Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

The thought that she couldn’t even live in the Fawcett family home anymore, all because of Anne Sutton, left her exasperated.

She wanted nothing more than to take her anger out on Sean Sutton!

Sean Sutton said politely, ”Hello, Mrs. Prescott.”

”Hmph,” Mrs. Prescott said. ”What are you doing here? How dare you show your face? That shameless daughter of yours is messing around with Ethan Linden, and she even got us kicked out of the Fawcett family home!”

All Sean Sutton had heard before was that Charles Prescott and his family had moved out on their own accord.

But now, hearing Mrs. Prescott’s words, he realized they had actually been kicked out by Nathan Fawcett.

’No matter what, Charles Prescott is the patriarch’s adopted son. How could Nathan Fawcett be so ruthless?’

’I just hope he never finds out what happened back then, or I’ll be in for it too.’

Sean Sutton said, ”I don’t know anything about that. I just came today to see Charles about something.”

”Why would our Charles have time to see you?” Mrs. Prescott said dismissively. ”If you need something, why don’t you go to your daughter instead of coming to our Charles?”

She spoke in a sarcastic tone; she couldn’t stand the sight of anyone from the Sutton family right now.

Charles Prescott walked down from upstairs.

Since he was at home, he was only wearing a white dress shirt. He looked at Sean Sutton with a cold expression and asked, ”What are you doing here?”

Sean Sutton said, ”I have a small matter I was hoping you could help me with.”

Leo, holding his Jingu Bang, poked it in front of Charles Prescott. ”Daddy, carry me.”

Charles Prescott frowned, looking at his foolish son. He had no patience for children. Even though Leo lived here, he was looked after by the maids.

Charles Prescott called a maid over to take Leo away, then sat down to the side.

Seeing Sean Sutton’s fawning expression, he said, ”If you need something, why come to me? Go find Anne Sutton. She and Ethan Linden are thick as thieves now! Even I have to tread carefully around her.”

Sean Sutton said, ”My friend’s daughter wants to work at the Fawcett Group. Charles, could you see if you can pull some strings?”

Hearing this, Charles Prescott retorted, ”You’re bothering me with something like this? What kind of friend? The Fawcett Group doesn’t just hire anyone!”

He might be a scumbag in his personal life, but he had always been very responsible when it came to the company.

The Fawcett Group’s strict hiring process was also his doing.

He didn’t want the company to be full of freeloaders.

Getting in through connections was basically impossible.

Sean Sutton said, ”Charles, just figure something out! As long as she gets in, any random job will do.”

Charles Prescott said, ”I told you, I can’t agree to something like this, and I won’t help you.”

Sean Sutton clenched his fists. ”If that’s how it is, then I’ll just have to go to Ethan Linden!”

At these words, Charles Prescott’s gaze sharpened. He remembered the business with the child back then; Sean Sutton knew everything.

’If Ethan Linden finds out I got rid of Nathan Fawcett’s child, there’s no telling what kind of trouble he’ll cause for me.’

Charles Prescott sat on the sofa, lit a cigarette, and narrowed his eyes. ”What,” he said coldly, ”are you threatening me, Mr. Sutton?”

”I cooperated with you back then, but you never delivered on your promise. You didn’t marry Anne, which is why my daughter and I have had a bad relationship ever since. If you won’t agree to this, what other choice do I have but to go to Ethan Linden?”

’It’s not like I want to do this!’

But if he didn’t handle things with Yvonne, that woman would go and make a scene in front of Mrs. Sutton.

If she caused a scene at the hospital, it would be bad for everyone.

Anne Sutton was very protective of her mother, and now she had Nathan Fawcett backing her. He couldn’t just ignore her.

His only option was to find a way to get Yvonne into the Fawcett Group.

’After all, with a little effort, something like this is still doable.’

Charles Prescott looked at Sean Sutton and said, ”I can help you. But... if you ever bring this up again, I’ll make you regret it.”

’Being kicked out of the Fawcett family home was already humiliating enough.’

’And now even Sean Sutton dared to show up and threaten him!’

’He couldn’t just swallow this insult.’

Sean Sutton said ingratiatingly, ”Don’t worry! I have no intention of bringing it up. Didn’t I keep my mouth shut even when Anne begged me? I know the stakes.”

Charles Prescott said, ”Send her information to Henry Underwood later. He’ll arrange it.”

Sean Sutton nodded.

Charles Prescott sat to the side, watching Sean Sutton. ”For you to be this concerned,” he said, ”she must be more than just a friend’s daughter, right?”

”...” Sean Sutton said, ”Just a friend.”

”An illegitimate daughter?” Charles Prescott’s eyes darkened.

Sean Sutton denied it. ”No, no.”

”It’s not like I don’t know your business,” Charles Prescott said. ”Who are you trying to fool? I’m warning you, just keep this matter to yourself. If it blows up and her mother finds out, Anne won’t let you get away with it.”

For some reason, thinking about how Anne Sutton would react if she found out, Charles Prescott couldn’t help but give Sean Sutton this warning.

He had known Anne Sutton for a long time and knew that she cared most about her family.

If she found out her father was treating an illegitimate daughter so well, she would definitely be heartbroken.

Sean Sutton nodded awkwardly, not daring to tell Charles Prescott that Anne Sutton already knew.

’Considering her mother’s health, Anne Sutton probably wouldn’t expose this.’

Soon, Sean Sutton left.

Charles Prescott sat on the sofa, took out his phone, and opened his messages. He saw Anne Sutton’s profile picture. ’I wonder how she’s doing.’

...

As it happened, he needed to go back to the Fawcett family home to get some things today.

They hadn’t taken much when they moved out of the Fawcett home last time, so some of their belongings were still there.

After visiting her mother at the hospital, Anne Sutton returned to the Fawcett family home, planning to use her free time to cook something for Ian and bring it to him.

Just as she arrived at the gate, she saw Charles Prescott was there too.

The security guard at the gate was inspecting his car.

Anne Sutton had no choice but to pull up behind him.

After a rather long inspection, his car was still blocking the entrance.

Anne Sutton got out of her car and asked, ”What’s going on?”

’This hold-up is so annoying.’

Charles Prescott opened his car door, got out, and glanced at Anne Sutton. ”I want to go in and get something, but they won’t let me. How about you call Ethan Linden and let him know.”

Anne Sutton: ”...”

The security guard saw Anne Sutton and said, ”Ma’am.”

Ever since Charles Prescott’s family had been kicked out, Nathan Fawcett had replaced the entire staff, both inside and out.

The new staff answered only to Nathan Fawcett and Anne Sutton. Anyone else who wanted to enter needed permission—not even Charles Prescott could come and go as he pleased.

Although she sometimes found Nathan Fawcett disagreeable, this particular action made Anne Sutton quite happy.

’After all, when Charles Prescott lived here before, he really had treated the place like it was his own home!’

’He even wanted to kick me out.’

’He probably never imagined a day like this would come!’

Anne Sutton said to Charles Prescott, ”Didn’t you move all your things out? What could you possibly still have here?”
