Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

At the Shields residence, Mrs. Shields looked at Stella Shields and asked, ”Didn’t you say Ethan Linden was coming over today?”

”He said he would!” Stella Shields replied. ”Something probably came up and delayed him!”

Mrs. Shields said to Stella, ”His mother likes you so much. It should be easy for you to marry into the Linden Family in the future, right?”

She had been furious the last time she heard that Ethan Linden was with Anne Sutton.

After all, her daughter was supposed to be the Linden Family’s future daughter-in-law. What right did Anne Sutton have to ruin everything?

’She’s a widow, and she still wants to marry Ethan Linden? That’s so unfair!’

However, hearing that Ethan Linden was coming to her birthday party today, she thought that her daughter’s chances with him were still very high.

Besides, Ethan Linden’s mother was also very fond of their Stella!

’No matter how you look at it, Stella is so much better than Anne Sutton!’

Stella Shields glanced at her mother, recalling what Nathan Fawcett had told her before. If it weren’t for her connection to Ethan Linden, he wouldn’t even give her a second look.

...

She had never imagined it. She had once grown close to him because of her connection to Ethan Linden, but now, that same connection was the reason he was shutting her out.

But...

’If I didn’t have this connection to Ethan Linden, would he have liked me for me?’

’After all, he doesn’t like Anne Sutton either.’

...

When Nathan Fawcett and Anne Sutton arrived at the Shields residence, it was already crowded, with many cars parked at the entrance.

With Nathan Fawcett’s support over the past few years, the Shields Family’s business had flourished, and their status in Westhaven had risen accordingly.

Even many famous celebrities from the entertainment industry wanted to curry favor with them.

Mrs. Shields’ birthday was an opportunity no one wanted to miss.

What’s more, rumor had it that Ethan Linden would also be here today!

This was Ethan Linden they were talking about!

The Linden Family had always maintained a mysterious and low-key public image.

However, the reputation of the Linden Group was something everyone admired but felt was beyond their reach.

Since they heard Stella Shields was bound to marry into the Linden Family sooner or later, everyone was eager to build a good relationship with them in advance.

’If we come today, we might even get to speak with Ethan Linden!’

Justin Shields was busy greeting guests.

A few people gathered around him and said, ”Justin, is Mr. Linden really coming today?”

Justin Shields replied, ”He should be.”

”Once your sister marries into the Linden Family, who in the entire entertainment industry will be able to compare to the Shields Family?”

Justin Shields raised the corners of his mouth at the compliment, but he couldn’t bring himself to smile inwardly.

Although everyone in the family desperately hoped Stella could be with Ethan Linden, he always felt the chances were slim.

Especially Nathan Fawcett...

’His personality is different from the old Ethan Linden. Ethan was gentler, whereas Nathan Fawcett is much colder.’

’What’s more, he and I don’t share the camaraderie we had as classmates anymore, and he has no real connection to Stella.’

’And he has a child with Anne Sutton.’

’Why would he marry Stella?’

Justin Shields said, ”They aren’t getting together. You’re overthinking it.”

”How could that be?” The group didn’t believe Justin Shields, assuming he was just being modest. ”Don’t be so humble! We heard Stella and Mr. Linden have a son together! With a young master in the picture, she can marry into the Linden Family whenever she wants, can’t she?”

Justin Shields’s lips twitched, unable to force a smile.

That was the rumor circulating among everyone now.

’If one day, it turns out that Nathan Fawcett doesn’t end up with Stella, and Anne Sutton is by his side instead, Stella will become a laughingstock when everyone finds out.’

’At that point...’

’How will she handle the fallout?’

’And she’s such a proud person, too!’

Just then, the butler came over and whispered to Justin Shields, ”Young Master, Mr. Linden is here!”

Hearing this, Justin Shields excused himself from the group and went outside.

Nathan Fawcett’s car was parked at the entrance. As he got out, Justin Shields walked over. ”Ethan.”

He always addressed Nathan Fawcett this way in public.

Others, hearing they were former classmates, were all quite impressed with him.

Stella Shields had also heard that Nathan Fawcett was coming, so she had followed her brother outside.

Seeing Nathan Fawcett, she also said sweetly, ”Ethan.”

When the arriving guests saw the siblings greeting Nathan Fawcett, they all understood who he was. So this was the Head of the Linden Family, Ethan Linden!

They had only known that his family was rich and that he was capable, but they never expected him to be so handsome in person.

The actresses among them couldn’t help but feel a pang of envy toward Stella Shields!

’She really has it good.’

’To be able to find a man who is so outstanding in both looks and status!’

Nathan Fawcett looked at the Shields siblings without a word and lifted Ian out of the car.

Stella Shields walked over with a smile and said, ”Ian, come here, let me hold you.”

But when Ian saw Stella Shields, he just coldly turned his face away, clearly not wanting her to hold him.

He used to like her, but after spending time with her a few days ago, she had been mean to him, and he didn’t want anything to do with her anymore.

He might be little, but he held a grudge.

Rebuffed, Stella Shields forced a smile and said to Nathan Fawcett, ”Let’s go inside.”

Nathan Fawcett glanced at her, then turned back and said to the person still in the car, ”Aren’t you getting out?”

Anne Sutton sat in the car, speechless. She hadn’t expected so many people to be at the Shields’ house!

At that moment, she was starting to regret coming with Nathan Fawcett!

Seeing him waiting for her, Anne Sutton could only bite the bullet and get out of the car.

As she was getting out, Nathan Fawcett even extended a hand to help her.

She glanced at the hand the man had deliberately offered and stiffened. But she knew that if she didn’t play along right now, he would get angry again.

She reached out, placed her hand on Nathan Fawcett’s, and stepped out of the car.

Before she got out, everyone had assumed that Nathan Fawcett and Stella Shields were a couple and that he had come for her.

However, when they saw Anne Sutton, everyone was stunned.

’What’s going on?’

’Isn’t Stella Shields supposed to have a child with Ethan Linden? Isn’t she going to marry into the Linden Family?’

’Who is this woman with Ethan Linden now?’

Stella Shields was also shocked when she saw Anne Sutton.

The last time she had seen Anne Sutton, Anne rarely dressed up and wore very plain clothes. But because she was attending a formal event today, she had changed into an elegant dress and put on makeup, looking instantly and breathtakingly beautiful.

Even though Stella Shields was a huge star, at this moment, Anne Sutton, a complete unknown, was in no way inferior to her in comparison.

Stella Shields never imagined that Nathan Fawcett would bring Anne Sutton with him to her mother’s birthday party.

She had asked him to come specifically to back her up and boost her image.

She looked at Anne Sutton, her expression strained. But with so many people around, she couldn’t possibly make a scene on the spot.

Standing beside Nathan Fawcett, Anne Sutton glanced at Stella Shields. Seeing that her appearance had made Stella’s face turn thunderous, she couldn’t help but feel amused.

She had been regretting coming here, but now, seeing Stella’s reaction, she couldn’t help but feel a little happy.

After all, Stella Shields had started it!

First, Stella Shields had deceived her. Then, Mrs. Shields had gone to her mother and said all sorts of nonsense, damaging their relationship. To this day, her mother was still unwilling to see her.
