Chapter 344: Chapter 346 Su Ni’s Secret

Chapter 346: Su Ni’s Secret

Aside from collecting my paycheck and chatting and shooting the breeze with a few girls, the day passed by quickly.

Until the closing hours of the afternoon, I was mostly glued to the computer, playing games and QQ mini games.

It wasn’t until Black Hawk called to inform me that the task had been completed that I squinted my eyes and nodded in approval while puffing on a cigarette.

According to my plan, my goal was to lure out the Fusang people behind Qiao Hongtian, and sure enough, just as I had anticipated, as soon as Black Hawk spread the rumor of Qiao Hongtian’s death, his house was raided by dozens of Fusang martial artists that same night. However, the entire setup had been anticipated by the Huaxia police, who ambushed them, and all the Fusang martial artists were apprehended.

Unfortunately, when the police caught these people, they were shocked to discover that each of them didn’t have a tongue! What was more important was that most of them were deaf-mutes and basically knew nothing when questioned.

Even when Huaxia’s sign language experts for the blind were sent to communicate with them, the vast cultural differences in language and sign language made it extremely difficult, causing a headache for the Huaxia police force.

When the higher-ups learned of this, they all sighed at the extent to which Fusang would go to train a group of deaf-mutes as martial artist assassins, considering the enormous resources and effort involved. This seemed an impossible feat to accomplish.

The next day, when the police brought in Fusang experts to communicate with them, they found that the group of deaf-mute martial artists had all committed suicide overnight!

As I held the newspaper reporting the suicides of the Fusang martial artists, I couldn’t help but inwardly sigh at the unimaginable extent the people from Fusang would go, even training a special group like deaf-mutes to become martial artists, at such great expense. This sheer determination alone filled me, Lin Zifeng, with profound respect.

However, with these people dead, the police lost that lead and couldn’t trace back to the masterminds. Even the Fusang Country’s guild cooperated actively with Huaxia to capture and combat these individuals, but sadly, many of those dispatched didn’t return alive, they either went insane or were heavily maimed.

Sitting in the swivel chair in my office, I leaned back, shifting to another comfortable position, a medium-quality cigarette dangling from my lips. Squinting out of the office window, I sat motionless for more than ten minutes, letting the smoke rings swirl around my face. During those minutes, it didn’t seem like I moved at all. I gazed quietly out the window, lost in thought, particularly the gleam in my eyes, sharp and vigilant. I resembled a lion that could erupt with fury at any moment.

Like this, I, Lin Zifeng, sat alone in front of the window for a long while, thinking. The domestic situation was slowly changing, and I could clearly feel that my peaceful days would not last much longer.

So, I was also planning my strategy. Since avoiding destiny was not the ultimate solution, I might as well take control of my own destiny...

It seemed I was too absorbed in my thoughts to notice when my phone started ringing. It wasn’t until I had missed a dozen calls that I leisurely picked up the phone.

Glancing at the displayed number, Lin Zifeng curled his lips.

”Hello, Officer Su, we haven’t seen each other for just a few days, and you’re already this impatient to think of me?” I swept away the indifferent expression just now and my cold eyes gradually revealed a pleased smile.

”Piss off! Who’s thinking about you? Don’t flatter yourself, okay? What business do I have with you?” Su Ni’s voice on the other end of the line was really not pleasant, her fiercely tomboyish tone piercing so sharply that it made my ears on this end ache.

”Uh, Officer Su, you don’t have to yell that loudly. Even if you didn’t miss me, there’s no need to curse that harshly. You’re scolding me like I’m your grandson.” I was at a loss for words; why were women nowadays all like tomboys? Can’t even get two sentences in before being attacked. Is this chick, like, born in the year of the Tiger or something?

”Lin, watch your mouth! Who’s your ’Officer Su’? Remember, call me Su Ni, or Officer Su. We have nothing to do with each other, so don’t make it seem like we’re close, okay?” Su Ni on the other end of the line was perhaps not in her right mood today, not yet over her period, and she spoke as if she had gunpowder for breakfast, spraying me fully in the face.

Finally, not too interested in arguing with her, I got back to the point and asked, ”So, Officer Su, what is the reason for calling me today? There is no such thing as an unnecessary visit. I assume you wouldn’t be calling me just to have fun if you’re not free, would you?” I chuckled.

Ugh! You bastard, can’t I call you if there’s nothing going on? I’m a police officer, and you’re just a civilian. I have the right to call you and ask about your current situation. Does calling you have to mean I need something?

On the other end of the phone, Su Ni stomped her foot, cursing in frustration in her heart.

However, today she really did have something to discuss with this bastard, otherwise, the busy person that Su Ni was wouldn’t have thought of his existence.

”Oh, that’s right. Do you have time today? Can you come to the station?” Su Ni still hesitated for a while before making a decision.

However, while she was on the phone in the corridor of the station, the office policewomen were all craning their necks and staring intently over at her.

Seeing Su Ni cocking her head and laughing on the phone, and having just stomped her foot in the hallway, she genuinely frightened her colleagues in the station.

”Oh my God! Our station’s number one beauty, Miss Su, who is she talking to on the phone? And she’s even cooing! This, this is just too horrifying! Too horrifying! I’ve never seen her like this, could it be she’s in love?”

A middle-aged police investigator squinted his eyes and scanned Su Ni through the window while holding a cigarette, then couldn’t help boasting to a few middle-aged policewomen nearby.

”Hey, Old Wang, no kidding, has Su Ni been sick these past few days? It can’t be that the sun rose in the west, can it? With her temper that’s enough to make you pull your hair out, she’s actually cooing and playing cute with someone? Could it be that she’s had some unhappy incident recently and is venting to someone now?”

”Uh, I don’t think so, this lady’s probably in love. Otherwise, how come she’s been so absent-minded lately? She must have been charmed by some young junior brother.”

”Hey, hey, hey, Old Wang, you dare to say that? With her bullish temper, any handsome young man who takes a fancy to her would probably get killed! You know her temper is famously explosive, and after all these years, don’t you understand her personality?”

The middle-aged started to tease each other, after all Su Ni’s temper was well known in the station, like a raging bull. Remembering the last time she went out with Old Wang from the station to catch a thief, the guy tried to escape through the window and got caught by the wires. Su Ni asked him three times if he was coming down, but the guy held onto the cable and refused to come down, even contemplating death as a threat, saying if anyone tried to approach, he would jump off from the third floor. Su Ni finally got so angry that she shot several arrows right next to the guy’s butt, and although she didn’t hit his butt, it did scare the thief enough that he nearly wet himself.

Since then, Su Ni’s fiery temperament has never gotten any better. If it weren’t for her father backing her up in the station, she might have been sent off to the border.

Hearing the gossip starting in an adjacent office, Su Ni suddenly turned her head back and glared fiercely at the three veteran officers, scaring them to the point where they dared not breathe too heavily.

Everyone acted as if they hadn’t seen or heard anything, asking and answering their own questions, and at first glance, it would seem as if they were discussing work matters.

”Are you still coming? Look, Officer Su, I think I’ve run to your station more than three times already. If I go again, it’s practically becoming my home. I don’t even go home that many times.”

”Don’t get me wrong, I’m not inviting you personally, but you rescued that little boy last time, and now his relatives are here to thank you in person. They are waiting for you at the station right now, and if you don’t come, they won’t leave. With such a good opportunity, wouldn’t you show up and flex a little?” Su Ni teased.

”Give me a break! How can I flex any muscle? With you, the beautiful Su Ni here, all the limelight would be stolen by you anyway.”

”That’s also true; after all, I am a flower of our station,” Su Ni complimented herself internally.

However, she had misunderstood what Lin Zifeng had meant.

”Give me a straight answer, are you coming or not?” Su Ni’s patience was clearly limited.

Lin Zifeng didn’t reply for a long time. Who invites people like this? Wasn’t this a threat?

”Alright! But you have to wait for half an hour, as I haven’t finished work yet,” said Lin Zifeng.

”Fine, I’ll give you half an hour. They are still here waiting for you. Don’t be too late; they have been waiting for several hours now.”

After hanging up the phone and seeing that the clock was almost at the end of the workday, and considering that he had flexible work hours, he didn’t pay much attention to these matters. He simply grabbed his cigarette pack and left briskly, finding it quite an adjustment to live such a carefree, godlike life. Going to work was just for show. He didn’t know if Nangong Bing was treating him well or just tormenting him; being a security guard was far simpler.

About half an hour later, as notified by Su Ni over the phone on the road, Lin Zifeng did find them. However, as soon as the little boy saw him, he immediately gave him a bear hug and clung to his neck, refusing to let go!

This put Lin Zifeng in a bit of a bind. The boy was sobbing, sniffling, with tears streaming down and soaking his shoulder, incessantly calling out, ”Big brother, big brother.”
