Urban All-Round Master

Chapter 347: Chapter 349: Give Me That Sausage

Chapter 349 Give Me That Sausage

But now that I think about it, I remember when I first arrived, Nangong Bing hardly paid any attention to me. Especially living under the same roof, this icy and proud Queen-level beauty almost never gave me a proper look. But now that our relationship has improved, so have the number of issues.

It seems that the unlikely pairing of these two, especially given the difference in their status, is like they’re from completely different worlds.

”Going to the vegetable market?”

Lin Zifeng asked, turning his head back.

”To the supermarket!” Nangong Bing looked at him in surprise.

”Supermarket? Can you even buy vegetables there?”

”Nonsense, what doesn’t the supermarket have nowadays? Don’t tell me you didn’t even know that?” Nangong Bing felt that interacting with someone who is hundreds of levels below her in both taste and knowledge was an insult to her intelligence.

”No way! Supermarkets sell vegetables now?”

He genuinely didn’t know this; had supermarkets really advanced to this extent?

”Drive.” Nangong Bing was too lazy to explain such childish questions any further.

Since Nangong Bing didn’t want to answer his question, he didn’t feel the need to keep asking. He would probably understand once they got there.

Truth be told, Lin Zifeng really didn’t know supermarkets had developed to this extent. He had always been living abroad, and his two years in prison had made him almost lose track of this world that changes day by day. He was full of curiosity, just like with his blue-screen phone he was using now. He remembered that five years ago, this phone model was all the rage! But now, with smart touchscreen phones everywhere, he really felt like an alien.

Sure enough, in a short while, they arrived at the supermarket. Following Nangong Bing, the number one businesswoman of Zhonghai City, to the supermarket was anything but simple.

Seeing Lin Zifeng gaping in amazement at every new thing he encountered, Nangong Bing began to wonder if it might have been better not to bring him out at all.

”Hey, Mr. Lin, hand me that sausage,” Nangong Bing said nonchalantly, pointing at the sausage rack near Lin Zifeng, as they carefully picked out a lavish dinner menu in the wide and luxurious supermarket.

At this, Lin Zifeng felt his face couldn’t hold up any longer. He felt hundreds of eyes around him staring at him all at once.

”What are you doing? Hurry up and give me that sausage.”

Just as Nangong Bing, who had finished picking out the menu and was ready to leave, noticed him standing awkwardly by the sausage rack, legs clamped together and not saying a word.

”This, this doesn’t seem right, does it?” Lin Zifeng said with an embarrassed look, not daring to move an inch.

”What? Are you ill or something?” Nangong Bing asked in surprise, not understanding what game he was trying to play this time.

”No, I mean, Bingbing, we’re in a supermarket! If you want it, can’t we just take it out when we get home? I-I’m not quite used to being this open.”

At this moment, not only was Nangong Bing frustrated, but Lin Zifeng was even more so.

He never expected Nangong Bing to be so open-minded! Such an unfortunate turn for the household.

In full public view, she actually asked him to grab a sausage for her? What kind of international joke was this?

Even if Lin Zifeng was shameless and thick-faced, he was still a man full of righteousness. How could he possibly succumb under her sultry pressure?

Moreover, they were inside a supermarket, where such things were absolutely impossible.

His mind was still reeling from the thoughts of what Nangong Bing had said, which made him very angry! Extremely angry!

”Are you going to take it or not?” At that moment, Nangong Bing picked up a kitchen knife she had just bought and, without putting it back into the shopping cart in Lin Zifeng’s hand, casually waved it around, frightening Lin Zifeng into jumping back!

My God!

Was she for real?

”Don’t, don’t play like this, okay? You, you’re even using a knife?” This truly scared Lin Zifeng not a little bit.

Nangong Bing really wanted to slaughter the brute with the knife. Was it such a big reaction just to ask him to take a sausage home to cook for dinner?

But what she didn’t understand was that her mention of sausage had taken on a whole different meaning in Lin Zifeng’s ears. Plus, she was wielding a kitchen knife—the posture alone was enough to make someone suspicious.

”So are you going to take it or not?” Nangong Bing was almost commanding him with a Queen-like attitude, but the more she did, the more unnatural Lin Zifeng’s expression became. What was all this about? It was too pushy.

”Isn’t this a bit too much?” Lin Zifeng backed away several steps, trying to maintain a distance from her.

Seeing that Lin Zifeng had no intention of taking the sausage for her, Nangong Bing couldn’t be bothered to continue the standoff and simply grabbed two sausages from the rack and threw them into the shopping cart without a second word.

”You were asking me to take this for you?” Lin Zifeng was dumbfounded.

”What’s wrong? Don’t tell me your thoughts are wandering off again?” Nangong Bing’s lovely eyes blinked, and only then did she remember something. She glared with her almond-shaped eyes and took off her sunglasses to scold in a harsh voice, ”Lin Zifeng! How could you be so disgusting? What do you even stuff into that brain of yours all day?”

Saying this, Nangong Bing turned and walked away, not giving him any chance to explain.

She left Lin Zifeng standing there, dumbstruck.

”What did I say? What did I do to offend you this time?” Lin Zifeng shook his head and chuckled bitterly.

Shopping with her was just like walking with a woman, who are naturally fussy and picky.

Even buying groceries, which was just a trivial matter of filling one’s stomach, Nangong Bing was meticulous for an hour and a half, making Lin Zifeng, who was craving a cigarette, wait an eternity.

”You. Come here!”

While browsing, Nangong Bing had made her way to a mobile phone counter. After carefully selecting for a few minutes, she finally settled on the latest smartphone with satisfaction.

”Boss, are you thinking about changing your phone?” Even though he didn’t pay much attention to the use of mobile phones, he still knew that women tended to love their phones.

”It’s not for me, it’s for you.”

”For me?” Lin Zifeng asked in surprise.

”Your phone with the blue screen should have been replaced long ago. Don’t you feel embarrassed pulling it out?” Nangong Bing laughed and scolded. Even when offering a phone as a gift, she couldn’t help but sneak in a couple of teasing remarks.

”I really don’t need it.”

”Listen to me, miss, please wrap it up.” Nangong Bing didn’t allow Lin Zifeng to refuse and had the saleslady pack up the phone.

”Miss, miss, how much is this phone?” Lin Zifeng hurriedly asked before the phone was wrapped up.

”This is this year’s latest Samsung phone, priced at six thousand eight hundred.”

”Six thousand eight!” Lin Zifeng nearly exclaimed in shock. What the hell kind of phone costs six thousand eight hundred? It wasn’t like using the phone to make calls; it was like holding sixty-some Chairman Mao notes to one’s ear.

”Forget it, I don’t want it.” Lin Zifeng swiftly pulled Nangong Bing’s arm and headed towards the supermarket exit. What a joke, such a big-screen phone that looked like a brick cost more than six thousand yuan. Even if I didn’t eat or drink for a month, didn’t change my underwear, I probably couldn’t afford it, right? What’s more, I only have a few thousand yuan that was just paid out today. When it’s time for me to pay the bill later, they would’ve already signed the slip, and it would surely embarrass me.

”What are you doing? Can’t you stop embarrassing yourself?” Nangong Bing frowned and was somewhat displeased. She turned to the saleslady and whispered gently, ”Wrap it up, I’ll take it. Should I pay by card or cash?”

”By card.”

She’s buying me a phone? Lin Zifeng’s eyes widened slightly in surprise. He hadn’t expected Nangong Bing to actually buy him a phone; it was the first time he’d heard of such a thing.

”Here’s your phone, sir. Your wife is really good to you.” The saleslady handed the phone over to him with a flattering comment. Nangong Bing, overhearing this, didn’t refute but her fair complexion flushed a bit.

Carrying the Samsung phone that felt like a brick, Lin Zifeng fiddled with it for a long time, completely unable to find the power switch.

He rushed off to the counter and knocked on it, saying, ”Miss, this is pretty unreliable, isn’t it? The brand-new phone I just bought won’t even turn on?”

”Really, sir? Your wife just tried it here, how could it possibly not turn on?” The young saleslady had a sweet mouth as if coated with honey.

”Look.” Lin Zifeng pressed furiously on the red phone icon at the bottom of the huge screen several times, but the phone simply wouldn’t turn on.

At that moment, the saleslady took the phone from him and pointed to a small button on the side of the device, saying, ”Sir, the power switch is right here.”

Surely enough, under the skilled operation of the saleslady, the phone was switched on in no time at all.

Seeing this, Lin Zifeng’s face involuntarily twitched a few times, feeling like a complete noob. Probably, in her mind, she was silently scorning him.

”Well, actually I knew that. I just wanted to check the performance in front of you all, hehe, see, it’s fine now. Yeah, I’ll take the phone.” He self-assuredly nodded his head, with not a trace of embarrassment, face unblushing, heart unflinching, holding the phone as he strode out of the supermarket alongside Nangong Bing.

At that moment, Nangong Bing wished she could find a hole to crawl into.

She’d seen all sorts of exasperating behaviors, but truly never encountered such an absurd man in her life. She wondered from which planet he had bounced off.

”By the way, has Huahua called you recently?”

Once they were outside the supermarket, Nangong Bing’s slender, jade-like fingers slowly removed her sunglasses to ask.

”She hardly ever calls me if it’s not important.”

”It’s impossible. It’s been almost a week, and she hasn’t called me either. Moreover, when I call her, she doesn’t answer,” Nangong Bing paused, a hint of worry crossing her face.

She felt that Huahua had taken playing around too far this time. Considering the close relationship they had as cousins, it was strange not to even receive a phone call. Normally, if three days went by without contact, they would both be antsy. Now, it had been almost a week, and Huahua had not called her, which was concerning.

”Maybe she went out to have fun with Liu Tangtang,” Lin Zifeng speculated, not believing the two quirky girls could be so easily deceived.
