Chapter 250: Chapter 253 Fun Dinner with a Beauty

Chapter 253: Dining with a Beauty

”Hehe, wasn’t really looking much, just thought that Director Zhang looked exceptionally beautiful, so I inadvertently took an extra glance or two.”

This guy started to play it cool with her again, to cover up the awkwardness between them and to try to lighten the mood, and so Lin Zifeng complimented Zhang Xixi.

However, Zhang Xixi truly was quite beautiful; Lin Zifeng wasn’t mindlessly flattering her—his compliment had its reasons.

The more Lin Zifeng looked at her, the more Zhang Xixi seemed unnatural, sitting in her chair fidgeting with the paper cup in her hands, while her clear, bright eyes subconsciously glanced down at her own feet, obviously feeling a bit embarrassed. In the company, nobody had ever been so bold as to openly stare at her and to be so forthright about it—Lin Zifeng was probably the first.

”Oh, come on, I’m not as exaggerated as you say.”

Zhang Xixi said, her head lowered, her voice soft but distinct.

”Exaggerated? Was it really exaggerated? Did I say something overblown? I was just telling the truth, haha. I’m not good at many things, but I do like to speak frankly. If there’s any linguistic conflict, I hope Director Zhang will be generous.”

Having said that, Lin Zifeng started to ingratiate himself, quickly standing up to pour a cup of tea for Director Zhang from the teapot.

With a flattering smile on his face.

”How could I?” Zhang Xixi nervously sipped her tea, then calmed herself and said to Lin Zifeng tenderly, ”Actually, I know there was a bit of a misunderstanding between us, but I’ve already forgotten it. I hope you don’t take it to heart either. From now on, we’ll be good friends and colleagues. I hope we can work together happily in the coming days...”

Zhang Xixi had her reasons for saying this; after all, Lin Zifeng was now her subordinate and assistant, and inevitably there might be some clashes at work. If they continued to maintain the current attitude, she thought, there would definitely be a gap between them.

That Zhang Xixi could take the initiative showed that she was quite thoughtful.

Of course, after listening, Lin Zifeng kept praising her—that was a great idea. Zhang Xixi’s intention couldn’t be more agreeable; he had been worried that she might take past issues to heart, but now it seemed that this apparently kind and silent girl was much stronger than he thought, at least she had an open and magnanimous heart.

The words ”good friend” that Zhang Xixi later mentioned confused Lin Zifeng a bit.

What kind of friend is a good friend?

Could it be X?

Darn it! I’m thinking wicked thoughts again.

”If you’re so magnanimous, can I really say anything else?” Lin Zifeng said with a bitter smile and a shake of his head as if Zhang Xixi had lowered his sunny image.

”So, from now on, we’re good colleagues and good friends, right?”

Zhang Xixi rarely took the initiative to stand up, holding her meal card and offered a toast to Lin Zifeng with the tea, which in the countryside, is a custom to show respect to others.

”Mmm, good friends, good colleagues, and you’re still my beautiful boss,” Lin Zifeng confirmed.

In the sunlight streaming in through the window, Zhang Xixi’s graceful figure was undeniably breathtaking.

Her light brown mixed with black slightly curly long hair, a white Korean-style gauzy top, and a pink figure-hugging pencil skirt indeed made for a comfortable sight.

She could be said to be a feast for the eyes, nothing less.

Lin Zifeng quickly stood up too, holding a cup of tea from his meal card, clinked cups with Zhang Xixi, and then they shared a smile.

”Yo, seems like you two are really hitting it off? Almost like the relationship between you and me,” Mu Yang suddenly appeared in front of them, holding a set of dishes and flatware, teasing Zhang Xixi with a smile.

”Mu Yang, what are you talking about?”

Being called out like that, in such an awkward situation, can really make someone blush, especially for someone as naive as Zhang Xixi, who was even more uncomfortable.

”Humph, tell me, what little secrets were you two discussing just now? Were you talking behind my back? No wonder neither of you noticed when I arrived; you must be up to something.”

After putting down the utensils, the moment Mu Yang bent over, Lin Zifeng sneaked another glance, immediately becoming tongue-tied with shock. It was an unintentional peek.

”Mu sister, you really misunderstood. What can I possibly have to talk about with Assistant Lin? We’re just good colleagues sharing the same room. It’s rare that we get together for a meal, so even chatting about trivial matters isn’t too much,” Zhang Xixi said with a smile, her pearly white teeth peeking out from her lips.

She exuded an extremely demure and ladylike temperament.

”Come on now, I was just joking with you. Can’t you tell?” Mu Yang first coquettishly glanced at Zhang Xixi, who remained indifferent, then turned her gaze toward him, who was busily sipping water, and continued to tease Xixi with a giggling laugh.

Two elves with completely different charms together truly made for a heart-stopping calamity.

Suddenly, it was unclear how many envious and jealous glances were attracted.

”By the way, what do you like to eat?”

Seeing that Zhang Xixi’s face had already turned a slight red, Mu Yang stopped teasing her.

She tapped her fingers on the table.

”I’m easy,” Lin Zifeng replied.

”Then let’s have some salmon.”

As soon as the topic of eating came up, Mu Yang’s eyes narrowed, and her mouth smacked excitedly, showing a trace of a little woman’s enthusiasm.

”I’m afraid of the fishy smell.”

”Then why did you just say you’re easy?”

Mu Yang was frustrated. He just said he was easygoing, but he was anything but.

”Xixi, what about you? What will you eat?”

”Oh, Sister Mu, please sit down and you two can chat. It’s not often that old friends get together to have a meal. Let me get the food for you,” Zhang Xixi offered graciously as she stood up.

”How could I possibly accept that,” Lin Zifeng said with a laugh, lifting his head.

Having his boss serve him food was an unimaginable privilege.

Mu Yang glared at him again and uttered teasingly, ”What have you got to be embarrassed about?”

”Manager Mu, let’s focus on eating and not divert to personal attacks. It’s rare for my beautiful boss to take the trouble, so don’t ruin my reputation in the meantime,” Lin Zifeng said seriously, then his eyes unintentionally glanced again at Mu Yang’s chest, which was deformed by the pressure of the table, stirring up a commotion inside him.

”Tell me, when I was away, what did you two talk about? Did you mention me? Do you have a thing for her?”

As soon as Zhang Xixi turned away, Mu Yang blurted out her crude question, causing Lin Zifeng nearly to spit out a mouthful of tea.

Who asks someone else a question like that?

Is she seriously this direct?

”I say, Manager Mu, how can you think like that? With your character and beauty, plus all three attributes of a powerful businesswoman—high class, grand, and sophisticated, low-key, luxurious, and tasteful—how could anyone talk about you? Besides, I haven’t even finished praising you yet. Look at the way you phrase things, making me, Lin Zifeng, sound like a bad guy.”

This guy might not have many skills, but his ability to give compliments and brown-nose was quite something.

With this perfectly timed flattery, Mu Yang couldn’t have been happier.

She nearly wished she could bring out her one precious prize to treat Lin Zifeng to a pot of it.
