Chapter 226: Chapter 229 Brother Lin, I Understand Everything

Chapter 229 Brother Lin, I Get It All

What the heck? Car fare, my ass!

The middle-aged driver’s nose was almost crooked with anger; he quickly forced a laugh and said to Lin Zifeng, ”Come on, brother, you can’t be joking like this, I just brought you back, I really can’t afford this kind of joke.” The smile on the middle-aged man’s face gradually solidified.

”I’m not joking with you either.” Lin Zifeng continued to ignore him and walked straight towards Tianyu Group.

”Hey, hey, hey!”

The middle-aged man grabbed the luggage Lin Zifeng was carrying. With an unpleasant face and one hand on his hip, he said menacingly, ”I don’t care if you’re pretending to be dumb, but if you don’t settle this car fare today, you’re not leaving here. Do you believe I will trash you right here at Tianyu Group?!”

”Oh? Trash me?”

Now Lin Zifeng was interested. He turned his head toward the middle-aged driver and flashed a grin, ”I’m curious, how exactly do you plan to trash me?”

”Kid, are you asking for trouble? You dare to play dirty tricks on me, you don’t know who I used to be.”

”A soldier.”

Lin Zifeng answered honestly.

”Hah, you know I’m a soldier and you still dare to play dirty tricks? Do you know where I used to hang out?”

”I don’t know.” Lin Zifeng’s expression remained unchanged.

”You!”

Even someone with the best temper would be infuriated to the point of spitting blood by Lin Zifeng. Is he playing the fool to catch the wise with me?

”You tampered with the meter, deliberately adding dozens of kilometers when I wasn’t paying attention. You think I didn’t know? Also, when you were showing me the meter, it was already displaying dozens of kilometers. Not only did you not clear it, but you also added it to my fare. You really thought I didn’t see it?”

Lin Zifeng’s accusations were true and piercing as he pointed out the middle-aged man’s mischief in the car, neatly and sequentially exposing the driver’s inner schemes.

All of a sudden, the fat figure of the middle-aged driver trembled slightly. Damn, it seemed he had met his match this time.

Tricking others, harming people, only to be caught in his own trap.

Lin Zifeng merely glanced at him a few times then continued on his way inside. He didn’t even bother to look back; after all, it was the middle-aged driver who had tried to cheat him first and even dragged him into taking the illegal taxi. Whose fault was that?

A lesson learned, the wiser one becomes. If he didn’t taste bitterness, feel the pain of hitting a wall, how would he learn? Otherwise, he might cheat countless migrant brothers coming to the city in the future.

”Kid, stop right there!”

Seeing that Lin Zifeng had seen through his tricks, the middle-aged driver burst into a rage. He rolled up his sleeves and, baring his teeth and claws, ferociously lunged at Lin Zifeng.

However, the patrolling security team had already noticed the commotion. As the middle-aged driver charged, the gatekeeper Zheng Liang, a brawny man possibly six feet tall or even taller, knocked the driver to the ground with a mighty shove.

And several other security officers, wielding their batons, circled around the middle-aged driver, all seemingly eager to rush up and tear him apart.

Lin Zifeng hurriedly held them back; after all, the situation could be big or small, and it was better to avoid making things worse. He borrowed two hundred dollars from Zheng Liang, handed it to the middle-aged driver with a stern voice, ”In the future, it’s fine to drive a black cab, but don’t scam people. You harm others and poison yourself.”

Then, as the middle-aged driver stood there in shock, Lin Zifeng turned and walked away indifferently.

Of course, the driver wasn’t a complete fool. Seeing the situation in front of him, even an idiot would know what to do next.

...

After the driver left, a crowd gathered around under Zheng Liang’s lead. Some offered cigarettes, others buttered him up, and the more agile brothers cleared a path for Lin Zifeng.

Lin Zifeng was momentarily stunned by the turn of events.

What’s with these security brothers today? Did they hit the five-million jackpot? Or did someone score with an office lady from the company?

”Brother Lin, Brother Lin, tell me, what happened with that driver? You don’t seem like someone who’d skip out on a cab fare,” Zheng Liang, like a flatterer, overwhelmed Lin Zifeng with his nearly six-foot stature.

Standing next to Lin Zifeng, he was like a primitive gorilla. It was as awkward as it gets.

”Yeah, Brother Lin, come on, tell us what exactly happened with that wimp just now? You didn’t seem too happy earlier?”

Another scrawny security guard quickly stepped forward to light a cigarette for Lin Zifeng.

”It’s all trivial stuff, not worth mentioning,” he said.

Honestly, chatting with these security guard brothers is just so comfortable. At least when we’re together, we can laugh and talk without worrying about status or whatnot.

”Brother Lin, if you don’t want to talk about it, that’s fine, but the rest of us are still waiting for you to share some wisdom or something, Brother Lin. Don’t keep it all to yourself.”

As he spoke, Zhang Liang gave Lin Zifeng a knowing look that all men understand.

It left Lin Zifeng totally confused.

Why are all the brothers in the security department so enthusiastic today?

”What do you mean I’m keeping secrets? What are you all talking about? I don’t understand.”

Lin Zifeng was indeed intrigued, now curious about what these guys were up to.

”Brother Lin, stop playing coy with us. Your little affair is something all of us in the security department already know about. Brother Lin, you don’t need to take it so seriously. Just talk about it, and the guys will give you some advice. Maybe with Brother Lin you being in the limelight, the rest of us might also get lucky.”

”Damn! Are you guys full and have nothing better to do today? Just finding joy in teasing me?” Lin Zifeng handed out cigarettes to everyone, and a group of security guards, both young and old, surrounded him, each with a weird expression and a hint of sleaziness.

From their looks, Lin Zifeng got a bad feeling. Could it be that they knew about what happened at the airport?

Impossible, Lin Zifeng immediately dismissed his own guess.

”Brother Lin, stop pretending, really. Everyone in the security department knows about your relationship with Manager Mu Yang. You don’t need to explain, really.”

What the hell! When did I ever have a thing with IT’s Mu Yang? What could I have to do with her? Now Lin Zifeng was even more frustrated.

”Are you guys out of your minds?” said Lin Zifeng.

”Brother Lin, to explain is to cover up! We all understand.” Just as Lin Zifeng was about to deny everything, he was met with a unanimous response from all the security department brothers, with each bastard’s face displaying unspeakable expressions, all winking at Lin Zifeng with that look that all men understand.

”You...!” Lin Zifeng stood up in shock.

”Brother Lin, are you really clueless?”

Zheng Liang took a deep drag on his cigarette, looking genuinely surprised.

”Clueless about what?”

Lin Zifeng was annoyed. I haven’t bothered anyone, so what the hell could I know?

”Brother Lin, stop denying it, really. Actually, it’s no big deal. Even if your affair with her got out, we would still stand by you,” Zheng Liang said before shouting to the brothers behind him, ”Right?”

”Yes!”

The unanimous reply was deafening.

I’m flabbergasted! Lin Zifeng was nearly driven mad by them and was just short of cursing bluntly.

Little did Lin Zifeng realize that Mu Yang from IT, like a wife yearning for her husband’s return, had gotten into the habit of visiting the security department both when coming to work and leaving. Moreover, the first thing she often asked about each time was news of Lin Zifeng.

Lin Zifeng had stayed in Dragon City for a few days, then without stopping, flew straight to Macau, which made people like Mu Yang miss him painfully.

After all, she was a little rich girl herself.

Just as Lin Zifeng was about to step forward and demand the truth, at that moment, Jia Zhenjing, the team leader of the security squad, rushed over from inside the company, gasping for air.

”Lin... Brother Lin! Lin... Brother Lin!”

Watching him run as if he was about to lose a child, especially with his trousers about to fall below his waist, made everyone worry for him, and the pants were even marked with a white substance. It seemed this fellow hadn’t been sparing his own hands of late.
