Chapter 318: Meatball, The Handsome Guy

”Oh! Never mind, never mind, just pretend I never said anything.” Nangong Bing seemed reluctant to reveal too much, especially about the man with the bronze mask.

”Boss, from what you’re saying, it sounds like something happened last night, right? What’s our relationship now? Just tell me clearly, so I don’t keep guessing.”

”What’s there to guess about? I’m safe and sound. You don’t need to worry about me.”

”No, boss, the more you say this, the more confused I get. You were kidnapped last night. How did you get back? Did someone rescue you? Or did you escape on your own? Do you want me to call the police?” Lin Zifeng asked with concern.

”You don’t need to bother yourself with that. Just mind your own business. Don’t act all mysterious all day.”

”I’m just concerned about you. If you don’t clarify, I really won’t be able to rest or eat.”

”You’re concerned about me?” Nangong Bing’s cold, charming eyes showed a hint of emotion, and a warm current flowed through her heart. Her delicate body trembled slightly. For many years, Nangong Bing had been struggling alone in the business world, with nobody to care about her, not even her father. Lin Zifeng’s words even made her eyelids slightly moist.

”Boss, are you okay? Is everything okay?” Lin Zifeng, with his keen observational skills, quickly noticed what was on Nangong Bing’s mind.

”I’m fine. I’m just going upstairs to rest. Just don’t bother me,” she said, covering her mouth and walking heavily upstairs.

As she passed by Lin Zifeng, the faint scent of jasmine was indeed intoxicating.

”By the way, Lin Zifeng, if you’re free later, why not take Meatball for a walk? It gets stuffy staying inside all day.”

”Walk? Meatball needs walking?” Lin Zifeng found Nangong Bing’s statement somewhat ridiculous. Such a big fellow, does he still need to be walked? It’s probably not walking the dog, but the dog walking the person, right?

”I’ll leave this to you. If Tangtang comes over later and sees that Meatball has lost weight, you’ll take the responsibility,” Nangong Bing said, too busy to argue with him anymore. Who had rescued her last night remained a mystery in her heart.

”Hey, hey, hey! Boss! That’s not okay,” Lin Zifeng wanted to refuse her request, but Nangong Bing had already run upstairs.

Glancing back at Meatball, which looked like a lump of crap, Lin Zifeng really did not enjoy being with him.

Seeing Meatball sulking and lying on the ground like a stray dog, Lin Zifeng squatted down and laughed, ”Hey Meatball, how about I take you for a ride later?”

Meatball ignored him, just twitching his ears and not even lifting his head to look at him, let alone meeting his eyes, which almost made Lin Zifeng feel insulted.

”Yo, you’re ignoring me, huh? Fine, after I shower, if you still aren’t moving, just wait and see how I deal with you!”

...

He had thought that after his shower, this Pug would leave on its own, but when Lin Zifeng came out, Meatball was still lying on the ground like a lump of crap, clearly not having listened to a word he’d said.

Alright! Shi**y dog, I refuse to believe I can’t handle you later!

After showering, Lin Zifeng did as Nangong Bing requested, taking the dog out for a walk. But before he could even put the leash on it, it just got up and headed out the door so decisively, without even a backward glance.

This really threw Lin Zifeng into confusion. Is this even a dog?

Thinking back to everything that had happened last night, Lin Zifeng finally let it go.

He now wondered what exactly this Pug was all about. Liu Tangtang called it a nine-million-dollar purchase. There must be something valuable about it, right? It couldn’t just be worth nine million merely for being a meatball.

Thinking about this, Lin Zifeng felt he really needed to test this guy. He had planned to take him out for a walk today and figure out what he was all about.

After leaving the house, Lin Zifeng didn’t think the handsome guy would go out for a stroll with him. But when he got to the garage, Dead Dog was actually sitting next to Nangong Bing’s sports car, still sulking and looking listless.

Those watery big eyes blinked rapidly, and his shiny black nose huffed and puffed. He didn’t look the least bit like a majestic Tibetan Mastiff; he was no different from any ordinary household mutt, maybe just a bit fatter. And a bit hairier.

Oh, come on!

This Haba dog was too crafty, sneaking ahead to the garage to wait for me.

Now Lin Zifeng was definitely harboring some mischievous thoughts.

Did he want to get in the car for a ride?

Dogs are supposed to be great at running, right?

Thinking about this, Lin Zifeng pointed at the handsome guy with a serious expression, ”You go out first, I’ll turn the car around, and then you can get in.”

The handsome guy ignored him.

”Hey! Meatball, I’m talking to you. Can’t you understand human speech?”

”Wuu wuu...”

It seemed that Lin Zifeng’s voice had scared him; the handsome guy began to whimper with his head lowered, just like a little kid.

He lay under the car wheel and stubbornly refused to move, as if to say, ”Run me over if you dare.”

”Darn it! Playing dead, huh? If you don’t get up, don’t blame me for being rude,” Lin Zifeng lowered his voice again, trying to threaten him with his tone.

”Wuu wuu...”

”Alright, alright, you win,” Lin Zifeng waved his hand. Seeing him looking so pathetic, he couldn’t bear to be harsh anymore.

No sooner had he spoken these words and opened the car door than this creature darted into the vehicle, his bulky body banging the door repeatedly.

”I #￥%&!” Lin Zifeng was so annoyed he almost kicked him out right there.

Looking at the handsome guy with his innocent, dazed look, Lin Zifeng couldn’t help but feel frustrated. This Haba dog was as cunning as a monkey.

Lin Zifeng had thought about making this creature run behind the car while he drove. But this guy turned out to be much smarter than Lin Zifeng had anticipated.

No wonder he had put on such a brave face last night.

...

About half an hour later, they had almost driven out of the downtown area. Since the outing was meant for a drive, it made sense to go out and about. Through the rearview mirror, Lin Zifeng kept an eye on the handsome guy’s behavior. After watching for a long time, Dead Dog was a complete coward; as soon as he got into the car, he behaved just like a Haba dog, quietly clinging to the leather seat in the back, and hardly moving at all. If one didn’t know better, they might have thought Lin Zifeng had brought along a dead dog instead.

”Hey! Meatball, stop pretending with me, I already know all about you, I know you understand human speech. I didn’t ask you out today for fun, so later when I ask you something, just nod your head, okay?” Lin Zifeng said.
