Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

Justin Shields had no choice but to sit down first and get to business.

He glanced at Stella Shields and said, ”Stella, come sit down.”

Stella Shields walked over, looked at Nathan Fawcett, and asked in disbelief, ”You replaced me as the female lead in *Evening Face*?”

Nathan Fawcett looked up at her and said calmly, ”You have plenty of resources. You’re not short on this one.”

Stella Shields said, ”But I care a lot about this one. I can give up the others. You know perfectly well how important this is to me!”

Although she’d become very popular since her debut, many claimed she only got ahead through her connections, earning her a lot of anti-fans.

She desperately needed a respectable project to solidify her status.

Nathan Fawcett stared into her eyes and asked, ”What did you say in front of Anne Sutton?”

Stella Shields stiffened and said to Nathan Fawcett, ”You’re unhappy because of her?”

Nathan Fawcett raised an eyebrow. ”What’s between her and me has nothing to do with you. How things are between us is my business. I told you not to run your mouth in front of her.”

”I thought...” Stella Shields looked at him and said, ”I thought you just didn’t want her to know your secret. Everything I did was because I care about you, have you forgotten? How did she treat you back then? While you were having surgery, she was with Charles Prescott and wouldn’t even keep the baby.”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”No matter what kind of person she is, I have the right to blame her. You don’t.”

Stella Shields stared at Nathan Fawcett. ’He’s never admitted it, but he has forgiven Anne Sutton.’

’But now, it’s so obvious he’s protecting her!’

’He can’t even be bothered to hide it anymore.’

Stella Shields said, ”I really don’t know what good deeds she did in a past life for you to still be protecting her.”

”Stella!” Justin Shields shot her a look, reminding her not to cross a line.

Stella Shields said, ”Fine! I won’t say anything more. Do whatever you want! It’s all my fault.”

Justin Shields glanced at Stella Shields, then looked at Nathan Fawcett and said, ”Stella is being insensible. I’ve already spoken to her! She’s just worried about you and sees you as family, that’s why she’s so invested in your affairs. Don’t be angry with her.”

Nathan Fawcett, sitting to the side, said to Justin Shields, ”I’m not holding it against her.”

’For Ethan’s sake, he wouldn’t hold it against her.’

’Otherwise, he would have pulled more than just one show.’

Justin Shields said, ”Then, about replacing the female lead...”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”That matter is already decided.”

He glanced at Stella Shields. Even though she had come to apologize, he clearly wanted to teach her a lesson.

Hearing Nathan Fawcett’s words, Stella Shields clenched her fists tightly. She stared at him, never having expected that he would actually punish her like this.

’A great show she had lined up was gone just like that, all because of Anne Sutton?’

...

In the room, Anne Sutton was with Ian as he sat up.

Anne Sutton asked, ”What’s wrong?”

Ian said, ”I forgot to bring my schoolbag up. The book you gave me is still inside.”

Anne Sutton had given it to him for his birthday. He loved it, so he took it everywhere with him.

Anne Sutton glanced at the silly boy and said, ”I’ll go get it for you.”

With that, she stood up and went downstairs.

She was still at the top of the stairs when she heard the voices of Nathan Fawcett and the Shields siblings.

Anne Sutton really didn’t want to see Stella Shields, but Ian’s schoolbag was probably on the sofa. She was hesitating on how to go out when she heard Justin Shields speak.

Justin Shields glanced at Stella Shields, who was sitting on the sofa with a displeased look on her face. He spoke diplomatically to Nathan Fawcett, ”The female lead for *Evening Face* has been set as Stella all this time. If we change it to someone else now, won’t it affect the project’s progress?”

After all, they had both invested money, and it was a major S+-tier project, so Justin Shields was quite concerned about it.

He actually wanted to persuade Nathan Fawcett to change his mind, especially since Stella Shields had already come to apologize.

Nathan Fawcett said, ”I don’t care.”

Justin Shields clicked his tongue. ’As expected of Nathan Fawcett. Now that he has the Linden Family behind him, he really doesn’t care about a single project. An investment of several hundred million is nothing to him. But for the Shields Group, it’s a significant loss.’

Justin Shields smiled. ”When you get angry, you don’t even care about a few hundred million. But it’s also clear that you really do care about Anne Sutton.”

Hearing her name, Anne Sutton froze. ’Justin Shields actually mentioned me, and then brought up Stella Shields’s show...’

’From the sound of it, could it be that Ethan was the one who replaced the female lead?’

’Why would he do something like that out of the blue?’

’Could it be because of me?’

Nathan Fawcett didn’t deny it.

’He used to say he didn’t like me and would try to distance himself, but not anymore.’

Justin Shields said, ”Nathan, how about this? I’ll have Stella go apologize to Anne. We’re all family, let’s not make things like this. Just do it for Ethan’s sake, okay?”

He brought up Ethan, hoping that Nathan Fawcett would give the role back to Stella Shields for Ethan’s sake.

After all, Stella Shields would be heartbroken to lose this role.

She had done a lot of preparation for this role recently.

Anne Sutton stood frozen, stunned by Justin Shields’s words. ’Nathan?’

’Nathan!’

’Why would Justin Shields call him that?’

’At first, she thought it must have been a slip of the tongue. But after hearing his whole sentence, she realized he’d said it deliberately.’

Hearing her brother’s words, Stella Shields protested, ”I’m not going to apologize to her! When Nathan was in the hospital, she aborted his baby. Even if Nathan has forgiven what she did, I never will. I’d rather give up this lead role than apologize to her.”

The more Nathan Fawcett protected Anne Sutton, the more Stella couldn’t stand the sight of her.

’Apologize to her? I’d rather die!’

Anne Sutton stood on the spot, feeling as if her blood ran cold.

’This is...’

’What is happening?’

’Even Stella Shields is calling him Nathan...’

Justin Shields looked at his sister and said, ”Stella!”

Stella Shields stood up. ”I’m heading back.”

She couldn’t be bothered to deal with Nathan Fawcett’s attitude any longer and ran straight out.

Justin Shields glanced at Nathan Fawcett and said, ”Nathan, my sister... she’s been spoiled by our family. I hope you won’t hold it against her.”

They kept talking, and with every word, the suspicion in Anne Sutton’s heart grew stronger.

’So...’

’This man isn’t Ethan Linden, but Nathan Fawcett?’

’He’s Nathan Fawcett, the man I’ve been longing for all this time?’

”Ma’am!”

Just then, the housekeeper’s voice sounded from behind her.

Anne Sutton turned around and saw the housekeeper standing there. The woman stared at Anne, her face filled with concern when she saw the shocked expression on her face. ”Are you all right?”

Nathan Fawcett and Justin Shields were still in the living room. Knowing she had been discovered, Anne Sutton walked out.

She looked at the two men sitting on the sofa and saw that both Nathan Fawcett and Justin Shields were staring at her.

Anne Sutton looked at Justin Shields and asked, ”What did you just call him? Did you call him Nathan? He’s Nathan Fawcett, isn’t he?”
