Chapter 246: Chapter 249: Let’s See If You’ve Become Handsomer

Chapter 249: Seeing If You’ve Gotten Handsomer

”You!”

Zheng Xiaofang unconsciously stepped back twice, her complexion instantly turning extremely pale...

”Sister Fang!”

Upon recognizing the person behind him, Lin Zifeng hurriedly snapped back to attention.

He cursed inwardly, Damn it! Just at this moment, he had been reminded of that unbearable past.

”Sister Fang, are you alright?”

Lin Zifeng quickly moved forward, his eyes gradually softening.

”What’s wrong with you?”

Zheng Xiaofang’s pretty, pale face was still utterly colorless.

”I’m sorry, Sister Fang. I just remembered some things from the past,” Lin Zifeng said awkwardly, scratching his head, trying to lighten the mood.

”Are you hiding something from me? Your expression just now was so frightening. Have you experienced something in the past that’s hard to look back on?”

Zheng Xiaofang, perceptive as ever, pinpointed the deep emotions hidden within Lin Zifeng’s heart. When a person is deeply immersed in memories, they tend to act out of the ordinary.

Lin Zifeng was aware of this too. After all, his three years working as a mercenary had likely left him with some post-traumatic symptoms.

After all, he had killed far too many people in the past. So many that he couldn’t even remember the exact number.

Faced with Zheng Xiaofang’s skeptical gaze, Lin Zifeng continued to play dumb and chuckled, ”How could that be! How could someone as mentally and physically healthy as me have memories that are hard to look back on? Sister Fang, you’re overthinking it.”

”But just now...”

Zheng Xiaofang opened her mouth, but in the end, she didn’t say what she wanted to.

”I was just messing with you earlier, got scared, didn’t you? Hehe, I really didn’t expect that our finance department’s Sister Fang could get scared too. Sigh, if I’d known, I wouldn’t have teased you. Now I’ve played with fire.”

Lin Zifeng continued to make up stories, trying to divert the topic elsewhere.

”Don’t flatter yourself, you think you can scare me with that little act of yours?” Zheng Xiaofang’s complexion gradually returned to normal as she gave Lin Zifeng a deep and unamused glare.

”Haha, so I didn’t scare you?” Lin Zifeng rolled his eyes, stroked his chin, and muttered to himself, ”Hmm, it seems our Sister Fang has quite the resolve. Should I try to scare you again?”

Without waiting for Zheng Xiaofang’s reaction, he shamelessly brought his face close to Zheng Xiaofang’s mouth, squinting his eyes and greedily inhaling the unique scent of her body, looking lecherously satisfied.

”Sister Fang smells so good!”

”Get away! Annoying, I don’t have time to mess around with you.”

Zheng Xiaofang pushed him away and then gave him a sharp look.

The two were flirting with each other in the office like a couple playfully in love.

”Ahem, ahem!”

Just as Lin Zifeng was about to proceed with his next plan to make Zheng Xiaofang forget about that scene,

two coughs suddenly came from behind him.

Suddenly frightened, Zheng Xiaofang’s heart skipped a beat.

She quickly stepped back several paces and tidied up her clothes a bit to avoid any indecorous sight, looking like a thief with a guilty conscience.

As for Lin Zifeng, whose skin was as thick as a city wall, he couldn’t have cared less.

When both of them simultaneously turned their gaze toward the door.

Lin Zifeng was instantly stupefied.

And the person at the door was also grinning, watching the amorous pair inside playfully teasing and bickering with each other.

”Mu, Manager Mu, what brings you here?”

Lin Zifeng’s face turned red, and he started to feel a bit awkward. His speech became hesitant and faltering.

”Oh? Why can’t I be here?” Mu Yang slightly raised her eyebrows, then calmly said, ”I heard you got promoted? Not bad, climbing from a little security guard to your current position is truly impressive.”

Hearing her tone, why did it feel a bit strange? It was as if there was an intense smell of gunpowder to it.

Zheng Xiaofang almost couldn’t help but laugh, her face blushing as she politely said to Mu Yang, ”Manager Mu, sorry to have kept you waiting, I had already notified the director, and the director is waiting for you inside.”

”Alright, thank you, Xiaofang. I will go there in a bit, I still have something to discuss with him.” Mu Yang still had a grin on her face as she looked at Lin Zifeng, not the slightest bit angry. As the newly appointed IT manager, she had the magnanimity to spare, after all, her twenty-plus years of life experience and background were not something a young girl like Zheng Xiaofang could compare with.

”You two chat first, then. I’ll go out first, Manager Mu, you can notify me anytime if there’s anything.”

After displaying a professional smile, Zheng Xiaofang gestured to Lin Zifeng a couple of times before slowly taking her leave.

”Thank you, Xiaofang.”

Once Zheng Xiaofang had left, Mu Yang walked toward Lin Zifeng with her hands behind her back, step by step, eyeing him up and down, and making oddly intrigued clicking sounds with her mouth.

It made Lin Zifeng feel like he was an alien.

Is this how you look at people?

Did flowers grow on my face or something?

”What, what are you looking at?” After Zheng Xiaofang walked away, Lin Zifeng also quickly adjusted his demeanor, the embarrassed and clueless look from earlier instantly replaced by an air of nonchalance.

”Checking to see if you’ve gotten handsomer or not.”

This IT department head was simply not content unless she shocked others.

Her words nearly stupefied Lin Zifeng.

Where was this coming from? What do you mean have I gotten handsomer? Brother has always been handsome, okay? Is that how you give a backhanded compliment?

”I say, Manager Mu, why does the tone of your words sound so creepy? The more I listen, the more it seems your words are taking on a different meaning?”

Women’s hearts are inscrutable, who knows what they’re really thinking.

”Oh, getting angry? Are you starting to get mad because of just a few words?”

”Angry? What’s there to be angry about? Didn’t you just ask if I’ve gotten handsomer recently? So, how do I look? Not bad, right?” Lin Zifeng shrugged his shoulders, then turned around in front of Mu Yang, with a smug expression on his face.

”Heh, I can’t say I’ve noticed you’ve gotten handsomer, but I do detect a hint of cricket, tsk tsk. Just a few days not seen, and now you sit high, with real power over the company’s economic authority!”

Mu Yang held her arms across her chest, shaking her head, her tsk-tsk admiration filled with an obvious intention to needle him.

”I say, Manager Mu, speak plainly if you have something to say, let’s keep things professional, no need for personal attacks. It’s just a financial director assistant position, isn’t it? Is it worth your exaggerated praise? Compared to you, Manager Mu, I’m still miles behind.”

Lin Zifeng gave Mu Yang an annoyed look, then sat down on the office’s only sofa, crossing his legs and leisurely lighting up a cigarette.

Squinting his eyes, he kept a close watch on Mu Yang’s every move, truly afraid that this woman might use him as her amusement on a whim.

Mu Yang shot him a sidelong glance, thinking to herself that this guy really thought he was the cat’s meow.

Consequently, she changed the subject and said, ”Tell me, where have you been these past few days?”
