Urban All-Round Master

Chapter 233: Elf of the Shopping Mall

Clutching Nangong Bing’s note, Lin Zifeng scurried towards the Finance Department. To be honest, Lin Zifeng genuinely did not relish the thought of encountering Zhang Xixi from Finance again. Just consider the embarrassing incident that occurred last time they met: they bumped into each other twice, generating sparks that could’ve torn their clothes.

Some say that it takes five hundred glances in a past life to lead to a simple brush past in this one. He had no idea what sins he’d committed in the world of martial arts to deserve this, but within just a month, he had somehow become entangled, more or less, with every famous beauty at Tianyu Group.

And now, even Mu Yang from the IT department had started to cling to him.

If things continued this way, who knew how Lin Zifeng could cope in the future.

Despite his reluctance, Lin Zifeng still made his way to the Finance Department.

Seeing the door to the Finance Director’s office slightly ajar, Lin Zifeng spent an eternity in awkward hesitation, still lacking the courage to knock on the door proactively. He knew if he barged in, he might get thrown out, or perhaps cause another disaster.

Yet here lay the crux of the matter: standing idle by the Director’s door was not a solution either.

Lin Zifeng subconsciously reached into his pocket and pulled out a cigarette. Nervous, he began smoking right outside the Director’s office, finishing three sticks in a row. The passing employees of the Finance Department gave Lin Zifeng strange looks, puzzled by what he was doing there—and why he was smoking in a public area, no less.

At that moment, an attractive woman with delicate features approached. She offered Lin Zifeng a professional smile, then asked politely, ”Excuse me sir, who are you looking for? Is there anything I can assist you with?” Her faint smile radiated a warmly sunny disposition.

Lin Zifeng uncomfortably sized her up, especially his eyes, which inadvertently drifted to her vast and gently swaying bosom. The sight of that glaringly pale and voluptuous cleavage instantly stoked the fire within Lin Zifeng.

”Oh, it’s nothing. I’m a new colleague here at the Finance Department, my name is Lin Zifeng.” He tried his best to control his unruly eyes, avoiding her alluring pale skin. The woman’s proportioned figure was undeniably a sight to behold; had she not possessed such personal charm, she probably wouldn’t have had to work at Tianyu Group at all.

One should know that in places like Tianyu Group, where demons and beauties coexist, it’s tough to survive without some personal attributes.

”Oh, so you are the new colleague, Lin Zifeng. Are you perhaps here to see Director Zhang?” The woman’s eyes flickered as she quickly caught on, even though she had never heard of Lin Zifeng—a guy whose name was not on anyone’s radar. For the smooth operators of the corporate world, lacking such a responsive wit would make survival all the more challenging.

”Yes,” Lin Zifeng’s facial muscles twitched slightly, particularly when he noticed how the woman’s emotions caused her pale, fragrant skin to shiver ever so slightly. Lin Zifeng’s heart leapt to his throat, fearing that if the lady was not careful, something might just fall out.

Any man would appreciate women, especially the stunning ones who could topple cities with their beauty, and Lin Zifeng was no exception. In his eyes, he favored the innocent, sisterly type, and adored delicate, lovable girls. He enjoyed their charming allure...

But his sense of reality reminded him that he couldn’t indulge such thoughts, for the burdens and responsibilities he carried were far too great...

”Director Zhang is dealing with documents in the office. Should I let her know you’re here?” The beauty’s dark, autumn-water eyes were sparkling with sharpness.

In the short time they had been chatting, those spirited eyes had already sized up Lin Zifeng from head to toe. She even glanced at the black bracelet and the Earl wristwatch Lin Zifeng was wearing, without leaving any trace.

”That’s not really necessary, it would be too much trouble. And...”

”There’s no trouble at all. After all, we’re going to be colleagues. My name is Zheng Xiaofang, everyone calls me Xiaofang. If you don’t mind, you can call me Sister Fang.” As she said this, her enchanting eyes swept over Lin Zifeng once more, her flirtatiousness possibly rivalling that of the IT department’s Mu Yang. If it weren’t for being at the company, Lin Zifeng even wondered if he could withstand her beguiling smile.

Seeing Lin Zifeng’s fair and handsome face flush ’whoosh’ with color, Zheng Xiaofang chuckled and looked again at the young man before her, finding him rather cute. Deciding not to tease him further, she said with a flirtatious laugh, ”What’s the matter? Are you dazzled by Sister Fang’s beauty?”

Dammit! Another elf wreaking havoc on people.

Gazing at her beautiful face, as delicate as a lotus, and her alluring devilish figure, Lin Zifeng silently appraised in his heart.

”Hehe, how could I? Sister Fang, do you really think I’m as lustful as you imagine? I am a gentleman, you know.” Lin Zifeng squinted his eyes, stroked his chin, and grinned exaggeratedly.

”Alright, alright, I won’t tease you anymore.” Seeing Lin Zifeng’s face turning redder, Zheng Xiaofang quickly stopped herself from further provoking him. Actually, she was mistaken; it wasn’t her teasing that made him blush.

Lin Zifeng didn’t say anything, simply letting Zheng Xiaofang misunderstand as he stood there with his head bowed, smiling foolishly.

With documents in her arms and swaying her hips slightly, Zheng Xiaofang headed towards Zhang Xixi’s office, leaving Lin Zifeng alone to face the beehive-like cubicle workspace. He watched as dozens of sharp gazes swept over him, and his heart ’clanged’ with the realization that his days ahead might not be so easy.

Zheng Xiaofang’s ability to disappear and not return was beyond Lin Zifeng’s imagination. With nothing better to do, he went to chat with the receptionist sisters, blowing off steam and bragging a bit, which was also a fine way to pass the time and get through the day.

”You’re really funny, hehe...”

The two receptionists, also new employees at the company, typically attended to guests. Taking Lin Zifeng for a customer on their first meeting, they chatted with him, and soon the topic shifted to other matters.

It’s no wonder; Lin Zifeng wasn’t wearing his security uniform today, but a suit and tie, which made him resemble a successful person.

The conversation was full of humor and laughter, light and engaging. After a few exchanges, Lin Zifeng hit it off with the two receptionist sisters. Even the male staff not far away couldn’t help shooting envious glances their way, especially when they saw Lin Zifeng laughing and playfully scolding them. This generated a sense of jealousy, envy, and resentment in them. They worked in the same office building, but rarely had a chance to interact like this.

There is, after all, a rule about not eating the grass around your burrow—it applies to them. They are the grass, and others are the rabbits.
