After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 676: Chapter 680: Xu Pei’s Bitter Love Drama【2】

”It’s okay, I’m just going to sit for a bit. I’ll endure it; you go on with your work. I should head upstairs before Ruoruo starts to suspect something. It’s her big day tomorrow, and I don’t want her to worry about me.”

”Alright then, I’ll try to get back as soon as possible. Just remember to be extra careful and keep some distance from her,” Leng Zimo cautioned.

Luo Xiaoqian uttered an acknowledgment before hanging up the phone and turning to go upstairs.

As Luo Xiaoqian put away her phone and went upstairs, the maid had already brought up the freshly squeezed juice and coffee. She sat down in the chair farthest from Xu Pei, took the juice from the table, and sipped it sporadically while Xu Pei chatted with Huangfu Ruo about the wedding.

”Miss, the flowers needed for tomorrow have been delivered. Could you please come downstairs to sign for them?” A maid approached and said to Huangfu Ruo.

”Sure.” Huangfu Ruo set down her glass of juice, ”You two sit for a while; I’m going to check and will be right back. I’ll bring some snacks for you as well.”

”Shall I go with you?” Luo Xiaoqian stood up.

”No need. If you get an allergy to the pollen again, Brother Zimo will have my head,” Huangfu Ruo chuckled as she pressed her back into the chair. ”Don’t worry, I’ll take a quick look and be back up, and I’ll bring some pastries for you both as well.”

Luo Xiaoqian followed the maid downstairs, glancing at Xu Pei across from her. Holding her glass of juice, she stood up, intending to leave the terrace.

With Huangfu Ruo away, there was no need to keep up the act.

The sight of Xu Pei’s face was something she did not wish to see.

”What’s wrong? Feeling guilty in my presence?” From across the table, Xu Pei spoke in a mocking tone.

Feeling guilty?

The one who ought to feel guilty is her!

Luo Xiaoqian’s gaze fell on her composed face, and her grip on the glass of juice slowly tightened, ”I thought you didn’t know what feeling guilty meant!”

”Hmph!” Xu Pei scoffed, unconvinced. ”If you were upright and honest, what would you have to fear about me exposing you?”

”You...” The anger in Luo Xiaoqian surged instantly. She caught a glimpse of the staff bustling about downstairs for the wedding, took several deep breaths to calm herself down, and suppressed her rage, ”Xu Pei, right now, I don’t want to say anything to you. Please keep your distance, because I don’t want to disturb Ruoruo’s wedding.”

”How noble of you!” Xu Pei stood up, looking at her across the table. ”If it weren’t for Ruoruo’s wedding, do you think I’d want to see you? Climbing your way up using your body, and now trying to ascend further using a child, I really have to wonder whether you’re even certain if the child is Zimo’s!”

Whoosh!

Luo Xiaoqian’s hand flew up, and the juice in her grasp spilled out of the cup, splashing onto Xu Pei’s face.

It covered her face, her hair, her dress... In an instant, her entire appearance was stained with juice. Her hairstyle was wrecked, and the beautiful new dress she was wearing was spotted with yellow juice stains. It was as embarrassing as could be.

”You...” Xu Pei was totally unprepared for such an action. For a few seconds, she just stood there, stunned. It was some time before she regained her composure. ”Luo Xiaoqian, you...”

”Me? What about me? What do you want to say – that I’m over the top, that I’m despicable, that I’m conniving...” Luo Xiaoqian slammed the empty cup down onto the table, ”Xu Pei, let me tell you, all this is nothing compared to what you’ve done to me. This cup of juice is just a warning: don’t mistake my tolerance for timidity!”
