Urban All-Round Master

Chapter 338: Chapter 340: Turbulence Arises

Chapter 340: A Storm Brewing

”Lin, you’ve been missing for days, neither alive nor dead in sight, where the hell have you been? Have you even stopped coming to work?” Nangong Bing stormed in with hardly a pleasant look on her face. If this had been before, she would have simply ignored his existence. Who cared if he came to work or not? But now things were different.

”I had things to do,” Lin Zifeng replied simply, even nonchalantly.

Huh! Is that casual excuse all it takes to get rid of me?

Nangong Bing’s anger grew. What kind of person was this, skipping work and acting as if he didn’t care at all? Did he think I owed him something? Was he the boss, and I the employee? Nangong Bing even found this guy somewhat amusing. At least make up a decent lie to fool me, but he had just bluntly rejected her.

”Hold on! Lin, where do you think you’re going now?”

Seeing Lin Zifeng’s hurried look, she was sure he wouldn’t be coming home tonight either.

”Got some business to take care of,” Lin Zifeng replied indifferently.

”Do you, do you know that Qiao Bu’en was murdered last night? And that not a single survivor was left at the scene, do you know about that?”

”He’s dead?” Lin Zifeng suddenly turned his head, a look of shock on his face as he stared at her.

”You didn’t know?” Nangong Bing frowned slightly. Such a big incident had shocked the entire Zhonghai City, and he was clueless? Could it be that all Lin did every day was womanize, laze around, freeload, and wait to die? Didn’t he even have time to read the news? Or had he completely given up on this world? Had the world abandoned him, or had he abandoned the world?

Nangong Bing’s beautiful eyes widened. Such a major event was almost common knowledge in the entire Zhonghai City and was constantly broadcasted on TV. Could it be he had heard nothing of it? That’s illogical!

”I’m not interested in that. He’s dead, so what? How’s that my business?” Lin Zifeng shrugged his shoulders, looking completely unbothered.

Indeed, even if Qiao Bu’en wasn’t killed by him, his death wasn’t Lin’s concern. Wasn’t death a normal occurrence? Besides, countless had died at Lin Zifeng’s hands. People like Qiao Bu’en, who were a scourge to society, didn’t deserve any pity for their deaths.

”Lin Zifeng! You... you must be from outer space, right?” Nangong Bing couldn’t help but stare wide-eyed, teasing him.

”You’re the one from outer space. Hey, boss, why do you care so much about this if you’re just idling around? Could it be that Qiao guy left a deep impression last time? Are you interested in him? Now that he’s dead, are you feeling really upset, really out of sorts? After all, being pursued by a man isn’t a bad thing for a woman, it’s even something to be grateful for. How could your heart not flutter even once, right?” Lin Zifeng said with a grin.

”What are you talking about? Has your brain been kicked by a donkey these past days you haven’t come back? Who’s heart fluttered? Yours, that’s who! Do you really think so little of me, Nangong Bing, that I’m worth so little in your eyes?” Upon hearing the phrase ”heart fluttering” from Lin Zifeng, Nangong Bing’s face instantly soured. She crossed her arms and her cheeks became so rosy they nearly dripped with color. This was precisely the kind of talk Nangong Bing didn’t want to hear, especially from him; the more she heard it, the worse it tasted.

”Fine! Forget I said anything. Anyway, I’ve got plans tonight and won’t be coming back. If you feel too lonely, boss, you can call me anytime!”

Lin Zifeng gestured as if making a phone call and began to head towards the door.

Lonely? When Nangong Bing heard this word, her first reaction was a surge of anger within her chest, but upon further reflection, she realized what he said was indeed true. Being a 23-year-old woman, if she were to say she didn’t feel lonely and empty at night, that would be a lie. After all, she was a woman, and a perfectly normal one at that—physiologically and psychologically. To say she had no fantasies while lying in bed at night would be utterly unreliable, for women naturally mature earlier than men and tend to be more emotional regarding their physiological needs, as per human nature.

During the day, they might pretend as if nothing was amiss, but at night, even a slight hint of intimate contact between a man and a woman on TV could make women of her age feel uncomfortable, as if something was missing from their bodies.

Especially in need of a man’s touch.

Even her, hailed as the number one Queen of the corporate world, was not an exception; it was just that her endurance and self-restraint were stronger than the average woman’s.

”Do, do you have any plans for the evening?”

”I’m going to the street salon for a quickie!” Having said that, Lin Zifeng’s figure gradually disappeared into the distance, leaving Nangong Bing completely stunned.

A quickie? Nangong Bing repeated these words in her mind, her delicate body trembling slightly, her rosy cheeks shocked speechless by Lin Zifeng’s crudely tactless statement.

About half a minute after Lin Zifeng left, Nangong Bing’s face slowly returned to normal.

Clenching her fists tightly, Nangong Bing comforted herself inwardly, insisting she had nothing to do with that Mr. Lin. Even if he really did go, go to such a place, that seemed to be his personal freedom, didn’t it? What did it have to do with her? It wasn’t as if it affected her life. But even as she thought this, she couldn’t suppress the indignation in her heart, cursing Lin Zifeng silently for being inhumane. What kind of alien creature left over from a cosmic explosion was this guy...

When Lin Zifeng appeared at that house in the suburbs again and saw that Black Hawk’s complexion was a bit better, he finally felt at ease.

”Keep this safe,” Lin Zifeng said, handing over a worn white cloth to him.

”Big Brother, what’s this?” Black Hawk was somewhat puzzled.

”A needle,” Lin Zifeng replied.

”A needle? What do you want me to do with a needle, Big Brother?” Black Hawk was a bit bewildered.

”If you ever feel your addiction coming on, prick your numb points several times. This can help control your cravings effectively. If it gets really bad, prick your wrist a few times. It might help a bit.”

For Black Hawk, who was struggling with drug addiction, Lin Zifeng truly had no other solution. After all, without mandatory control, it would be hard to deal with sudden cravings, and up till now, no medication in the entire world could suppress such cravings. The only method for a gradual solution was to prick the numb points.

Though pricking numb points didn’t bring effective control during an onset of cravings, it was the only method Lin Zifeng had at the moment, taught to him by an old man in Dark Prison.

When cravings hit, there were only two solutions: either forcibly control it or divert the addiction through self-harm with pain. The latter method seemed rather cruel, so they resorted to pricking the wrist, which also helped to minimize the negative consequences of the addiction.

Seeing that Lin Zifeng didn’t elaborate further, Black Hawk didn’t ask more questions. In his heart, whatever Death God said was to be obeyed without question, right or wrong. They would follow unconditionally, which is a testament to the unshakeable status Lin Zifeng once held in their eyes.
