I Am Your Natural Enemy

They took the original foundation, added their stuff, and then magic-craft it into the appearance we see.

The original Ghost Wealth God was actually quite niche.

It was worshiped by a part of the people in the Ghost Market who specifically sold shady items.

But decades ago, even before the Spiritual Qi Resurgence, it was wiped out with a heavy hand.

Later, after the Spiritual Qi Resurgence, some people wanted to organize it, but it attracted real Ghosts, and accidents happened, so it disappeared again.

Now, when we talk about the Ghost Market, it’s the formal Rakshasa Ghost Market, properly hosting the Ghosts.

No one had connected it like this before because it had disappeared so long ago, even the name was replaced.

A few days ago, the Ghost Wealth Gods that were caught all went down together, so even fewer people thought about it.

Unexpectedly, today a scammer was caught, who truly had connections to the Ghost Wealth God.

Moreover, he worshipped the original version of the Ghost Wealth God.”

”Is his plan to flee related to this or to Nanyang?” Wen Yan asked.

”Both are related. He saw the news about the unearthing of many skeletons in Nanyang. The matter is too big to hide; those who should know, know the truth, and there are a lot of firsthand accounts online.

Plus, before that, we dismantled many small shrines of the Ghost Wealth God. He also knew a bit.

But he thought the Ghost Wealth God he worshipped was the same as those we dismantled before.

So, he cleared everything, ready to flee.

This guy is greedy but doesn’t dare sell his latest resources, afraid they’ll implicate him.

So he sold last year’s information to scrape together what he could.

He never expected to be caught the same day, thinking the ones who worshipped the Ghost Wealth God caught him for running with the money.

He inadvertently spilled a lot during an early slip of his tongue.

During further interrogation, once he confirmed the place he was held could not be entered by Ghosts, he gave up struggling.”

Wen Yan scratched his head as he listened. Did it mean they actually dug something up?

At first, he just thought, what kind of dog thing dared to cheat him.

Unexpectedly, the person trying to scam him also got scammed.

And it involved the trickster Ghost Wealth God, which turned out to originally be local?

”Sounds like that guy knows about Ghosts and is particularly afraid of them? What Ghost could enter the Scorching Sun Department and kill him?”

”He was indeed very scared. His fear caused him to blurt out when he was caught. He said that the Ghost wasn’t an ordinary Ghost. Once, a Taoist tried every method against Ghosts but failed, and the Taoist was killed in return.

Based on the clues that guy provided, I confirmed that indeed, a Taoist from Nanwu County went missing and hasn’t been found yet.

Just a month ago, that Taoist did go to catch a Ghost.”

”A Daoist Master?”

”No, but he wasn’t a fraud either, more like the practical Nanwu Taoist, using whatever was useful, quite strong, and had very rich battle experience.

He once escaped the grasp of a Haired Zombie, and set up a trap to lure the Haired Zombie into it and trap it.

Even if that Haired Zombie was nothing compared to the Haired Zombies of your Fuyu Mountain, it was still a wild one.

To achieve that, very few people could.”

”Any leads?”

”Very few clues. At the time, the Taoist priest should have thought it was just capturing an ordinary Ghost, at most haunted by resentment, left without leaving much information, probably careless.

If it were a slightly difficult thing, following the rules, he would have left who the target was, where, and who asked for it.

If no one asked him, and he was just accumulating merit, he would record that too.

But now there is no such record.

The people at his Taoist Temple don’t know, so it’s almost certain that the records were not stolen by someone.”

”Give me the clues, I’ll ask around.”

”Okay.”

After hanging up, Wen Yan received the information pushed by Feng Yao, glanced at it, then checked the time and sky, and dialed Feng Wei’s number.

”Feng Wei, is Lord Zhu awake? I’m going to visit.”

”He is, he’s awake. There are no guests today, and Lord Zhu has cooked a big pot of beef, just ready to eat today.”

”Alright, then please lead the way.”

After hanging up the phone, Wen Yan called Little Fox.

”Is your master available?”

”He is.”

”How much of your master’s preparations are left?”

”There’s still a lot.”

”Then have your master prepare ten portions for me to take away.”

”Alright.”

Wen Yan went to pick up the takeout, carrying the takeout, and followed Feng Wei to Guanzhong County.

After all, he was going there to consult someone, so it’s not suitable to go empty-handed.

Wen Yan, carrying a bag of boxes, greeted some familiar Ghosts like he was going home, and arrived at the inner courtyard.

”Hahaha, brother, you’ve come all this way, why bring stuff?”

”What? No more Crazy Thursdays, so you just come to join the fun?”

Lord Zhu didn’t go too formal, started joking as soon as they met.

”Lord Zhu, try it first before speaking. I wouldn’t dare bring regular stuff.”

”If you put it that way, I must try it.”

Wen Yan opened a box and placed it in front of Lord Zhu.

”Lord Zhu, directly eat, it should be fine.”

Lord Zhu picked up a piece, took a bite, and the Yin Qi in his body began to surge, and in an instant, the surging Yin Qi was suppressed.

”Whoa, what is this stuff?”

”Good stuff, from a few thousand years ago, no one had the fortune to taste this.”
