Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

Nathan Fawcett looked up, noted Anne Sutton’s cautious expression, and said, ”I have annual check-ups. I’m fine.”

Anne Sutton said, ”Dr. Linden is truly amazing.”

The hospital had practically given him a death sentence, yet Anna Linden still managed to save him.

’Though the way he lied to himself every day was exasperating...’

’But Nathan Fawcett was back, and that was a good thing!’

Nathan Fawcett looked at Anne Sutton. Seeing her looking so preoccupied, he asked, ”Are you disappointed that I’m alive?”

”How could I be?” Anne Sutton said. ”I’m very happy to see you alive.”

”If I’m alive, you can’t be involved with other men anymore.”

After all, they were still legally husband and wife.

As long as he wasn’t dead, their marriage hadn’t ended.

Listening to Nathan Fawcett’s words, Anne Sutton thought, ’He’s right. I was only with him before for the Fawcett Family’s assets.’

’Back then, all I thought was that if Nathan Fawcett died, I could inherit everything from the Fawcett Family.’

’However...’

’As it turned out, even after he was gone, I didn’t get any of it.’

’I couldn’t even save our child.’

’It’s just...’

’Now, not only is he not dead, he’s come back alive. Doesn’t that mean our marriage will have to continue indefinitely?’

Anne Sutton was a little stunned by Nathan Fawcett’s words. She stared at him, unable to snap out of her daze for a long while.

’My mother was just trying to get me to go on blind dates and be with someone else.’

’Now that I think about it...’

’No wonder this man never allowed me to find someone else!’

’So in his eyes, I’m still his wife!’

Anne Sutton said, ”I wasn’t planning on finding someone else anyway.”

”Is that so? You seemed pretty happy calling out ’Justin’ this and ’Justin’ that.”

”That’s because I thought you were dead,” Anne Sutton said. ”You can’t expect me not to be with anyone else after you died! Besides, you disappeared for nearly four years without a trace. Why couldn’t I find someone else? Have you ever thought about how hard it was for me, all alone in the Fawcett Family?”

These had been the hardest years of her life.

But she had never once thought of giving up!

’And now I have to listen to him mock me.’

When she was alone, she hadn’t felt it so keenly, but now that she was talking to him about it, a torrent of grievances surged up inside her.

Nathan Fawcett said, ”Wasn’t I trying to grant your wish? Be with whoever you want to be with! That way I don’t have to show up and annoy you.”

Anne Sutton retorted, ”Then why did you object when I was going to be with Justin Shields?”

Nathan Fawcett snorted coldly. ”If you want to be with him now, you can go find him. I won’t stop you.”

”Really?” Anne Sutton stared into his eyes and asked curiously.

Nathan Fawcett shot her a glare. ”Go on!”

He was obviously saying the opposite of what he meant.

Even before revealing his identity, he hadn’t allowed her to have anyone else by her side, let alone now that he had revealed who he was.

Anne Sutton could already imagine that if she actually went to find someone else, Nathan Fawcett would probably break her legs.

She looked at Nathan Fawcett, reached out, and took his hand. Her voice was gentle. ”Nathan, I won’t look for anyone else from now on. I’ll stay by your side and I won’t go anywhere! I don’t like other people. I only want to be with you.”

”...” Her sudden declaration left Nathan Fawcett stunned.

Anne Sutton’s hand was cool and her fingers were slender. As she held his hand and spoke, she was exceptionally gentle.

Nathan Fawcett had many grievances with her:

Her being with other men;

Her failure to save his child;

And even her ambiguous relationships with Charles Prescott and Justin Shields!

But hearing her words now, he suddenly felt that he could forgive everything she had done before, as long as she was willing to be with him.

’In any case, both he and Ian really need her.’

Anne Sutton didn’t know what came over her to suddenly say such things.

They had only gotten together because of a contract; she could probably still find the agreement they had signed back then.

But with Nathan Fawcett sitting in front of her now, she felt an incredible sense of security.

’I really do want to stay by his side forever!’

Seeing him silent, she looked up at him. ”It’s just... you’re Ethan Linden now, the Head of the Linden Family. Your mother probably doesn’t like me very much. Will being with me put a lot of pressure on you? Will she look down on me?”

She knew that she was not worthy of him in any way.

Back when he was still Nathan Fawcett—unwell and ill-tempered—she had been able to marry him.

Now he was the Mr. Linden that every woman wanted to marry...

’It’s a bit shameless of me to say I want to be with him!’

Nathan Fawcett put down his book and said, ”What, if I look down on you, you’ll leave?”

”I won’t,” Anne Sutton said. ”I’m not leaving! I’m staying right by your side.”

’I know he’ll get upset again if I say I’m leaving.’

’I don’t want to do anything to make him unhappy again.’

Anne Sutton lay down and hugged Nathan Fawcett. Resting her head on the pillow, she gazed at the man beside her and realized he had gotten much more handsome.

Before, being with him had been a daily source of anxiety. The moment Stella Shields appeared, she’d instantly felt like the other woman.

But now, knowing this man belonged to her, she was no longer so insecure.

Nathan Fawcett didn’t mind her. If she wanted to hug him, he let her.

He had no one else around him; it had always been just her...

He was actually happy that she wanted to hold him.

He only ever got angry when she talked about leaving.

Lying next to Nathan Fawcett, now that he was *Nathan Fawcett* to her again, she suddenly felt much closer, and it seemed there were many more things she wanted to say.

”Oh, right!” Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett and said, ”If everyone at the company finds out you’re Nathan Fawcett, wouldn’t that mean Charles Prescott and the others don’t stand a chance?”

’No wonder he was able to produce Nathan Fawcett’s power of attorney before.’

’No wonder he could kick Charles Prescott out so easily!’

At this thought, Anne Sutton felt a glimmer of hope. ”Charles Prescott is still trying to find ways to suppress you. If he finds out who you really are, he’ll probably die of anger.”

If he were just Ethan Linden, they could still use other excuses to attack him and stop him from inheriting the Fawcett Group.

But Nathan Fawcett was the rightful heir.

They had no right whatsoever to compete with Nathan Fawcett.

Nathan Fawcett watched Anne Sutton, sensing her good mood. She had the smug air of a cat that had gotten the cream.

He said, ”Feeling happy?”

Anne Sutton said, ”Of course.”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”I wonder who it was that wanted to marry Charles Prescott.”

”...” Anne Sutton said, ”I was just trying not to drag you down back then. I didn’t know the truth!”

Speaking of which, Anne Sutton glared at him. ”You’re infuriating... If you had just been clear with me from the beginning, I wouldn’t have been so miserable.”

He had no idea how much she had agonized.

Nathan Fawcett said, ”If I wasn’t afraid you’d disgrace me, I wouldn’t have stopped you.”

’He would never admit that he cared about her!’

’That heartless woman!’
