Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 184: Chapter 90: The Way of Counterattack, the Whereabouts of Armor Piercing_3

Although smuggling is something that various major forces tacitly acknowledge in private, once it becomes public, someone must take responsibility for it.

The director took the terminal from Chen Ming’s hand and carefully examined the contents of the smuggling list.

Taking advantage of the time when the director was reviewing the documents, Chen Ming asked the director’s secretary for some food.

When Chen Ming returned from the Star Realm Capital, it was noon, and he only hastily had some compressed food to stave off hunger along the way.

Now it was close to evening, but there were still a full eleven hours to wait.

By three or four a.m. the next day, without some energy replenishment, problems were likely to arise.

After the secretary brought over the food, the factory director had almost finished reviewing the entire smuggling list and directly checked all the relevant information in the office.

Concluding that everything on the list was correct.

The director returned the terminal to Chen Ming and said, ”The smuggling list, with not only precise locations but also detailed time schedules and cargo lists? How did you get it?”

Of course, Chen Ming couldn’t say he got it through the Dusk’s ship, so he casually said, ”I picked it up.”

The expression under the director’s helmet was slightly complex.

His usual attitude towards his work made him unable to accept Chen Ming’s ambiguous answer.

However, he was not directly Chen Ming’s superior, and his future relationship with Chen Ming was uncertain.

Therefore, he did not express any opinion or show any discontent towards Chen Ming.

Based on the content of the smuggling list that Chen Ming showed him, he merely said, ”This list is very important.”

”It can give the company a better advantage in handling matters related to the military.”

”Sending this document back could lead to a major restructuring within the entire military outpost.”

”At this point in time, coupled with the previous incident, it could at least temporarily suspend the operations of the military outpost, which would greatly help ensure your safety.”

The director also understood that Chen Ming revealing this list at this time was not for bargaining.

So he told the guard team waiting outside the office, ”Zhang Ji, you’re taking over my task next.”

The guard standing at the front of the team saluted towards the office.

Then swiftly left the office with the other guards.

The director brought Chen Ming to his desk and had Chen Ming connect the terminal to his computer.

”I’ll help you send this list to the company’s board of directors. The impact of this list should show itself soon.”

”Okay.”

Just as Chen Ming gave a clear response to the director.

Chen Ming suddenly noticed that there was movement on the Armor-Piercing Level side, which he had been keeping an eye on.

When Chen Ming was flying back to the Pirate Space Station, the Armor-Piercing Level had already been equipped by Sinda Corporation’s engineers with the large weapon supplied by the government, an Automatic Pulse Laser.

As well as other weapons on four medium hardpoints, two heavy impact cannons, and two ion beams that Chen Ming was very familiar with.

And after the Armor-Piercing Level’s weapons were installed and tested.

It was now being loaded onto a Cruiser-class ship named Giant, a heavy freighter that Chen Ming had also seen with Dusk.

Interestingly, the Armor-Piercing Level’s placement in the cargo hold was right at the edge of it.

At this moment, Chen Ming was indeed in a situation where he lacked combat power.

Although the military was unlikely to directly bring a fleet to the doorstep, there’s always a chance. Therefore, having a spaceship with considerable combat capabilities was very necessary for Chen Ming.

Thus, now was actually the best time for Chen Ming to steal the ship away.

However, based on what Chen Ming previously overheard about the government’s intention to test the Armor-Piercing Level, the cargo ship and the transport fleet’s purpose could be roughly deduced.

Their destination should be a colony closest to both the military outpost and the Pirate Space Station.

This is a mining colony, and the government’s transport fleet’s primary purpose is likely regular supply runs and transporting resources from the colony, with sending the Armor-Piercing Level there merely as a side task.

But regardless, the cargo ship moving towards Chen Ming’s direction with the Armor-Piercing Level on board was undeniable.

Chen Ming actually could wait for the cargo ship to come over.

But the problem was that the Armor-Piercing Level needed to follow the convoy to reach.

And the convoy’s travel speed would surely be based on the slowest ship within it.

With the Giant cargo ship, a Cruiser, the convoy could not achieve maximum speed in Superspace.

Moreover, the cargo ship might need to dock at colonies during its journey, so its delivery speed might be slower than when Chen Ming previously piloted a ship back himself. Exactly how much slower was uncertain, but it certainly wouldn’t be quick.

And if the convoy actually managed to deliver the Armor-Piercing Level to the colony, it might be quite difficult for Chen Ming to seize the opportunity to act on the spaceship.

However.

Right when Chen Ming discovered movement with the Armor-Piercing Level, the cargo ship it was on had just departed from the Star Realm Capital colony.

And now it had reached the edge of the Star System, about to enter the Superspace Channel.

This was simply a godsend, the best opportunity.

And the spaceship’s armaments had all been fully installed, with the fuel likewise fully replenished.

The large weapon at the front of the Armor-Piercing Level was something Chen Ming dared not use directly inside the ship, but the remaining four medium weapons were enough to create an entry point from inside the Giant freighter.
