After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 799: Chapter 803 As if this person never existed in the world

Hearing her mention Luo Xiaoqian and Leng Zimo, Huangfu Ruo only frowned, ”Speaking of which, I still don’t understand, what exactly happened between those two, how could Xiao Qian just leave like that?”

”You’re asking us, but whom should we ask?” Shen Yizhou sighed, ”But it’s really strange to me, how Zimo loved Xiao Qian so much back in the day, and when Xiao Qian suddenly left, he didn’t react at all, as if that person never existed in this world.”

Huangfu Ruo let out a sigh, ”He... has already forgotten Xiao Qian.”

”What?!” Shen Yizhou and Tong Ya exclaimed in unison.

”I don’t know the specifics myself, but on one occasion when the three of us were dining with him, I accidentally mentioned Xiao Qian’s name. Qin Lan kept glaring at me then, but guess what he said.” Huangfu Ruo put down the cup in her hand, ”Brother Zimo calmly asked, ’Who is Xiao Qian?’”

”He... could he be pretending?” Tong Ya furrowed her brows.

”I thought the same at the time, but Qin Lan said no. Qin Lan told me that she had talked with Zimo, and it seemed like Brother Zimo really had forgotten Xiao Qian. Not just Xiao Qian, but also the house in World City, the farm he bought in Xiaoqu, and many other things—it’s as if he doesn’t remember them at all. Qin Lan also saw him taking painkillers and asked him what was wrong; he only mentioned a headache. Later, he actually told Qin Lan the truth, saying that he felt there was something wrong with his brain.”

Huangfu Ruo frowned and looked at Shen Yizhou, ”Brother Yizhou, have you ever heard of such medical cases?”

Shen Yizhou tapped the teacup he was holding with a finger, ”The human brain’s capacity for memory is limited. We can’t possibly remember every single thing, but Xiao Qian surely left a deep impression on Leng Zimo, one that can’t be easily forgotten. And, he doesn’t have any brain damage or the like, theoretically this kind of thing should be impossible, unless...”

”Unless what?” asked Huangfu Ruo anxiously.

”Unless he’s undergone a great trauma, similar to the saying ’Once bitten by a snake, one fears a well rope for ten years.’ Everyone has a self-protection function, and so does the brain. Under great emotional stress, the brain can activate a protective mechanism. I think, Zimo might not be able to accept Xiao Qian’s departure, which is why he’s shut down the memories related to Xiao Qian,” Shen Yizhou shrugged his shoulders, ”Of course, this is just a conjecture. After all, I’m not a specialist in this field; I’ve only audited classes on brain memory before.”

”Thinking about it, I really can’t understand, why two people who loved each other so much had to part ways?” Tong Ya said.

”The two of them must have had some major disagreements. Otherwise, Xiao Qian wouldn’t have just gone like that.”

”Ah, sometimes when I see Brother Zimo all alone, my heart really aches. Xiao Qian loved him so much, how could she bear to leave?!” Huangfu Ruo’s voice was already breaking with tears as she spoke.

”Ruoruo!” Tong Ya sat beside her, comfortingly placing a hand on her shoulder, ”After all, we’re not the ones involved. If it wasn’t for some compelling reason, Xiao Qian definitely wouldn’t have left. It’s been so many years since this happened, try not to think about it too much.”

”It’s just that... today is Wanwan’s birthday, and I couldn’t help remembering how Xiao Qian and I chatted back in France,” Huangfu Ruo sniffled, ”Back then, Xiao Qian was still pregnant. Where could she have gone?”

Listening to her voice, Tong Ya and Shen Yizhou remained silent too.
