Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

Anne Sutton was stunned, caught off guard by Chloe Chase’s question.

’Do I love him?’

When it came to Nathan Fawcett, she truly lacked the confidence to say she loved him.

After all, she knew Nathan Fawcett didn’t love her.

’His feelings for me are probably more possessive than anything else.’

Seeing her hesitation, Chloe Chase laughed. ”It seems Ms. Sutton already has an answer in her heart. You don’t love him.”

”...” Anne Sutton lowered her head and said, ”We’re all adults. Is love really that important?”

Hearing this, Chloe Chase replied, ”Actually, I know exactly why you want to be with Nathan Fawcett right now. You need Nathan to help you get revenge on the Prescott Family. Without him, you can’t do anything. That’s why you want him to stay here.”

”...” Anne Sutton didn’t deny it.

She admitted that was indeed what she hoped for.

Chloe Chase said, ”Everything the Fawcett Family has is just a drop in the ocean compared to the Linden Conglomerate. Honestly, the Fawcett Group isn’t important to Nathan. And since you don’t love him, surely you wouldn’t be so selfish as to make him lose his position as the Head of the Linden Family just for your own personal gain, would you?”

Anne Sutton was taken aback. ”Hasn’t he already inherited from the Linden Family?”

”The true heir of the Linden Family is his mother. He’s only managing the Linden Group on her behalf. If he truly angers Dr. Linden, it’s not impossible for him to lose his position as head of the family.”

Anne Sutton asked, ”What do you want me to do, telling me all this? Do you also think he shouldn’t take back everything from the Fawcett Family?”

Chloe Chase looked at her. ”I didn’t say that, and Dr. Linden isn’t angry about this. If you really want everything the Fawcett Family has, Nathan can get it back for you. I just came to remind you that once the Fawcett Family’s affairs are settled, Nathan will have to return to the Linden Family. He won’t be with you! Unless you think he’d abandon everything to come be by your side. But... do you really think he’s the type to throw everything away for love?”

Anne Sutton said, ”I know he’s not.”

”As long as you know.” Chloe Chase smiled. ”So, I hope Ms. Sutton can be a little more clear-headed. Your relationship with Nathan Fawcett ended years ago. If he hadn’t been taken in by the Linden Family, he would be dead. The man standing before you now is just Ethan Linden. I hope you don’t forget that! Even if he once was Nathan Fawcett, he can never go back to being him.”

”...” Anne Sutton listened to Chloe Chase’s words without speaking.

She didn’t know what to make of Nathan Fawcett’s situation.

’But from a rational perspective, it would indeed be unfair to ask him to give up everything the Linden Family has to offer.’

’Besides, in the past few years with Anna Linden, his life seems to have been much better than it was with the Fawcett Family.’

Chloe Chase drove Anne Sutton back to the Fawcett residence.

She parked the car at the gate and said to Anne Sutton, ”You can get out here, Ms. Sutton.”

Anne Sutton asked, ”Aren’t you coming in?”

Chloe Chase said, ”I still have some things to do.”

She was here on behalf of Anna Linden.

She still had to make a trip to the Shields Family to see Stella Shields.

Hearing her words, Anne Sutton got out of the car.

Anne Sutton waited until Chloe Chase’s car had driven away before walking through the gate.

Nathan Fawcett was already home.

Ian was gardening in the nearby garden, and Nathan Fawcett was with him.

Ian was wearing rain boots and was very focused on his work.

Anne Sutton stood to the side, watching them.

Nathan Fawcett looked up, glanced at Anne Sutton, and said, ”You’re back?”

Since Anne Sutton got off work late, Nathan Fawcett was already home.

Charles Prescott was managing the Fawcett Group now, so Nathan Fawcett didn’t have as much to do every day.

When Anne Sutton saw him looking at her, she nodded. ”Mhm.”

Ian said to Anne Sutton, ”Mommy, come see the flowers I planted! Aren’t they pretty?”

Anne Sutton stood nearby, looking at the seedlings he had just planted. ”You did a great job, Ian.”

Ian said, ”When they bloom, I’ll give them to you.”

Anne Sutton’s lips curved into a smile. She glanced at Nathan Fawcett and asked, ”Have you two eaten yet?”

”No,” Nathan Fawcett said. ”We were waiting for you.”

Anne Sutton sighed. ”I really don’t know what you two will do when I’m not around for you and Ian.”

’This father-son duo just can’t stand to see me have a moment’s peace. They only like my cooking, and no one else can replicate the taste.’

Hearing her words, Nathan Fawcett stared into her eyes and asked, ”If you’re not with me and Ian, where do you plan on going?”

Anne Sutton avoided his gaze, didn’t answer his question, and walked into the house.

...

Nathan Fawcett first took Ian to wash his hands, change his clothes and shoes, and get cleaned up before coming inside.

Nathan Fawcett stood at the kitchen entrance, watching the busy Anne Sutton. ”You still haven’t answered the question I just asked you.”

”I was just saying,” Anne Sutton said, looking at him. ”Why are you taking it so seriously?”

”You’re not the type to just say things,” he said, feeling she was hinting at something.

Anne Sutton said, ”I wasn’t. You’re overthinking it!”

Nathan Fawcett stood to the side. ”Don’t tell me Charles Prescott went to see you again? No wonder he wasn’t at the company today.”

”...” Hearing this, Anne Sutton’s lips twitched. ”Are you crazy?! In your eyes, am I the kind of person who would just eagerly run to him the moment he calls?”

Nathan Fawcett looked at her. ”Who knows! What if you do like him? Why else would you come back and say something like that?”

Anne Sutton said, ”He didn’t come looking for me. I haven’t seen him. You’re overthinking it! I don’t know what he’s been busy with lately. Is it company business? How are things at the company?”

”...” Nathan Fawcett said, ”I haven’t really taken over company matters before. I’m still getting things in order.”

’If I really fire Charles Prescott, there will be too much for me to handle. I’m afraid I won’t be able to manage it all, so I’m assessing the situation first.’

Anne Sutton said, ”Actually, you don’t have to rush. Just handle it slowly. You haven’t managed the company in years, so it must feel strange to suddenly take charge.”

At this point, she wasn’t in such a hurry anymore. In fact, she hoped he would take his time.

That way, she would have more time to spend with Ian.

She had been living alone for the past few years. Now, with this father and son by her side, she suddenly didn’t feel so lonely anymore.

Nathan Fawcett glanced at her. ”Weren’t you in a huge rush to kick Charles Prescott out? Now you’re changing your tune. He must have gone to see you.”

”...” ’Unbelievable!’

Anne Sutton shot him a glare and decided to ignore him.

’He’s seriously nuts!’

After she finished cooking, the three of them sat down to eat.

Just as they picked up their bowls, Chloe Chase returned.

The butler saw her. ”Assistant Chase.”

Although Chloe Chase was just Anna Linden’s assistant, she often represented Anna and her words carried significant weight.

Therefore, the butler was very polite when he saw her.

Nathan Fawcett looked up, put down his chopsticks, and said, ”What are you doing here?”
