I Am Your Natural Enemy

Across more than a thousand kilometers in the Old Linzi, the person from the Ma Family Ancestral Hall was still moving forward, carrying a backpack.

He certainly knew this was a serious matter. He wished to harbor a false hope, but others wouldn’t let him, allowing him to flee quickly, which was already a kind gesture.

Yet after escaping, after scarcely half a day’s walk, he couldn’t take it anymore. In the village, he hardly did anything; no matter the size of the goods, they could be delivered to the village.

Years ago, he could carry things for dozens of miles on a single breath; the physical strength he had once honed was long wasted. Now suddenly walking mountain paths, he felt his waist, legs, and feet were aching and weakening.

He dared not make calls, and he did not even dare insert a card and turn on a new phone.

Merely ten kilometers away from him, a helicopter was patrolling nearby. In the Northeast, it had already gotten dark. Infrared equipment scanned all creatures in the Old Linzi, and if anything resembling a person was detected, the equipment would automatically alert, making it easy for non-professionals to handle.

Old Haorat aboard the helicopter was straining his eyes, waiting to make his mark. If the target for credit was those guys with Clear Wind Smoke Soul, that would be perfect.

At the same time, after hearing the Northeast Sunburst Sect’s mobilization and specially inviting Old Haorat to act, in another place, two people who looked like they were in their fifties or sixties were sitting together.

”That gatekeeper fellow probably can’t escape. A dead Haorat is personally pursuing.” said the gray-haired elderly, picking up a Five-Spice Melon Seed casually.

”This is a bit troublesome. The Scorching Sun Department may not excel at other things, but if given a clue, as long as they are willing to investigate, there’s a not small chance they’ll find something.

If they capture a living person or find a corpse, the trouble afterward will be immense.”

The opposite elderly with full black hair and slightly inverted triangle eyes spoke, a trace of seriousness appearing in his gaze.

The gray-haired elder sighed, fiddling with peanuts.

”Such a pity. Those Nanyang fellows are unreliable, too reckless. Who would have thought they’d dare to be so brutal and uncontrollable?

Missing Gold Coin from over there, it’s no longer easy for us to win people over.

It’s not like decades ago. Decades ago, a color TV was a valuable item.

Plus, everyone was dirt poor; money was the most effective thing.

But now, for the people we want to woo, money doesn’t have special power anymore.

If they want money, they don’t even need to reach out for it. At the simplest, with a twist, they can secure a project, making their household too filled to swallow.

Truly valuable things can’t be bought with money.

Unlike before, when it was easy to rally a group.”

”They’ve accepted our things; their families have accepted our things. Once aboard the pirate ship, they shouldn’t think of getting off.” Inverted Triangle Eyes coldly chuckled.

”You shouldn’t act so extremely. If you push people too hard, they’ll just seek out an organization to explain, spill everything, and save their lives. You’ll force them to act, that’s a dead end.” Gray-haired elder advised leisurely.

”Then what do you suggest? Shouldn’t we handle the gatekeeper?”

”Of course, we should.”

”Then how to handle?

The Scorching Sun Department acted too fast. We can’t possibly intervene directly; now there are only two paths.

Either we do nothing, letting that guy be caught. If he’s caught alive, the Scorching Sun Department could pull out quite a bit with this condition.

Or we must expose some things and hurry him away.

We found out too late. The Ma Family folks cared too much for old times; if at the first sign of trouble, they had dealt with him, there wouldn’t be so much fuss.

Now, it’s impossible not to expose anything. Choose.

The later the exposure, the more it will be.”

Inverted Triangle Eyes’ tone wasn’t great, and the gray-haired elder was somewhat helpless.

No choice now. Choosing the former seems to expose fewer things, but who knows what the Scorching Sun Department might trace if they capture someone; a living person is far more crucial than other intelligence.

And selecting the latter certainly exposes some important means, but the benefit is that the Scorching Sun Department probably won’t be able to trace further.

The gray-haired elder thought for a moment, saying.

”Didn’t we hear about the locksmith appearing earlier?”

”Yes, I’ve heard about it. It’s too apparent; it should be related to Power crumbling, too many have acquired some related Power.

But it quickly vanished, yet unknown who the locksmith is or how many have taken the locksmith’s path.

What are you asking about this now for?”

”Anyway, something will be exposed. Why not expose that door?”

”Hmm?” Inverted Triangle Eyes were taken aback: ”Are you crazy?”

”I’m not crazy. Let the Scorching Sun Department see and let them investigate. We can’t find the locksmith, but the Scorching Sun Department might be able to if this occupation truly exists.”

Inverted Triangle Eyes pondered, nodding.

”This indeed is a good idea, I’ll go now.”

Inverted Triangle Eyes stood up, went inside the room, lifted the carpet, and opened an iron door, heading underground.

He proceeded along the underground passage, taking small steps, encountering several junctions along the way; at each junction, he would stand and observe carefully before continuing.

A few minutes later, he exited the passage, arriving in an underground space.

Here appeared to be an underground building long abandoned, where one could still see rusty steel staircases and a massive old-style generator.
