Chapter 206: Boss, You’re Not Being Supportive

”If you’re not full, you can order more until you are,” he said.

In front of a beautiful woman, even if he was hot-tempered, he had to put on an act.

Especially someone like Nangong Bing who was indeed a rare beauty, what Qiao Bu’en could do now was just endure and try his best to display his gentlemanly demeanor, to show off in front of Nangong Bing.

He could deal with this guy later when the opportunity arose.

But he had no idea how terrible the consequences of what he had just said would be.

Since he had let him keep ordering until he was full, Lin Zifeng was not going to be polite.

He waved over the waiter.

”What else would you like, sir?”

”Bring the tastiest, most delicious stuff you have in this restaurant. Today, this handsome guy is treating.”

Lin Zifeng declared generously, though inside, he sneered. You wanted me to keep eating until I was full, right? Well, today I will eat until you go bankrupt.

”This...”

Waiters aren’t fools, they knew that people who frequented this kind of café were either rich or noble. He quickly realized that today’s VIP was Nangong Bing, but the one footing the bill was Qiao Bu’en, so he glanced at the poorly dressed Lin Zifeng with a strange look, then turned his eyes towards Qiao Bu’en.

Qiao Bu’en nodded unwillingly.

But boy, was he mad inside.

”Handsome, you wouldn’t mind that I ordered so much, right? A person of your wealth and status shouldn’t be bothered by this small amount of money, unlike me, a poor guy who has never even eaten in a café before. I even have to drink that one-yuan per packet Bird’s Nest coffee powder at home, sigh. Comparing people can really piss you off, huh?”

The guy put on a pitiful and tragic display. First, he elevated Qiao Bu’en, then he lowered his own status, and who knew if he did it on purpose.

Watching Lin Zifeng play the fool, Qiao Bu’en regretted his guts out, realizing this guy had been playing him. He was a fool for giving him so much money just a moment ago. Money was a small matter, but Qiao Bu’en certainly couldn’t just let himself be played like this without reason.

Just as he was about to go to the restroom to let off his unhappiness, Lin Zifeng, with a big grin, suddenly stood up, almost knocking Qiao Bu’en over.

”You!”

Qiao Bu’en was already very upset, this guy even bumped into him.

”Sorry, I was just too excited. I’ve never been to a place like this to drink coffee before. Thanks, handsome.”

Lin Zifeng thanked Qiao Bu’en in a rather graceless manner.

But at this point, Qiao Bu’en was already furious, his face ashen as he thought a thousand curses: Drink, drink, drink yourself to death!

Then he headed straight to the restroom without looking back.

Seeing this, Nangong Bing also felt speechless, having known Lin Zifeng’s ludicrous behavior not for just a day or two.

But by the time Qiao Bu’en came back, Nangong Bing and Lin Zifeng were already gone.

Only large and small packing boxes and messy cutlery remained on the café table.

And the coffee he hadn’t drunk was also wiped out by Lin Zifeng.

As he brooded about cursing, the waiter handed him the bill with a professional smile, Qiao Bu’en glared at him in annoyance, scaring the waiter into an involuntary shiver.

But when it was time to pay, he found that someone had cut a hole in his suit pocket!

His wallet, which he had casually carried along, had disappeared under these circumstances.

At this point, Qiao Bu’en was flabbergasted—could it be that it had been stolen by that bastard when he had gotten up earlier?

It seemed that the guy was playing a game of ’the tiger disguised as a pig’ with him, not only swindling his money but also his wallet. What on earth was this guy’s deal?

Now so poor that he couldn’t even pay the bill, the previously oblivious waiter now saw the signs as Qiao Bu’en kept reaching into his pocket without paying. He realized that this fellow had come for a ”dine and dash.”

His good temper vanished instantly.

”What, can’t pay the bill?”

Qiao Bu’en, who had been full of confidence just before, now completely cowered. Seeing the waiter in arms akimbo, his fierce demeanor, Qiao Bu’en’s face, already quite pale, turned even darker.

Meanwhile, Lin Zifeng sat in the car, unable to help but laugh aloud by himself. Thinking of the scene of Qiao Bu’en unable to pay the bill later, he felt utterly delighted; flaunting oneself too much often leads to an early downfall. Who asked him not to love himself?

But little did he know, he was entertaining himself while Qiao Bu’en was truly in a miserable state. Not being able to pay the bill was definitely not a simple matter, especially for such creatures who clearly had money but couldn’t pay; they were even more pitiable. Heaven knows what kind of pathetic sight would emerge later.

”Why are you laughing?”

Nangong Bing was puzzled to see Lin Zifeng driving and laughing all by himself, looking like a simpleton.

”No, nothing.”

He certainly didn’t want to say it in front of Nangong Bing; who knows what complications that might bring.

”Boring.”

Nangong Bing rolled her eyes, not caring to bother with him.

She simply chose to close her eyes and rest, enjoying the peace.

”Boss, can I talk to you about something?”

”What is it?”

Nangong Bing still wore a frosty expression, not even a slight smile, but instead looked at him with a deeply disgusted gaze.

”I don’t want to be a security guard anymore. Can you, venerable boss, perhaps promote me or something?”

Lin Zifeng tried to present his simpleton smile as peacefully as possible, afraid that Nangong Bing might lose her temper at any moment, leaving him not only unfulfilled but possibly scolded to death.

”Promotion? Ha, you think you can get a promotion?”

Nangong Bing laughed coldly, even thinking that Lin Zifeng must have either gotten his head stuck in a door or been kicked by a donkey.

How could someone like him, just idling away, think of promotion? What a joke.

”Uh, boss, why do I get the feeling from your tone that you’re not very supportive? It’s just a promotion, no need to look at me like that.”

Lin Zifeng felt quite frustrated.

”Supportive? I should give you a ’supportive’ dead man’s head! You have neither the education nor the experience; why should you get a promotion? Don’t you know that our corporation does not engage in nepotism? Even if you have a good relationship with my father, you can forget about it here in my territory.””

”Tsk! It’s just a promotion. Is it necessary to talk to me in that tone? You’re the highest director of the corporation, and you can’t handle such a little thing as a promotion? So much for boasting, I’ve really misjudged the person.”

With that, Lin Zifeng shook his head, looking utterly perplexed.

Especially the words he had just said, they almost drove Nangong Bing mad.
