Chapter 324: The Uncle Pretending to Be a Tycoon

”I’m sorry, today is the weekend and the bank does not handle any official business. Please use your card or cash,” Manager Liu said with a smile, giving a timely nod of agreement to Nangong Bing, which wasn’t bad as it might help Nangong Bing remember him in the future.

”Then, then we’ll use the card,” the woman insisted, unwilling to give up. In her eyes, she had just hooked up with an easy mark, and life had just started to become enjoyable—how could she let it go so easily?

”But, but I didn’t bring my card,” the middle-aged man said, blowing a smoke ring, his eyes frantic and his expression somewhat impatient.

”If you need to write a check, today I will make an exception and offer you a special discount. What do you think about that, sir?”

Nangong Bing crossed her arms, a faint smile playing across her pretty face.

Zifeng seemed to sense something was off as well, but he didn’t say anything. Seeing Nangong Bing so confident, he guessed she had probably figured something out.

”Since Miss Nangong is willing to accept a check, then let’s write one,” said the middle-aged man. Although he appeared calm, his heart was in turmoil, and he secretly wiped off some cold sweat. He was no tycoon; just a poser who, a few days ago, had managed to win over a woman thanks to his friends. The very next day, she dragged him out shopping. But since the man dared to impersonate a tycoon, he had everything planned.

Originally, the man thought that, since banks wouldn’t handle check services over the weekend, he could take the woman out shopping to win her favor, but the scene turned out quite differently. Pretending to be a wealthy man was not so easy.

Seeing Nangong Bing willing to accept his check, the man didn’t panic. He casually wrote a few numbers on the check without even asking the price, and quickly added his signature.

”Are you sure this check isn’t a bad check?” Nangong Bing asked lightly, receiving the check and glancing at it, her face still lightly smiling. Although Nangong Bing’s face was calm, she had almost figured it all out mentally.

”What? You think my godfather would give you a fake check?” The woman’s sinister side twisted again. Women like her often thought quite differently from normal people. She didn’t care who Nangong Bing was. Since she had already offended her, she wasn’t afraid of further trouble—she was more worried that Nangong Bing wouldn’t bother with her.

”It’s not that. It’s just that there seems to be something off about this check you’ve given me,” Nangong Bing said, somewhat unusually deciding to engage them in conversation more than she normally would. In the past, she would not even bother looking and would have simply thrown the check away.

”If Miss Nangong thinks there is a problem with this check, please return it to me. Tomorrow, have your staff deliver these clothes and decorations to my home, and I’ll pay in cash then.”

Looking at Nangong Bing, who was giving them a not-so-smiling stare, the middle-aged man felt nervous inside. He had risked a lot by writing that check, fearing that Nangong Bing might not return it to him.

After all, it’s quite difficult to distinguish a real check from a fake one, even bank tellers can hardly tell just by the appearance.

”That won’t be necessary. However, since you have already written a check, I will naturally have someone deliver these boutique clothes to your residence tomorrow, but only under the condition that I get the money,” Nangong Bing responded.

”How about this then? You return the check to me, and once you have delivered these items to my home tomorrow, I will pay you immediately. What do you think about that, Miss Nangong? Hehe.” The middle-aged man seemed to have grown a bit nervous under Nangong Bing’s firm demands, and at this moment, he even regretted giving her the check. Thinking back, he wondered why he was so foolish; a slight twitch of his hand had caused such trouble.

”Oh?! Sir, that wouldn’t be right. Since my business is open, we must serve with the attitude of treating customers like gods. Since this gentleman and this lady have come to spend in my store, they are our bread and butter, our gods. We must serve you with the finest attitude,” Nangong Bing said, her tone light yet teasing, and even Manager Liu beside her nearly burst out laughing, not to mention Zifeng. He couldn’t believe his usually cold wife could joke like this under these circumstances—it seemed he had underestimated her before.

”Uh...” At this moment, the man was almost crying because of Nangong Bing, as the check was completely fraudulent. He was no tycoon. If Nangong Bing really had someone deliver the clothes to his home tomorrow, and he couldn’t pay, he’d surely be sued for fraud.

”Daddy...” Seeing the man looking helpless, the woman again cried out in a tender, sticky voice, seeing Nangong Bing with a wry smile, she felt rather uncomfortable.

”Uh... that, that.” The man opened his mouth but was at a loss for how to respond to Nangong Bing’s request.

At this point, Zifeng, who had been an observer all this while, finally finished his last sip of tea, stretched, and walked over to Nangong Bing’s side.

”Boss, could you come here a sec?”

Seeing Zifeng motioning to her, Nangong Bing did not show impatience; instead, she playfully rolled her eyes at him and smiled, ”What’s wrong? Can’t stand it anymore?”

Zifeng stiffened and then grinned broadly, ”How could that be? I just think that we should let them go. Let’s not play with them anymore. After all, we are all men, so I kind of understand the pain men feel. What do you think, boss?”

”Oh? Compassion kicking in? Bodhisattva heart coming through? Yo, yo, yo, Mr. Lin, I really didn’t see that coming. You still have such a good heart, huh? Didn’t you see that man deceiving that woman? Doesn’t he deserve a lesson?” Nangong Bing found Zifeng rather amusing today; this guy was actually showing a bodhisattva heart, which wasn’t like him at all.

”Hehe, Bingbing, I know you’re clever, but why should you do such heavy lifting? After all, I am your personal bodyguard and assistant, right? Leave this rough work to me; I’ll make sure to give you a satisfactory response. What do you say?”

Lin Zifeng grinned ingratiatingly, his face radiating harmlessness as one brown-noser followed another, and actually, it seemed to brighten Nangong Bing’s mood.

”Oh! Little Lin, I didn’t realize you cared so much about me. You’ve really considered everything, good and bad, huh?” Nangong said, intrigued by his sycophantic demeanor. She continued, ”Is this how you men pretend to be tycoons, to charm those naive girls? Looking at you, haven’t you used this trick quite often before? Come on, confess how many good families you’ve scandalized. A confession may spare you, resistance will not. Today, I’ll give you a chance. If you confess your past misdeeds now, I will not pursue them, but if you dare to lie to me—hmm! Mr. Lin, if I can’t discipline you at home, I still have ways to make your life difficult at the company.”

”Jesus! Boss, do you even remember your own last name? Your mood swings from hot to cold are too much for me, and even if I made mistakes in the past, those were in the past. Look at me now, I’m a law-abiding good citizen. You really shouldn’t throw everyone out with the trash. Standing right here in front of you, am I supposed to be shot too?”

”Get lost, you’re all talk.” If it hadn’t been for being in a public place, Nangong Bing might have actually laughed out loud because of him.

”About that thing, Boss, just leave it to me. I’ll handle it for you. We came out to shop, better less trouble than more, don’t you think?”

Yes, yes, not bad, Mr. Lin finally knows how to please with flattery now. It seems under my tireless teaching, he can be taught, after all. It seems I, Nangong Bing, am not only a natural in the business world but actually have some tricks up my sleeve in educating people too.

”Go ahead,” Nangong Bing, in a great mood, waved her hand dismissively.

”Got it!” Lin Zifeng hurried toward the counter.

”Hey there, you can all go home now, no clothes are being sold today,” Lin Zifeng declared, waving his hand, while Nangong Bing listened secretly from within the fitting room.

”They’re not selling anymore, so let’s go,” a man said, holding a woman’s hand, ready to leave.

”Why not?” the woman suddenly shouted.

”Why aren’t they selling? We’re willing to pay. Don’t you know that the customer is king when running a business? Besides, you’ve taken my godfather’s check. The check is already issued, so these items are mine now,” the woman’s behavior was a bit erratic, as if she had never seen branded items before, and the middle-aged man couldn’t hold her back.

”Godfather.” The woman called out again.

At this point, Lin Zifeng couldn’t stand it anymore and pulled out the man’s check, smiling at the woman, ”Do you even know what your godfather held?”

”Can’t you read? It’s a check,” the woman disdainly said, looking at Lin Zifeng, not deeming it worth her while to converse with someone so devoid of branded attire.

”A check? Ha, have you ever seen a check without an official seal? Have you ever written a check with capital letters?” Lin Zifeng sneered.

”What, what do you mean?” The woman was taken aback, her wide eyes staring at Lin Zifeng.

”Hey, you know, uncle, stop making a fuss. It’s enough fun for now, isn’t it time to clarify things? These tricks might fool little girls, but trying to deceive someone’s grown daughter, do you think that’s appropriate?”

Lin Zifeng said with a teasing smile, pointing at the middle-aged man.

At this moment, the middle-aged man’s face was ashen, wishing he could just find a hole to crawl into.

”Godfather, what does he mean?” The woman paused, taking a while to grasp the implication of Lin Zifeng’s words.

”Uh...”

The middle-aged man was almost in tears. What was he up to, and now following his wife’s lead?

As if Nangong Bing’s mocking wasn’t enough, now he had come to stir the pot.

He had barely enjoyed playing the tycoon, and here he was, being called out openly.
