After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 673: Chapter 677: Huangfu Ruo, Who Fears Marriage【2】

Standing on the steps, Huangfu Ruo watched the two men’s cars gradually disappear before she finally withdrew her gaze.

”Qian, shall we go for a walk by the river?”

”Sure!” Luo Xiaoqian naturally wouldn’t refuse, and the two girls walked together towards the river.

Strolling along the shaded path by the river, Huangfu Ruo would occasionally bend down to pick up a pebble and throw it across the water, revealing her somewhat agitated mood.

”What’s wrong?” Seeing that she was in a bad mood, Luo Xiaoqian gently asked.

”Qian?” Huangfu Ruo turned her face with a delicate expression that was unusually solemn, ”I’m having second thoughts about getting married!”

Luo Xiaoqian was taken aback, ”Why?!”

”I...” Huangfu Ruo tossed the stone she had picked up into the water, ”I feel like Qin Lan doesn’t love me anymore.”

”How could that be? I saw the way he looks at you, and there is nothing in his eyes but love!” Luo Xiaoqian consoled, supporting her arm and pulling her to sit on a smooth rock, ”You’re overthinking it.”

”Really.” Huangfu Ruo looked despondently at the flowing river, ”In the past, when we were together, he used to share everything with me, but lately, since we’ve decided to get married, he’s become secretive. Several times he’s made phone calls behind my back, and as soon as he sees me, he either walks away or hangs up the call. I... I feel that he must have another woman!”

”No way, Qin Lan can’t possibly be that kind of irresponsible man,” Luo Xiaoqian said.

Although she didn’t have much contact with Qin Lan, she also heard some things from Leng Zimo. For someone like Qin Lan, if he wanted women, he could easily have his pick of them.

For years, he only had Huangfu Ruo by his side. No matter what event he attended, he always brought her along. For her, he even refused an invitation from a famous director in France, all because the film included an ambiguous love scene with another female actress.

Back when he got engaged to Huangfu Ruo, he expressed that, from that point on, he wouldn’t take on ambiguous roles anymore, and all kissing scenes would be simulated.

How could such a man do such a thing?

”What’s the point if he’s with me just out of obligation?” Huangfu Ruo irritably pulled off a piece of grass, ”Right now, I can’t tell whether he’s marrying me because I’m pregnant or because he really wants to live with me, grow old together. If it’s the former, I’d rather not have it.”

At first, Luo Xiaoqian thought Huangfu Ruo was joking, but seeing her speak so seriously, Luo Xiaoqian’s expression also turned solemn.

She could understand Huangfu Ruo’s thoughts; if Leng Zimo wanted to be with her, not out of love but just because of responsibility, she definitely wouldn’t accept such a marriage either.

”Have you asked him about it?”

”No.” Huangfu Ruo shook her head gently, ”Qin Lan isn’t one to lie, and I’m afraid, if it turns out to be the possibility I’m imagining, what should I do...”

That man, she had loved for five years, since she first met Qin Lan at the age of nineteen while visiting Leng Zimo on set, until now, at twenty-four, from a naive girl to a mother, that’s her entire youth.

”Do you still love him then?” Luo Xiaoqian asked.

”Of course, if all the people in the world were lined up, Qin Lan would be first, my brother second, and myself third,” Huangfu Ruo sighed, ”I heard men are most likely to cheat when their own woman is pregnant. Since I got pregnant...we’ve rarely...you know. He must be tired of my body...”
