Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

”...” Anne Sutton stared at the woman. For some reason, she looked vaguely familiar.

Seeing Anne Sutton staring at her, the woman snapped, ”You’re sick.”

Just then, David Hayes ran over. ”Sis.”

Anne Sutton looked at David Hayes. Although the Sutton family all disapproved, David was now legally married to Sharon Sutton. Even if Anne refused to acknowledge it, they were still family.

Anne Sutton glanced at him and gave a brief acknowledgment.

David Hayes asked, ”Aren’t you working today? What brings you to the company?”

He had just heard that Ethan Linden had come to the company and that Anne Sutton was with him, so he came looking for her.

David Hayes was just an ordinary employee at the company.

He had always considered himself quite talented.

But at the Fawcett Group, everyone was exceptionally brilliant. He may have been a top student in school, but here, he seemed utterly mediocre.

Now that he was with Sharon Sutton, and Anne Sutton was her older sister, it wasn’t impossible for him to get a promotion if he played his cards right and got on her good side.

Yvonne Evans, standing to the side, heard David Hayes call her ’Sis’ and asked, ”David Hayes, is this your sister?”

David Hayes looked at Yvonne Evans. Although Yvonne had only been at the company for two days, he’d heard people say she was parachuted in.

You have to understand, the Fawcett Group had always been extremely strict with its hiring.

The fact that she could get in proved her background was nothing to sneeze at, so no one dared to cross her.

Although they looked down on her behind her back, they were always deferential to her face.

As a result, Yvonne Evans had become even more arrogant at the company.

She didn’t give anyone the time of day.

She especially looked down on ordinary people like David Hayes.

Everyone in the department knew that David Hayes came from a poor family!

The rumor was he was from the countryside, from very humble beginnings. Getting into the company was just a case of dumb luck.

Now that she’d discovered Anne Sutton was David Hayes’s sister, she found Anne even more disagreeable.

Especially since this woman had brought a child to the company.

David Hayes nodded. ”Yes.”

He was actually being a bit smug when he said it.

He knew Yvonne Evans was arrogant, and this was a perfect opportunity to let her know he was acquainted with Anne Sutton and take her down a peg.

However...

Yvonne Evans had just arrived at the Fawcett Group; how could she possibly know the ins and outs of the place?

She had no idea that the woman before her was Anne Sutton, the one married to Nathan Fawcett, nor did she know that Anne had come to the company with Ethan Linden today.

Instead, because of her connection to him, she looked down on Anne Sutton even more.

Yvonne Evans said, ”Children aren’t allowed at the company. Your sister brought a kid here. Are you trying to get fired?”

David Hayes: ”...”

He was a bit stunned, looking at Yvonne Evans in confusion. He felt as if this woman’s sheer idiocy was stupefying.

Anne Sutton looked at Yvonne Evans and said, ”I’d like to know how someone like you ended up at the Fawcett Group! You just bumped into my son. Shouldn’t you apologize to him?”

Ian stood to the side, watching Yvonne Evans.

Yvonne Evans retorted, ”You’re the one who wasn’t watching your child, and you’re blaming me? You want me to apologize? Who do you think you are? You should take a good look at yourself.”

”Mommy, this lady is so mean!” Ian said.

Anne Sutton said, ”Yes, she is very mean.”

Anne Sutton wasn’t one to make a fuss. Normally, Yvonne bumping into Ian and apologizing would have been a small matter, but Anne couldn’t stand by and watch her be so arrogant.

Hearing the mother and son ganging up on her, Yvonne Evans said angrily, ”How dare you! Do you know who I am?”

”And who are you?” Anne Sutton asked curiously.

Yvonne Evans said, ”Do you know whose name is on this company?”

”Whose?” Anne Sutton asked.

Yvonne Evans said, ”The Fawcett Group, of course. The name is Fawcett.”

”What, is your last name Fawcett too?”

Anne Sutton would have recognized anyone from the Fawcett family.

This woman before her clearly had no class. She was arrogant and reckless—not at all like one of them.

Even if such a person did exist, she had to get to the bottom of it, lest someone like this tarnish the company’s image.

Yvonne Evans said, ”My last name isn’t Fawcett, but my sister is Mrs. Fawcett! She married into the Fawcett family. Offend me, and you offend her. Don’t tell me you’ve never heard of my sister’s name. It’s Anne Sutton.”

”What did you say?” Hearing this, Anne Sutton was stunned by Yvonne Evans’s words.

’Sister? Since when did I have a younger sister like her?’

David Hayes, standing to the side, was also astonished!

’Holy cow!’

’Her sister is Anne Sutton, but she doesn’t even recognize her own sister standing right in front of her?’

”Yvonne Evans, are you crazy?” David Hayes said. ”You say your sister is Anne Sutton, but do you have any idea who this is?”

Yvonne Evans said, ”I don’t care who she is! Anyway, you’re both dead meat today! I’m going to file a complaint against you, David Hayes. Just wait until you’re fired.”

Hearing the name Yvonne Evans, Anne Sutton froze for a moment. She remembered going to her father’s office a few days ago and hearing them mention a ”Yvonne.” So that meant...

’This woman is Yvonne Evans, the person her father schemed to get into the company?’

’That was one thing, but was this wretched girl also running around bullying people in her name?’

’What would other people think of her?’

’Wouldn’t people who didn’t know any better actually believe she was the one who got Yvonne the job?’

David Hayes looked at Anne Sutton and asked, ”Sis, you really know her?”

Anne Sutton said, ”I know who she is now!”

’She’s my father’s illegitimate daughter!’

Anne Sutton had never imagined that after she decided to pretend this never happened to keep her mother from being heartbroken, Yvonne Evans would one day show up right in front of her!

’It’s really a small world for enemies!’

’There was no escaping it.’

’But...’

’Since Yvonne Evans dared to run rampant in the company using my name, did that mean my father had used my influence to get Yvonne the job?’

’Had he gone too far?’

David Hayes looked at Anne Sutton.

Anne Sutton’s face darkened. ”I’m leaving.”

She picked Ian up and walked away.

Seeing Anne Sutton scurry away with her tail between her legs, Yvonne Evans’s gaze fell on David Hayes. ”Your sister’s gone. Aren’t you leaving too?”

”You said Anne Sutton is your sister. That woman just now was Anne Sutton. You didn’t recognize her?”

Yvonne Evans: ”...You’re saying she was Anne Sutton?”

’So that was her father’s daughter...’

’The big sucker who married into the Fawcett family?’

Seeing her completely baffled expression, David Hayes said, ”You’re a real piece of work.”

With that, he left!

...

After taking Ian to see the models, Anne Sutton returned to Nathan Fawcett’s office. Nathan was busy, but the butler was there. Seeing Anne, he said, ”Ma’am.”

”I need you to look into someone for me.”

The butler asked, ”Who would that be?”

Anne Sutton said, ”There’s someone in the company named Yvonne Evans. A recent hire. Find out who got her in! And... fire her. I don’t want to see her again.”

Hearing Anne Sutton’s words, the butler asked, ”Did she do something to displease you, Ma’am?”

He could tell from her terrible expression that her mood had been soured.
