Chapter 314: Is It Illegal for a Lunatic to Hit Someone?

As Lin Zifeng ignored all else to save the little boy’s life, the hundreds of people present gathered more and more, even the passing vehicles stopped, making the secluded road somewhat impassible.

With each shock delivered by Lin Zifeng, everyone clenched their fists for him, the atmosphere at the scene solidifying to an extreme, fearing that Lin Zifeng and the little boy might pass away at any moment.

”Lin Zifeng, keep it up! We believe in you!” Lin Zifeng’s actions not only moved everyone present, but even Su Ni began to cheer for Lin Zifeng. The perfect curves of her body outlined by her tight uniform, her proportions voluptuous, especially the pair in front that seemed like they could jump out at any moment.

Under Su Ni’s cheering, the surrounding junior officers followed suit, and ultimately the momentum infected everyone present.

Hundreds of people simultaneously clenched their fists, cheering for Lin Zifeng, their voices intertwining like a chant in a Buddhist hall.

Even Hong Wen, who had been quietly watching the whole scene, was dumbfounded. He hadn’t expected Lin Zifeng’s actions to garner such a response, even finding himself somewhat cheering for Lin Zifeng.

”Thud!”

Another dull sound, Lin Zifeng’s muscles tensed like writhing dragons, the veins on his robust arms bulging. If the boy couldn’t be saved soon, the longer they waited, the more likely even the last glimmer of hope would be lost!

But Lin Zifeng did not give up, as long as there was a glimmer of hope, the boy’s life could be saved unless he truly died.

Lin Zifeng once again directed the electric current between his palms, this being the last he could endure, as he already felt his heart muscles burning. If he continued, the boy might not be saved, and he might die first.

”Thud!”

This was undoubtedly the last of Lin Zifeng’s strength, as the high voltage coursed through his body, he felt his vision darken, his heart tremble more intensely, and even his leg muscles began to swell. Each shock felt like being beaten with sticks by thousands, indescribable pain.

”He’s awake, the boy is responding!”

”It’s true, he’s awake! Look everyone, the boy really came to!”

Finally, through Lin Zifeng’s relentless efforts, the little boy finally began to show some response.

”Doctor! Doctor! The boy is awake, he’s awake, quickly come to save him.”

Everyone made way for Lin Zifeng, hundreds of people cheering and clapping, each person’s eyes bright with joy for Lin Zifeng.

After the medical staff took the little boy away, Lin Zifeng finally took a breath.

Looking at Lin Zifeng, whose forehead was covered in sweat, his complexion seemed somewhat relieved, finally allowing Su Ni to relax a little.

”Officer Su, could you come over here for a moment?” Lin Zifeng weakly beckoned Su Ni with his finger.

”Are you alright?” Without thinking, Su Ni hurriedly passed Lin Zifeng water and tissues.

”How is the boy?” Su Ni asked.

At this moment, everyone at the scene was jumping for joy, as if they were at a carnival.

Watching everyone’s jubilant reactions, Lin Zifeng took a sip of water and said lightly while holding a cigarette, ”He’s made it through the critical period; he should be alright now.”

”But you...!”

Su Ni was about to ask Lin Zifeng if he was okay, but noticed that Lin Zifeng, with a cigarette in his mouth, began walking toward the police car.

With his head bowed and shoulders hunched, his silhouette cast a particularly lonely aura.

Su Ni was somewhat stunned, her teary eyes shimmering, thinking, ”What kind of person is this guy truly? Why can’t I see through him more and more?”

After the cheers of the crowd had died down, they wanted to pull Lin Zifeng out for some praise, but they discovered he had vanished early on. Not even his shadow could be seen among the crowd.

...

In the police car, Lin Zifeng wiped the sweat from his forehead and leisurely smoked a cigarette, as if the person who had just saved the young boy had nothing to do with him.

”Hey! How did you end up in the police car? They’re still looking for you,” Su Ni said quietly as she approached, and when she climbed into the police car, a glimpse of her fair and delicate skin really caught Lin Zifeng off guard.

”Looking for me? What for?” Lin Zifeng smiled.

”Weren’t you the one who just saved that little boy? Now everyone wants to thank you. You’ve become a hero in their eyes. Don’t you want to go out there and boast a bit, maybe make a statement?”

Su Ni gave him a meaningful look, implying that he usually loved to show off and brag. Why was he backing down now?

”Hey, Officer Su, what kind of person do you think I am? I stepped in to help because it was the right thing to do, not for any reward,” Lin Zifeng chuckled as he exhaled smoke rings.

”Go on, what kind of stepping in to help? Do you even know how to use words? If you don’t know, don’t misuse them, okay? Did your math teacher teach you Chinese in elementary school?” Su Ni rolled her eyes at him again.

Lin Zifeng did not retort but just kept chuckling, especially when his dark eyes inadvertently glanced at her shapely, pale legs, he blew smoke rings and remarked meaningfully, ”Officer Su, who could have guessed? You’re quite the looker, and those legs are really fair and tender.”

”Beat it! Keep looking like that, and I’ll break your third leg!”

”Err... is it that serious?” Lin Zifeng stuck out his tongue, looking at her somewhat surprised.

”Try it and see!” Su Ni’s fierce attitude indeed caused Lin Zifeng some distress. If she had such great legs, weren’t they meant to be seen?

As the two bantered and bickered, the police car door was pushed open, and Hong Wen appeared with a grin, staring at Lin Zifeng in the car and scoffed, ”I really didn’t see it coming, accidentally but actually managed to save the kid. Heh heh”

”Hong Wen, what do you mean by that?” Su Ni eyed him meaningfully, well aware that Hong Wen didn’t have a good attitude towards Lin Zifeng.

”Nothing, I just came to see how the hero was doing. Don’t misunderstand me, Su Ni.” Hong Wen smirked sinisterly.

The whiskers at the corner of his mouth twitched a few times.

”By the way, Officer Hong, I wonder if our bet from earlier still counts?” Lin Zifeng suddenly asked with a smile.

”What bet?” Hong Wen became alert.

”Whoa! Officer Hong, don’t play like that, right? You said that not even half an hour ago. Have you forgotten it already?”

As he spoke, Lin Zifeng jumped down from the police car.

”Get lost! I, as a police officer, how could I possibly make a bet with a lunatic like you? That’s impossible!” Hong Wen yelled, glaring at Lin Zifeng.

Clearly, he was already feeling shaky inside but was embarrassed to admit it in front of everyone.

A lunatic?

Lin Zifeng thought for a moment then turned and asked Su Ni with a smile, ”By the way, Officer Su, what do you normally do with lunatics in the police force? Isn’t it true that it’s not illegal for a lunatic to hit someone when they’re having an episode?”

Caught off guard by Lin Zifeng’s sudden question, Su Ni nodded by default, but just as she was about to explain something, she noticed that Lin Zifeng’s palm was already swinging.

Under Su Ni’s stunned gaze, Lin Zifeng actually swung his hand and slapped Hong Wen.

”Smack!”

The crisp sound echoed as Hong Wen was struck by Lin Zifeng, and blood gushed from his nose!
