Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 156: Chapter 83: Attack_3

Since Chen Ming said he would reimburse him earlier, he wasn’t shy about it.

Before starting the main course, it’s proper to have a set meal.

Old Wu settled things at the reception, found a recliner, and lay down.

Just as he was about to close his eyes and relax, he noticed a familiar face from the corner of his eye.

A middle-aged man with a mustache, flanked by three people, walked to the other side of the foot massage parlor.

Old Wu whistled and said, ”Yo, quite the entourage today? Wasn’t it just one before?”

The middle-aged man turned to the source of the sound, somewhat surprised, and said, ”Old Wu? What brings you to a place like this?”

”Just here to take care of some matters.”

The middle-aged man frowned slightly and asked, ”What matters?”

”Just some minor stuff, already finished. I’ll be leaving tomorrow.”

The middle-aged man felt slightly relieved and, not wanting to chat further with Old Wu, said as he walked away, ”Well then, safe travels.”

”Thanks for the well wishes.”

Old Wu actually wanted to ask this middle-aged man about the pirates Chen Ming had dealt with earlier.

But Old Wu felt that since this time they came to collect the bounty for these pirates, it was not appropriate to directly ask someone closely connected with them.

Moreover, Old Wu remembered that this mustached middle-aged man was not merely in an intelligence-trading relationship with those pirates; the Luder Ship used by the pirates was obtained from him.

If he accidentally brought up the topic and angered someone connected with the Zuo Jing of the Luder, it would be a situation Old Wu did not want to see.

Time quickly passed, and it was the next day.

Early in the morning, Chen Ming met with Old Wu outside the location where the auction was about to be held, the Colonial History Museum.

Upon arrival, Chen Ming noticed there were a lot of security forces, more than seemed necessary, even more than at the government building.

It appeared that they were here to protect the auction.

So after meeting up, Chen Ming didn’t rush to discuss intel-related matters; he decided to wait until the auction was over.

The identity and admission checks for the auction were not necessary on-site and were quite simple.

All that was needed was to confirm online that there was money in the account.

Then, on-site, they verified whether the identity registered on the website matched the terminal; if it did, they were through, nothing else was required.

Although it was very convenient and protected the identity of the auction participants well, the safety of the auction seemed to have some issues.

But seeing this, it made sense that there were more security forces responsible for auction security.

Chen Ming understood the auction organizers’ logic.

With a little more than 20 million in his account, Chen Ming narrowly made it into the auction.

In the Star Realm Capital, there are quite a few people who can gather a substantial movable asset of millions. When Chen Ming and Old Wu entered, there were a few hundred people in the exhibition hall’s large conference room.

However, exactly how many people showed up in person was unclear to Chen Ming.

Chen Ming quickly found the seat assigned by the auction website.

The official item list was placed at each person’s seat.

It listed all of today’s items and detailed descriptions of them.

Included, of course, was the detailed description of the Armor-Piercing Level ship, the main item for auction.

Additionally, in the conference room, Chen Ming could follow the adjacent recently modified one-way glass wall to see the Armor-Piercing Level ship pre-placed and waiting next door in an already cleared exhibition space.

The Armor-Piercing had a spearhead-like shape, exuding an aura of sharpness that deeply attracted Chen Ming’s gaze.

What next caught Chen Ming’s attention was the Armor-Piercing Level ship’s most significant feature.

Its ”spear-tip” part was occupied by a large load-bearing point.

A large load-bearing point that could mount sizable weapons.

Generally speaking, only Cruisers could support the energy increase and consumption associated with large weapons.

If one wanted a Destroyer to carry large weapons, these two issues must be addressed urgently, requiring a lot of new technology to achieve.

It appeared that the Armor-Piercing Level ship released by Sinda Corporation had completely resolved these two issues.

No wonder so many people were interested in this ship.

Chen Ming also found that this Armor-Piercing Level ship used the highly valued White Cloud Steel Composite Armor.

Although many high-level ships often require this material, which largely originates from the Mechanical Race.

Chen Ming remembered that when Sinda Corporation designed ships, they tried to control the proportion of high-grade metal materials to facilitate mass production.

Now, since such materials are used extensively in ship armor, it’s clear the company places great importance on this Armor-Piercing Level.

With this Armor-Piercing Level ship nearby, Chen Ming wasn’t very interested in the other auction items.

Even when the auction started, Chen Ming’s attention remained on this Armor-Piercing Level ship, pondering ways to potentially gain access to it.

However, the barriers around the Armor-Piercing Level and the significant number of security personnel nearby forced Chen Ming to abandon this thought.

At least he could still look at it.

While Chen Ming was fixated on the Armor-Piercing Level ship, the auction items were being bid on one by one.

After two hours, the auction finally reached the last item, the Armor-Piercing Level Destroyer.

However, before the final item was officially auctioned.

The auction opened the sealed-off area housing the Armor-Piercing Level within, allowing attendees to get a close look at the real item.
