Chapter 309: Chapter 312: Feigned Death Phenomenon

Chapter 312: The False Death Phenomenon

Watching the three corpses being lifted out of the abandoned car by the police investigators, Lin Zifeng unconsciously furrowed his brow.

”Hurry up and take care of these bodies, someone will come to pick them up at the morgue later. Don’t make it too ugly,” Hong Wen commanded, pinching his nose and occasionally glancing over at Lin Zifeng. Seeing Lin Zifeng frowning, Hong Wen couldn’t help but approach and ask, ”Why is it always you?”

”What, missed me after not seeing each other for a few days?” Lin Zifeng said with a smile.

”Crazy!” Hong Wen suddenly cursed with a change of expression, and when he saw Su Ni coming over, he stopped paying attention.

”Su Ni, you’re not scared, are you?” Hong Wen tried to keep his tone very low.

”I’m fine, I’m fine,” Su Ni waved her hand and then walked towards Lin Zifeng.

”Wait a minute!”

Lin Zifeng, who had been intently watching the bodies, suddenly shouted at the police investigators.

Everyone turned their heads in confusion.

”What do you want to do now?” Su Ni was somewhat fed up with this jerk and quickly reached out with her slender hand to grab Lin Zifeng’s arm.

”That little boy is not dead!”

Lin Zifeng shook off her arm and walked towards one of the three corpses, the little boy.

”The boy is not dead?” Everyone was startled by Lin Zifeng’s words. The boy had been crushed; how could he not be dead? Could he still be alive?

”What are you talking about?” Hong Wen had been waiting for a chance to deal with Lin Zifeng, and the nonsensical statement from Lin Zifeng was like catching at straws for him.

”The boy isn’t dead,” Lin Zifeng replied seriously.

”Crazy! The boy has been crushed, and he’s not dead?” In front of everyone, Hong Wen cursed Lin Zifeng directly without giving any face, feeling very pleased with himself.

”Lin Zifeng, come back here! Stop messing around,” Su Ni then came over and grabbed Lin Zifeng, hoping the troublemaker wouldn’t cause more problems.

”I’m not messing around, I’m just telling the truth.”

Looking at the little boy that had been extricated from the car, Lin Zifeng was one hundred percent certain that he wasn’t dead but was experiencing a false death phenomenon. When a person suffers from prolonged suffocation or compression, there is a three percent chance of a false death occurring. This medical phenomenon is known as transient asphyxiation, or temporarily losing all bodily functions, appearing no different from a dead person, to the point where not even scientific instruments can detect it.

”He’s just in a state of false death. If you carelessly take him away, he will truly die,” Lin Zifeng didn’t want to see a young and lively life be mistakenly treated as dead.

”Kid, are you sick? You won’t even let go of a dead body? Do you want to examine it yourself?” Hong Wen finally couldn’t help but lash out with a few words again. Finding such an opportunity to fulfill his own desire to lash out, he wouldn’t let it slip by.

”Am I crazy?” Lin Zifeng slowly turned around, his face breaking into a smile as he looked at him.

”What do you think? Not even willing to leave the body of a little boy alone, are you not deranged enough?”

Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, Hong Wen deliberately raised his voice very high, intending to humiliate Lin Zifeng in front of all these people.

”Lin, you get back here! Stop causing a scene,” Su Ni seemed to have always had a bad impression of Hong Wen. She hurriedly stepped forward to pull Lin Zifeng back, afraid he might really start something.

”Officer Su, this little boy clearly isn’t dead, do you all view life so cheaply? Ignoring death and not saving a life?”

Lin Zifeng’s voice was somewhat stiff.

”Ignoring death and not saving a life?” Hong Wen crossed his arms, looking like he was enjoying the spectacle, ”If he’s dead, then how can you save him? If you’re capable, then go ahead and bring him back to life!”

”What if I do bring him back to life?” Lin Zifeng didn’t have time to squabble with him now; for the little boy, time was life, and if they continued to drag this out, the boy experiencing the phenomenon of suspended animation would indeed become a real corpse.

”Heh, if you really can bring him back to life, I’ll do whatever you want. Even if you want me to call you ’Dad’ at that time, I’d be willing,” Hong Wen sneered coldly. Even Hong Wen’s fair-weather friends who had come along with him started to instigate, quietly cursing Lin Zifeng as a fool.

Lin Zifeng had no time to deal with them but instead desperately started to give artificial respiration to the little boy who was experiencing a suspended animation due to being crushed by the car for too long.

Seeing this scene, everyone present showed a somber expression. As time passed and seeing that Lin Zifeng was still tirelessly performing artificial respiration on the little boy, everyone put down what they were doing and rushed over.

Su Ni hadn’t been very optimistic about Lin Zifeng, but seeing him desperately performing artificial respiration on the little boy, her tender heart couldn’t help but be moved.

Perhaps she was truly moved by Lin Zifeng’s actions.

As Lin Zifeng continued to press down and perform artificial respiration, the little boy, who seemed to be in a state of suspended animation, still showed no signs of improvement; his complexion was even paler than before.

”You, you’re wasting your energy, he, he’s already dead.” Seeing Lin Zifeng continuously perform artificial respiration and press on the little boy, trying not to give up as long as there was a sliver of hope, suddenly made things taste a bit strange. Perhaps this guy wasn’t as bad as she had imagined, just a bit sleazy on the surface. Maybe she really hadn’t noticed his good side before.

”Kid, it’s no use, he’s dead already. If you keep this up, when the family finds the police station, we won’t be able to take the responsibility,” Hong Wen said, unable to hold back from discouraging Lin Zifeng further, considering he had long held a grudge against Lin Zifeng and just hadn’t found an opportunity for revenge. A gentleman avenges himself after ten years, a petty man instantly.

”He’s simply experiencing suspended animation and hasn’t completely lost his life. If we give timely assistance, there’s still a glimmer of hope,” Lin Zifeng knew they hadn’t understood, but he didn’t have the time to explain to them; saving the little boy was the most crucial thing at the moment.

”Suspended animation?”

Lin Zifeng’s words suddenly drew a crowd of onlookers. In this remote area, expecting an ambulance to arrive in a very short time was probably impossible. Even if the ambulance did arrive, by then the little boy might well and truly be dead.

”Are you sure he’s in a state of suspended animation?” Seeing Lin Zifeng’s serious attitude, Su Ni was somewhat moved too.

”I don’t have the time to explain so much to you right now. In medical terms, this phenomenon is known as a deep coma, also called suspended animation. It is a state of severe coma where the patient appears to be dead. The heartbeat and respiration are difficult to measure by hand and can only be measured with machines. Since the signs of life, like breathing and heartbeat, are very weak and almost indistinguishable from those of a dead person on the surface, it’s easy to mistakenly think they’re dead without a thorough examination. So, rescuing him now is still possible,” Lin Zifeng explained.

Lin Zifeng was a stubborn person. Once he was certain about something, he would never turn back. Knowing that the little boy could be saved, he would not easily give up.
