Chapter 221: Chapter 224 I Want to Go Home

Chapter 224 I Miss Home

”Deal! Boss, you just keep busy for now. I’ll handle it when I get back.”

Lin Zifeng wasn’t really used to this kind of phone conversation. Sitting in the crowded Kentucky Fried Chicken, a foreign fast-food restaurant, he felt somewhat uneasy. Why not eat proper Chinese food instead of KFC? It’s like not supporting domestic products at all.

”That’s fine, but I’m only giving you two days. If you don’t solve it within two days, don’t blame me, Nangong Bing, for doing something excessive to you,” Nangong Bing threatened playfully, but inside she couldn’t help laughing, especially at Lin Zifeng’s fawning and pleasing manner—it made her feel very comfortable and pleased.

”Hehe, Boss, you are clearly threatening me.”

”You can think of it as a threat if you like. Anyway, I’m only giving you two days. If you don’t come back and take care of it by then... haha, I think you should know what kind of person I, Nangong Bing, am.”

”Oh boy, Boss, you can’t play people like that. Even if you don’t trust me, at the very least there are more than a hundred brothers in the security department. You could at least wait for me to come back and discuss it, right?”

”Alright, then come back soon.”

...

After hanging up with Nangong Bing, Lin Zifeng secretly wiped away some sweat. Nangong Bing was clearly picking on him. If he hadn’t promised her father to help, he really couldn’t be bothered with these trivial matters—it was thankless work.

Looking at Hua Buqi and Meng Youjing staring at him with puzzled faces, Lin Zifeng chuckled and said, ”Huahua, look, you’ve played around in Macau for quite a few days already, don’t you think it’s time to go back?”

Lin Zifeng felt like he had a bitter taste in his mouth that he couldn’t spit out. He had agreed to help the girl out of trouble in Macau; he never promised to become her servant.

But now, he had become not just a servant but practically a slave to them, following them around every day wherever they went. What kind of situation was this, anyway? He was, after all, a man—a pure breadwinner.

”No, I haven’t had enough fun with Sister Meng yet. We’ve only been in Macau for a few days. Going back now is just too rushed.”

The young girl, while munching on her chicken leg, turned to Meng Youjing with a smile, ”What do you think, Sister Meng?”

Poor Meng Youjing seemed to be still lost in thought and didn’t catch what the young girl had just said. When she noticed the girl’s gaze shift towards her, Meng Youjing quickly agreed with a nod, although she only knew that the girl was winking at her non-stop.

”Huahua, your cousin’s company is facing major trouble. I need to go back first. If you feel like you haven’t had enough fun, why not continue to hang out with Assistant Meng for a few more days? When you’re done, just give me a call and I’ll come to pick you up. How does that sound? A bodyguard doing this much is probably rare.”

”Ah?! What kind of big trouble has the cousin’s company encountered? You seem so anxious. It’s not facing bankruptcy, is it?”

The young girl looked at Lin Zifeng with wide, surprised eyes.

”...!”

Lin Zifeng felt a bit dizzy. How did the conversation turn to bankruptcy in her mouth?

”It’s not as serious as bankruptcy, but Tianyu Group’s entire network programming has been attacked by hackers, causing the company’s forum and domain name browser to crash. So, I have to go back immediately, otherwise, the consequences are unimaginable.”

As he said these words, Lin Zifeng exaggerated a bit and added vivid facial expressions as if Tianyu Group was truly on the verge of collapse.

”Then go back, hurry back, and don’t worry about us for now. We will go back after playing for two more days.”

”How can I do that? I’ll be worried leaving you behind in Macau,” Lin Zifeng replied with concern.

”It’s fine, don’t worry. Sister Meng and I will just play for two more days. After that, we’ll go back to Zhonghai City. You can just be responsible for picking me up then. What’s there to be scared of? We’re not afraid, and you’re a man, what is there for you to fear?”

If it were any other day, how nice it would have been if Hua Buqi had been as sensible as she is now. She seems like a completely different person.

Lin Zifeng wasn’t being overly sentimental. After stuffing the last rib into his mouth from the dinner table, he strode quickly toward the dining room.

Before leaving, he didn’t forget to remind Huahua to give him a heads-up when she headed back later.

You couldn’t deny it, the little girl felt a touch of warmth in her heart.

”Sister Meng, what do you think cousin is going to do with that beastly uncle?”

Not long after Lin Zifeng left, the young girl started gossiping.

”Huh?!”

Meng Youjing, who was deep in thought, was startled by the question.

She didn’t know what was wrong with her today, her mind hadn’t been able to concentrate all day. Perhaps it was the capability that Lin Zifeng had displayed today at the production company that truly unsettled Meng Youjing.

After all, a woman’s suspicions can be quite heavy, especially towards a man like Lin Zifeng who had previously seemed quite ordinary. His actions today had indeed given Meng Youjing quite the shock.

”Sister Meng, what’s with you today? Why are you so distracted? Are you still bothered by what happened today?” Hua Buqi found it strange since the production company had already given them assurances and even drafted a new contract. Why wasn’t Meng Youjing happy now?

”Oh, it’s nothing. I just feel a little homesick.”

Meng Youjing forced a smile.

”Homesick? Sister Meng, are you sure you’re not hiding something from me?”

”How could that be? What could I possibly be hiding from you?”

”You’re lying. Based on my understanding of you, Sister Meng, you definitely have something on your mind, otherwise you wouldn’t be so absent-minded.”

One had to admit, the young girl’s observational skills were quite remarkable; she could even detect the slight worries lurking in Meng Youjing’s mind.

...

Holding his plane ticket, Lin Zifeng rushed towards the gate, feeling like he had become their errand boy. These past few days, he’d been running back and forth, as tired as a panting dog—first accompanying Nangong Bing to Dragon City, then to Macau, what a mess. He hadn’t had a chance to relax properly at all, caught between the two women day and night, almost turning into a male escort.

Lin Zifeng even began to wonder if he owed these cousin sisters from his past life.

”Sir, please proceed through the security check.”

Since everything had happened so suddenly, Lin Zifeng was in such a rush to get back that he actually forced his way through a temporary security check.

Immediately the security alarm went off incessantly, and the security lady hurriedly stepped forward to block Lin Zifeng’s path.

”My apologies.” Lin Zifeng let out a gentlemanly chuckle.

Then he lined up obediently to go through the security check.

However, while Lin Zifeng was being checked, he caught sight of a familiar figure.
