The workspace was empty at that moment, with only a few maintenance equipment, a large workbench, and some tables and chairs used for work and rest.

On the large workbench directly opposite the entrance, there was an illuminated terminal.

Chen Ming walked in first, followed closely by the factory manager and Old Wu, and the two Patrol Team members who had escorted Chen Ming also entered, casually closing the door.

Five people were inside the studio, including four guards outside.

In a relatively small underground place, this was adequate.

Chen Ming sat beside the workbench, placing the box aside, and tapped the terminal in front of him.

The terminal automatically initiated a video call.

Soon, an elderly face appeared on the screen.

”Hello, Chen Ming, I’m Xu Lin, chairman of Sinda Corporation.”

”Hello.”

Xu Lin stared at Chen Ming for a while and said, ”I’ve looked into you, I know what you want.”

”As long as you are willing, you are still an employee of Sinda Corporation.”

”So, let’s cut to the chase and talk about cooperation.”

Chen Ming straightforwardly said, ”No problem, otherwise I wouldn’t have specifically contacted Factory Manager Lu. So, what’s the cooperation about?”

”We need you as evidence that thirty-two years ago, the Mining Space Station DG-C-9527 was not destroyed by bugs.”

”Merely oral testimony and physical evidence are not enough, or rather, these two are actually not very important.”

”What is truly important is you, a person who worked at the Space Station thirty years ago.”

”With you, we have a way to solve the problem.”

”Why do you say that?”

”All information about the Mining Space Station and you can be found at the government.”

”Your existence proves the military’s claims are nonsense, and the events of thirty-two years ago will be completely exposed.”

Chen Ming had been expecting this for a long time and asked, ”So, what do you plan to do?”

”Thirty-two years ago, the military’s reason for sealing off the Star System was an infestation on the Space Station carrying a deadly virus with strong transmission capabilities.”

”Since you survived the Space Station, it indicates the Star System is already safe enough. We can request the government to ask the military to lift the embargo and return the development rights of the Star System to our company.”

”And this requires you to go to the Star Realm Capital, verify your identity there, and as evidence to submit our application to the government.”

”...”

”I just came back from the Star Realm Capital.”

”...”

Xu Lin chose to ignore Chen Ming’s statement and said, ”We will arrange a dedicated ship to take you to the Star Realm Capital.”

”Once this matter is completed, we will use the Star Gate there to send you directly to the Star System where the company headquarters is located.”

”I heard from Xiao Lu that you want a special armed ship license and want to continue climbing the promotion path?”

”Are you aiming for the management route or the research route? Regardless of which, I can arrange it for you, assign you dedicated mentors, and arrange specific training.”

”Whatever you need within the company, I can help you solve it.”

”So, what do you think?”

Chen Ming first silently complained internally, whether it was the factory manager, Old Wu, or even the boss and now the chairman, Xu Lin, everyone liked calling people with the ”little” prefix. It seemed hereditary.

Then he carefully considered and said, ”Okay.”

Chen Ming actually didn’t have many thoughts now, but he would definitely try to walk a stable and satisfying path that actualizes his value.

He’s still young, and even if he makes a wrong choice, he still has a chance to repent.

”Great, the ship to pick you up will arrive in about twelve hours.”

”Once you reach the Star Realm Government there, the military and the government here in your Star Zone will no longer have the authority to control you.”

The communication was disconnected.

Chen Ming looked up and asked the factory manager beside him, ”Factory manager, did you tell him I was that person?”

”Yes, originally the old chair... cough, the old chairman wasn’t sure if he should help you, but knowing your situation made him contact you directly.”

”The terms given to you are the best, but how high you can climb will be your own business then.”

”Okay.”

Chen Ming lowered his head again, took out his own terminal, and tapped on it several times.

”Oh? There’s more.”

Old Wu, who had been beside him idly, came over curiously and asked, ”What’s there?”

”My wages for thirty-two years.”

Chen Ming placed the terminal on the workbench in front of him for Old Wu to see.

The terminal displayed the interface of Chen Ming’s own savings card.

In the card, thirty years of wages, not a bit less, was stored within.

”My salary during the working period was thirty thousand a month, five thousand a month during the dormancy period, sixty thousand a year, almost two million for thirty-two years”

”Including what was already in my card, it’s roughly three hundred twenty thousand.”

Although the money might not be much for Chen Ming now.

But Chen Ming felt pleased seeing that the money still existed in the card.

Because that represented the company’s attitude.

Chen Ming felt relieved after closing the terminal and leaning against the chair back.

Joining the company and climbing the internal promotion routes truly counted as one of the paths he wanted to walk.

If the company can maintain this attitude, perhaps he won’t regret his current decision in the future.

Chen Ming didn’t think much about what might happen in the future.

Because he knew that the military’s pursuit might not end here, he still had to make additional preparations.

Chen Ming closed his eyes, but the scenes from the spaceship near the Dark Graveyard appeared before him.

After assigning a task to Gamma AI, Chen Ming returned to the Space Station.

Since the ship from Sinda Corporation would take twelve hours to arrive, he didn’t actually have much to do for now.

So Chen Ming simply moved the box to the workbench and started checking the materials he had bought from the boss at the recycling shop.

Old Wu, who was ready to watch videos on his terminal, seemed completely taken aback and said, ”You’re thinking about working at a time like this?”

”Yes.”

Chen Ming nodded and said, ”I think it might come in handy.”

Just as Chen Ming’s words fell, there was a clamor outside the workspace door.

The danger senses that had settled suddenly rang like alarm bells in Chen Ming’s mind.

The workspace door was suddenly opened.

A grenade rolled in through the gap in the door.
